thank you for this! my catahoula / pit bull is a very hyper and energetic puppy. with this comes a lot of questions about why I'm so strict on her. I give her a lot of discipline, and she gives me respect. she is always out working for me, because like I said, I'm very tough on her. I don't abuse her, but I make sure that she is doing what I want. she gets a lot of free time and enjoys going to the local river. she knows many commands and tricks already at 7 months. some I do for fun, but it also makes her more obedient. she is in the process of learning how to lay down, and thanks to this video, we sped it up some! :)
Rylee My neighbors think I'm abusing my pup because I crate him, and refuse to poison him by feeding him nasty pig ears! He is a Long-haired Miniature Dachshund and they are notoriously difficult to house-train, but at just over 12-weeks my puppy has figured it out...
I found since getting him people like to tell Dog Owners what to do, whether we ask their opinion or not! Even if what you are doing is working really well, other people try to tell you what to do. I've found that ignoring that type of person is best. And the ones who get in-your-face aggressive, I don't hesitate to tell off!
Before I got my puppy, I did over 10 Years of research into his breed, and dogs in general, I've got what works for him already figured out.

I've been trying to teach my dog down almost ever since I got him (he's not 7 month old we got him when he was 7 weeks old). He goes down when i lure him but he's not able to understand what I mean when I say down. Any suggestions?

yes.....with your dog standing, just take the food lure down, between the dogs front feet and just behind the front feet. I usually will start this with the dog on a raised platform. This will help the dog not to move around to much.The dog should follow the lure and basically fold into a down.

If you've been paying attention, you'll see that one immediate source of confusion is that lay can be both the infinitive and present tense of the transitive verb lay, meaning 'put someone/something down' or the past tense of the intransitive verb lie,meaning 'be in a horizontal position on a surface

Don't give up! Keep the training short and positive and be patient. Your dog will learn the trick eventually. :)

interesting points ,if anyone else needs to find out about puppy training videos try Ichordo Simple Puppy Fixer (Have a quick look on google cant remember the place now ) ? Ive heard some decent things about it and my m8 got great results with it.
