Why is this video much more organized and steady paced. Than your average rough neck video. Usually it's two knuckle heads with no shirt who don't know what their doing but are "working hard"

Casing crews are the best. Lots of hours, easy work, good bonuses, and best of all, you dont have to clean the rig or do set up / tear down

Back in the 70s and 80s casing hands made more money than anybody they got paid by the foot and they drove from job to job sleeping little bit here and there Doing a lot of speed I knew a guy and I might see him couple times a month in the bar. I was a driller and he made twice as much as I did because of all the hours he did

I remember running big casing Back in the early seventies Is back in the early seventies. Use the Crane to run the casing up to the Vdoor. You showed up on location with the Crane and you didn't leave until the job was done lay down pipe And run casing. Good old days wonder I feel the way I do.

When I was a floorhand I had to dope the pipe for the casing crews when it was still on the rack

From. Canada Casing crews were. well. paid. more than. the rig crew when I worked in. Alberta back in the mid 1960s and yes the casing crew had. to stay on the rig. until Last joint of casing was run in the hole . Also. back in the day most guys hung around the bar’s. including myself out around Edson, Alberta , It was guaranteed back then. you would run into a driller or. toolpush and get. hired too go out to work on the rig and most of the rigs were back working in the bush (you would stay in the. rig camp , trailer’s on steel skid’s)and. you got free room and board and the meals were excellent, I heard some guy’ s that didn’ t want to stay in camp stayed in some nearby town received some type of Living allowance ( were well paid. back then ) And I do remember one thing you the rig hand if you stayed tell the hole was. drilled and the derrick was Layed down you received a. good cheque. along with. your regular cheque it was Like a bonus if you stayed from the time the rig spudded in ( started drilling too the end when the derrick was Layed down ) you would. receive your cheque on your next 2 week pay period. the. cheque would range from anywhere from. $300. to $ 500 dollars ( I think back then. it was around $ 5.00 dollars a day some of the bigger. contractors paid more I’ve heard / back then. that was a good. chunk of change , they had a hard time back then too get men to work on the rigs. period and the winters were wet and cold I remember tripping on. midnight shift our crew were running in the hole it was about - 10 or 20 below we had good crews back then everybody did there job. well , no slacker,s and the farm. boy’s. and some of the first nation’s people were real good. hand’s back then, this was in the winter. months and once break. - up hits. ( spring ) you are up too your ass in mud , rig usually shuts down, / and. must be moved. out of the bush by bedtrucks too solid ground. near some. town or contractor’s yard wherever , / have a good day and keep that oilpatch. going in the USA. and Canada / Bill S. Canada

Ahh yes, the cold relentless Nort'
Hated the northern calls, we would get drunk in the back of the truck on the way there, never got cold that way, never tarnished a JSA with any RI's (Reported Injuries) or CIR (Critical Incident Report)
I've worked Williston & Dickinson ND, The Powder River Basin (Gillette, Casper, Wright & Douglas) DJ Basin (Central East Colorado) and a few calls to Wamsutter when I was running case, a miserable ass location.
No Chains, Lots of speed, paid cents per foot, I'm 100% on board with you.
Nabors, NGL, Sanjel, Liberty and Noble.
Worked Iron to Casing, Drilled and Many rig moves.
I miss the patch, I don't miss the patch.
Recent separation left me with a dog I won't part with but can't find care for long enough to work the rigs again so I'm out of the industry unless some cushy ass safety position opens up that I can get my foot into, hang in the office with the dog most the day.

Now I know why these rig workers die from work-related accidents. Scary work.

      Common Sense and Situational Awareness
If you lack either or both, you're going to get seriously hurt or worse, or you end up doing it to someone else.
I've watched good hands be fired on the spot for making stupid mistakes that put the rest of us at risk, can be career ending if not life ending.
I've also worked with incredibly stupid folk.
