So everyone knows the song Bella Ciao as shown with the instrumental at 3:03, but here's the history behind it: It's a protest song from the late 19th century, originally sung by the mondina workers in protest against the harsh working conditions in the paddy fields of Northern Italy. However, the song's lyrics were modified in the 1940s to tell the story of a young man who bids farewell to his love ("goodbye beautiful") to join the Italian partisans. Thus, it became a song that many partisans sang as part of the resistance against fascism. Today, Bella Ciao is still a prominent feature on Italy’s political landscape. And it's no lie about the Roman road network! The Roman roads were notable for their straightness, solid foundations, cambered surfaces facilitating drainage, and use of concrete made from pozzolana (volcanic ash) and lime. The whole system comprised more than 400,000 kilometers (250,000 miles) of roads, of which over 80,500 kilometers (50,000 mi) were stone-paved. Quite the impressive feat, especially for back then!
Oh my, I have to admit, This is an episode that truly made me smile and warmed our hearts. A great idea of getting a bike tour but a better idea of having the Aunt and Uncle meet you at each destination. Everyone goes 🥰. Jason's bunny hop was barely a "3" but he made up for it with capturing the sceneries, family moments and putting it all together. Thank you so much for bringing us along. Very nicely done Caio, until next time
What a beautiful family, inside and out. It shows on screen, something that can not be hidden. I must say your Aunt looks lovely and relaxed, considering all what the family is going through. She looks like a movie star this I noticed when you were with the jewelery merchant. She has class and you could put her anywhere and she would look at ease. I feel guilty for enjoying your video on this particular trip. I hope you don't feel robbed of your time in filming/editing because spending time with the family is so important. If this should come around again may I suggest you spend time wih the family totally, I for one would understand if you took time off to do so. May your family all be blessed.
Lol the shoutout to Mark Wiens! More proof that you have excellent taste! The food all looks delish! Beautiful olive grove! Though I fear every time Gordon Ramsay says to use a touch of olive oil in one of his recipes...one of these olive groves disappear 😂. Superb footage! My wife and I loved this episode. So much fun to watch. I think we both wanted to be there with you. For such a minor effort, you certainly maximized the experience! The biggest downside seems to have been the pain-in-the-butt aspect! Chianti is lucky to have such rich wine history! Chianti was the first real delimited wine zone in what's now Italy, when in 1716 Grand Duke Cosimo III de Medici created what is believed to be the first legislation governing wine production. It wasn’t until the middle of the 19th century, however, that a standard recipe for its wine was developed. The creator of the original modern recipe was Baron Bettino Ricasoli, who was later briefly Italy’s second prime minister (1861-62)
Tuscany, a small cottage/house on a hill side, view of the vineyards, sitting in a comfy chair, listening to the birds, sound of farmers, smell of the land, Barolo in a glass (big glass), wood fired pizza, nothing else... very, very high on my bucket list :) Great vid guys :)
@@dhache1195 very true, very true, but my bucket list, my wine. Having said that, if I would by some happy chance end up in a situation as described and having to choose something from Toscana, without thinking price, I would likely go for Castell'in Villa Chianti Classico Riserva. Or Poggio all'Oro Brunello di Montalcino ... but after all is said and done I would probably request vino della casa and simply be grateful and happy just being there and drinking any wine :)
Tuscany is probably the most beautiful place on Earth, even on a cloudy dreary day before everything is in bloom. The people there are amazing too, probably partially due to the fact that they live in such a beautiful place. I'm glad you got off the beaten path to see the countryside. There is so much of it to explore!
Fabulous job editing, great choices of the art you chose to include. What a beautiful family you have Nikki. Happy Mother’s Day to your aunt and to your mom Jason.
I can relate in your bike tour I did the hiking version fall 2022, 15km per day, always ending at a winery….funny how that happened. Fantastic countryside and warm people.
Ahhhh.... Tuscany, Italy!! What a dream come true experience to live and share together. You will cherish these memories forever. From the gorgeous scenery, to probably most awesome wine, to the classically delicious picnic in the olive grove...what an awe-inspiring experience of the ages. We LOVE seeing you in Italy and feel so grateful that you have shared some of you special family time with all of us fortunate enough to watch your every single video episode adventure!
