I only have rhe adios pro 3 and works very nice for me! The upper works very good in fact, some time for lockdwon and nothing else! Great durability, traction, stability and price and avaliabality!
Great video! I’ve tried a few super shoes and Puma work for me. I’ve a few pairs of the original elites and I recently got myself the fast fwd’s as I’m racing 5k’s exclusively trying to better my times and I love them👍
after running a 15k race in the NB RC Elite v2 this past weekend, I pulled the trigger on the SC Elite v3. As a bigger guy, the fuel cell works really really well for me...just a really comfy ride throughout....I do have the Puma Deviate Elite 2...its a great shoe but will probably stay a 5-10k racer and occasional trainer for me....appreciate all your work and content, Edd!
I’m a bigger guy to. 225-230lbs. And I love the SC Trainers too. I can load the shoe and get good return but for 1/2 Marathons I used Vaporflys or Endorphin Pros. My only issue with the SCs is durability. But that’s part of being heavy and hard on the rubber/foam
Puma DNE 2 has been excellent for training, and the upper has stretched and is more accommodating 80km in, Endorphin Pro 3 remains my marathon shoe of choice
And have recently found the Mizuno Wave Daichi 7's to be a good option for anything from really dry to muddy trails, but not if you're knee deep in it. Well made shoe, two layers of foam for heel support, lacing features to release tension on top of your foot, and fairly deep and far apart lugs to stop tons of it clumping on your foot. Really underrated brand! Something like Saucony Peregrine ST for very very muddy trails.
I guess it depends what you actually want out of a race shoe. If it is your best race then you seem to saying the Vaporfly 3 and even though I have only tried 2 of these would have to agree. If it is for some other purpose then other shoes are available.
It was between the Endorphin pro 3 or the Adios Pro 3 and I went with Endorphin for my next marathon in a few weeks. The weight and the powerrun pb+ midsole!
I'm going with the Addidas Pro 3, for my marathon on Sunday. I have to be careful with the laces around the second eye aa it sometimes causes discomfort, but hopefully I'll fix this during my warm up. I haven't got the other exact shoes in your selection, but have V1 of Puma and not enough underfoot for me. V2 of the Nike is bit too unstable when I land further back on the sole when tired later in a race.
@@johnshandle777 I have both and prefer the 3. I find the 2 is less forgiving and more of a 5k/10k race shoe for me, the 3 is more stable and good for 10k upwards. Good luck on Sunday, I'm sure the shoes will look after your feet -)
Agreed With sizing, I went my regular UK8 and it was very snug and I have a narrow foot, so go up at least half a size or wide footed people go up a full size.
Man I have to say you called it on the Vaporfly. Mine arrived today, glue marks, upper was already fraying, some of the glue areas were already coming apart, etc. Never seen such bad quality for $250
loving the puma at the moment, im mixing it up with the saucony endorphin pro 3, the addidas has taken a back seat at the moment as it doesnt feel as easy to run at my fast pace
The Vaporfly 3 has worked out really well for me. I really like the Vaporfly 2 but find it a little too firm and snappy for distances over 10K and it feels a bit constricted in the forefoot/toe-box. The VF3 addresses all those issues and I find it quite versatile. I can go on long runs (HM distances and longer) at moderate to fast paces and it's very comfortable underfoot, which is not something I expected. The only other shoe I felt that way about is the Prime X Strung. I really like the Adios Pro 3 but the upper is an issue. It really does take time to lace it up just right to get the ideal balance between comfort and lockdown. For long distances, it feels great underfoot and chugs you along very consistently in an enjoyable manner. It's the upper that can drive you crazy if you don't get the lacing just right. The outsole is awesome - both for traction and durability.. I don't think the Hoka Rocket X2 is for me. My forefoot is slightly on the wider side although my mid-foot and heel are standard or maybe even narrow. Maybe this is why the fit of the VF3 (and all the Adidas' Adizero shoes) works out so well for me. The balance between the soft bouncy comfort and the catapult-like propulsion of the VF3 is rather uncanny. And then there's the weight or lack of it. Mine is at 6.1 ounces for size 8 US. It doesn't feel like you have shoes on at all. I love it although I agree that the outsole leaves much to be desired. But I guess you just can't have it all in one shoe... I remain very intrigued by the Deviate Nitro Elite 2 based on how much I enjoy the Deviate Nitro 2. I'm sure it feels and rides very "natural". I intend to try it out but after Puma comes out with a colorway that I like. 😁
I'm too heavy on the forefoot for vaporfly longer than half marathon. Reckon I'll be hitting up the hoka. Their carbon x didn't work at all on the road, rocket x were ok for 5k, but hoping these x2 will be a new goto road shoe 5-30k.
