Hey slorgs, Lead Gameplay Programmer of the SAGAS mod and longtime viewer of the channel here, thanks for checking out the mod! The current beta test is aimed at proofing our brand new overhauled core gameplay systems and gameplay loop, and identifying balancing issues with the initial slate of core weapons and gadgets. Maps and general content are not yet the focus, but once our foundation is stable that's where we'll be expanding the mod immediately. The 3 test maps for the beta are all unfinished and are essentially released so people don't have to test the core gameplay on vanilla maps. Thank you for your coverage of the mod and keeping it funky and fresh.

Cool video. Something your mate didn’t explain to you is that bullets have penetration through walls in this game. Higher calibre equals higher penetration (thicker or multiple walls). It’s great for laying down return fire without exposing yourself to direct fire, oftentimes you’ll kill what’s on the other side.

Glad to see you play Firefight. Its been my favorite gamemode since the source version. Ive always hated how everyone defaults to Push when they try Insurgency, i just dont think its a very good pvp mode.
Yeah I kind of wonder if that would be better for insurgency, like push mode is literally absolutely miserable with a lot of the decisions they make and have always been making ever since the mod.. I just ranted about it in a comment above, I've put way too many hours into insurgency mod and standalone for how miserable it was, because there was always it was always just this thing where it's like if you could just.. then hit scan from across the map, flank restricted area, the amount of teamwork required to do proper attacking is just so much higher, and how easy it is to kill, with both the incredibly good controls and mechanical capabilities as well as the hit scan... I have blood on a microphone probably from screaming for people to just get into a point.. like you're going to die.. Just just get there for f sake lol.. and I mean.. half the maps in standalone even that wouldn't be enough.. they would have to be bad on the other team and you would have to be lucky and you would have to have that kind of teamwork.. Made it so like we I just couldn't play defense, cuz it just felt like.. felt like a little b to play that kind of game in multiplayer when it was so lopsided.. and it's not like these didn't apply to the the more mutual push maps and whatnot.. But they're level design it's just.. it's aggravating because it's not necessarily bad but they make it worse with the restricted areas and dislike it's like they want you to have to go through a wall of fire.. And red orchestra had a lot of these problems as well.. But at least they didn't have hit scan lol and at least you could flank.. granted they had some weapon balancing problems like a mother effer... But like at least there was the semblance of knowing what you were getting into... Like they weren't actively trying to make it worse or stay the same.. in a way that clearly didn't work. But my God, I wish every shooter had the feel mechanically and controls wise and like just the right amount of procedural animations and quality view model awareness and gun responses.. sound could use some work, but you know.. it's really not bad and definitely was ahead of its time untl It was ahead of its time again because squad decided to dilapidate their good sounds for bad ones.. and I still use a lot of them even though I've remixed them for a lot of mods I use, I still use their weapons for a lot of mods.. And yet every time I think of insurgency, I have this like throw up in my mouth moment of pain of how many matches I had that were like a real time montage moment of deaths... And then I actually do a little bit throw up because either I'm watching a video or something, and I'm reminded... Oh right... They still think that the com spamming thing is is like a feature and immersive or something to scream every single action that you're doing... Like what the f lol? Like the gaggle effing thing was funny a little bit.. But like that was a human doing it.. it's like... Well we need more spamming automatically lol I don't know if that's the compensate for the lack of teamwork in modern age or something but.. My God is it the most aggravating thing to listen to people play with that not completely turned off or modded out or something.. I can't remember if they have that I'm pretty sure they did.. credit where it is due.. But I can't remember if it was just for you or what but... Whoever thinks that that is a good thing... Should never work in the industry again. And if there's the same people behind a lot of the excellent gunshots and other mixing.. That's that's a tragedy right there because that's a rarity too.. But I guess that would be why we can't have nice things because I can't believe I'm saying this but if I had to trade good weapon sounds and environment sounds for not having pathways to darkness or Morrowind level of enemy spam and friendly spam in my multiplayer shooter with voice chat.. I'm going to have to... It is rare is the first one is... Yeah yeah yeah they should never work in sound again.