Hi edd I love the vaporfly 3 and I do appreciate the toe box room as I find saucony in particular have narrow toe boxes I think you should try the mizuno wave rebellion pro I absolutely love that shoe I’ve only dune one interval session in it so it’s too earlier to say for sure but it think it might even be more propulsive then vaporfly and also have a great outsole The Audios pro 3 doesn’t work for me it’s great trainer but I feel almost no proportion from it so rules it out for racing for me I’ve not tried a puma carbon shoe or the rocket x 2 I think the rocket x looks nice and I love a soft midsole so maybe if I can get it for the price you did I might get it at some point although my size 12 or 12.5s sell out fast normally
Great vid 👏 I found the Rocket X 2 a tad too soft for anything less than top speed and bottomed out. A bit slappy too, but guess the outsole will hold up well with the coverage. VF3 PB’d straight out the box 🙌
I think it’s probably a shoe that will work for some and not others. The Vaporfly has improved over my runs. Wasn’t dead set on it but still worried on the durability.
Durability definitely not at the same level as the rest but I guess that’s the cost of placing performance over anything else 🤷🏻♂️ only wearing mine for odd occasions so not getting beaten up like a daily would
The Endo Pro 3 was immensely good to me in Boston, despite very wet conditions. No issues whatsoever in any respect, from traction to performance to not holding water to fresh feet despite the wetness.
For me it was excellent, even in those slimy Gatorade and Maurten stations. The outsole durability is also improved over the Endo Speeds I wore the last 2 times.
I bought the Vaporfly 3 because of that toe room! 😂 I got the men’s size for the wider fit and honestly I could go a little more wide but really all race shoes are more narrow anyways. Also I think the curvature of the laces should be talked about more! My feet go numb when laces are tight & i literally tie my laces over to the side and Nike integrated it!
my local store just had the Pro 3 in some colors for 150 Euro and I could not resist, but I tried the Hoka and it felt great, I just don't have the urgency to pay full price, especially when the guy at the Hoka booth said himself there will we discounts coming. I may also snatch up an Endorphin Pro 3 if I see a really good price, lots of discounts on them, felt great as well. Curious about the Vaporfly, v1 was snug but good fit for my wide feet with high midfoot, v2 was too tight, is v3 more spacious in the toebox only or overall?
Have you ever considered "weighting" your criteria when comparing shoes? As an example, one might weigh midsole more heavily as compared to a shoe's upper or price.
It’s me trying to give some type of numerical value. Some cushion is heavier for sure. Though I find the lighter and softer the foam the lower the weight almost every time
Sorry, I wasnt referring to a shoe's physical weight. Currently all of your scoring categories are "weighted" equally. The score that you attribute to the a shoe's price is weighted the same as the score that you attribute to a shoe's upper. I was just making a suggestion that you could "weight" scoring based upon the value to an individual runner. Someone that runs on trails might "weight" the outsole score more heavily than the others, while an older or heavier runner might "weight" the midsole score more heavily. All runners do this when considering shoe options (though they might not realize it). Just a thought!
Wonder why you enjoy the Sen 8/9 so much but don't seem to be enjoying the lightstrike pro as much in the Adios Pro. Also, would you consider shooting a part 2 with shoes from Saucony, asics, Mizuno?
It seems like you rarely give any love to Saucony in the comparison videos. Why the hate? I'm running a half next Sunday. I can't decide between the VF2, Adios Pro 3, Metaspeed Sky+, or Endorphin Pro 3