Something that genuinely has always bothered me about insurgency ever since the standalone is the blatant vox spamming characters.. I'm not sure if they added an option to turn them off, hopefully they did.. But like.. Just the mentality that you're going to scream your every intention in the middle of a combat situation lol... Like it was bad enough when players were intentionally doing it, but I feel like it's somehow gotten worse in sandstorm as they do not STF u like ever.. feels like I'm playing Morrowind or something.. Then there's of course the inherent issues with the way that they do map design, and how they just would not entertain the possibility of ballistics initially, and then they added a system that only adds it for longer shots.. which is funny because as much emphasis on co-op and PVE, hit scan becomes significantly more of a problem when the bot is doing it lol as it's not a matter of them shooting at you it's a matter of them dealing pre-calculated damage to you in certain situations. But who cares about that lol.. The biggest problem is that it's a game where you die nearly immediately, and it's incredibly easy to shoot and the controls are incredibly good, and when you combine that with push mode as is the classic insurgency mode, getting domed from across the map immediately much less getting to a choke point which are always open for multiple angles, and with restrictions on how you can approach or flank from the attacking side.. it's it's just my God is one of the most frustrating games.. and it makes sense why the PvE thing is so popping compared to its initial iteration because honestly it got to a point where it just was not fun unless you had a team that had their s together incredibly well, and even then lol. And a lot of that could have been solved with the addition of ballistics in proper.. not this hundred meter nonsense.. It actually makes a difference, a significant difference believe it or not..* But ever since the initial iteration of it as a Half-Life 2 mod, being able to dome somebody from across the map with a shotgun.. or any other gun really.. and not by doming lol just a chess shot.. and then also having to try and take focused channel points where your ability to flank is restricted by no go zones, and the place you have to take has multiple avenues of ingress, with a much shorter jaunt to that point then the attacking team.. There was a certain amount of mechanical lubrication that made the mod functional for the most part at best.. things like the free aim, or decoupled aim as some people call it, (which I absolutely adore and wish was in every game), requiring aiming with sites in order to have a locked camera.. which was quite easy to navigate through regardless because their indexing was very good of the weapon, making it easy to know generally wear your shots were going to be made... But was restrictive enough so much that it wasn't too egregious with the high lethality, and by high I mean it was just instant kill pretty much in every situation.. very rarely did that not happen even with a leg shot. So I didn't think that it could get worse with the standalone, but it got worse.. But a lot of the mechanical safety nets went away or were smoothed out to the point where the standalone insurgency controlled probably better than any other shooter that I could account for in terms of being able to do what you wanted to do easily.. normally that's a good thing right? Except for in that particular game mode that is the primary game mode.. where the maps got even more restrictive somehow, and more effed... Definitely a pain point, despite how common it was to play the map.. where the first objective was literally in the center of an open field is almost no cover to get to it, many many many points of ingress and multiple levels involving an alcove that you could shoot down to the bottom floor.. you dying one hit, machine guns light machine guns etc... Also hit scan.. I could probably count on one hand the amount of times I've actually won that map on the attacking side, and I probably played it thousands of times.. Man their weapon control and their awareness and a lot of there's so many things that insurgency does so well.. and then there's just like this little bit that completely makes it untainable for what it seems like it's trying to do.. I can't speak to the co-op side which was pretty bare bones in the standalone, looks more advanced in sandstorm, but I only played it a couple times, realized it was hit scan still, realized the calm spamming was automated and worse.. because I don't know.. The guy who came up with the I got a bone to pick with you line from pathways in a darkness apparently got another job or something? I'm blaming him.. there's probably no chance it's him.. But he knows what he did! Always have a special place in my heart, even though from the understanding, a lot of the primary people behind the mod have gone there separate ways long ago. I didn't expect them to make another sequel after the standalone.. and honestly the standalone I wasn't expecting either as they failed the early access Kickstarter whatever goal.. and they've they've managed to keep it alive, I just wish they would do the things necessary to make it work the way it could be.. Rather than hobble on as it is. And by the way I'm not asking for like some sort of infantry combat nonsense like squad did.. Even though it kind of sounds like that.. I'm just I'm just talking reason here.. I mean the ballistics thing has always been a problem.. a huge problem because even on tighter maps that's the thing but a lot of them are not tight.. But of course the biggest issue is that you can't do proper flank and maneuver the way they restrict zones.. and if you're worried about spawn killing.. lol.. a bunch of the maps you could literally shoot into the spawn for the attacking force from the objective.. so you know.. are you? * and not just with hit scan bots where it's an inherent game design problem that probably causes more code to be put in to making the AI seen both competent, while also not being able to hit you very well with slow reaction times etc and all the other problems with that.. because if they do.. they've already hit you... Which is a problem lol and and kind of silly that there's been so much pushback in development to continue using hit scan, especially when they're already pre-calculating the tracers and whatnot in reverse more or less or.. sadly some people just calculate the tracers and they just don't line up lol.. But like you're already doing the math for that.. it's not that much math..

I wanted to say youre funny man but i dont want to boost your ego 😁