Last week I watched from my hospital bed and today I caught up with you while recuperating. I'm sure glad to see your videos, but especially when my world gets narrowed to the size of a bed. I always look forward to my Sunday morning videos from you two.
Wow, AWESOME stuff there!!! .... Jason - There was probably TONS that were not shown (edited out), I'd love to see what was NOT edited in. I'm so glad that your family's health is still doing good. Yes, that was the right decision to drive them to the locations and not bike there. You guys are SO thoughtful!
Nikki, I'm really glad you got to get together with your aunt and uncle in Tuscany. It does sound like the trip of a lifetime. Keep the good stuff coming guys.
Wow, I am bone tired after a mad rush to get our boat back in the water today after a month of work on the hard and nothing really was cheering me up, but your video of charming Tuscany and family time has lil grumpy me smiling. You two certainly know how to tell a story and transport us with you skill.
Ciao our sweet friends ... what a lovely introduction to Italy. Your family will cherish these memories forever. Happy Mother's Day to your Mom's and Moms everywhere 💐
Loved the baby daisies roll in the grass, we have them in the PNW and I can still see my little feet running and playing in them roughly 62 years ago, makes me smile every new season of seeing them 🙂
Could possibly be my very favorite episode of all time and I have been following for a long time. It’s wonderful how you often mix it up. Love the sailing but this is great! I’m ready to book a flight and maybe never come home. Your Aunt is gorgeous!!! Family is so important 💕
Fantastic!!! My son and I did a wine bike ride in the Dolomites. It was no joke, so I was having flashbacks the whole video.😂😂 Thank you for loving your family so well. The joy and laughter brought tears to my eyes!
I'm thrilled you and your family were able to tour part of Italy. Used to frequent Italy but It's been a while since I've been back. As an engineer, Roman engineering still mesmerizes me. Their roads still used in Europe even in Great Britain. The use of concrete and mortar mix was and is astounding along with their aqueducts.
This was lovely! My mom found you guys back in the RV days and fell in love with your channel and adventures. This weekend I got to give the gift of her first RV trip. Thanks for the inspiration!
My E Bike has both pedal assist and zero pedalling…love it. Looks like a wonderful wine/bike experience. Your family with you are awesome. Thank u for including us in your trips…I’ll never get there ❤️🇨🇦
They key to successful vacationing in Italy is the timing: as early as possible in spring or as late as possible in the fall...depending on the weather. The more flexible you are the more optimally you can plan it. At best you're in pretty summer-like weather but not too hot and the crowds are not there! It's easier when you live a few hours away from Italy, instead of a continent away of course...😉 Even early May or mid-September can be really good if you get the weather right, as even then the amount of people is completely different compared to a few weeks closer to prime vacation season. Well, out there in the countryside it doesn't seem to matter as much, but for example in Como... Overall my tactic is that I usually keep my locations open (I pre-plan locations & activities in many areas so I have a wide range of places to go) and don't reserve anything beforehand, I travel according to the weather. Often we can see the weather about a week ahead, and when the weather looks certain then I book the necessary stuff, at least a few main locations.
Pedal-assist e-bikes are improving travel immensely, IMO. I used to poo-poo them, but in Italy, the larger trains have e-bike charging stations in several of the cars -- you can get on a train in La Spezia, and by the time you are in say Milano, have a fully charged bike to get around the city. In a place like Corfu, you can stay in the hills, coast down to the beaches, and use the pedal-assist to get back up with the day's groceries. It's so nice that people I knew there replaced their car with an e-bike.
I bought a electric bike last month and it is great for someone my age (almost 80) and still going. I debated over a year before buying it. It folds up and is easy to store. I did post it on my channel if you want to see what it looks like. We are at a time in life where we are slowing down. Ray
Bello! Mette di buon umore! Vedere il vostro entusiamo per la mia amata regione è una gioia. Wrote the above in Italian on purpose 😊, it’s a joy to watch your enthusiasm for Tuscany, I shared it with family members, lucky to be born and raised there. Fair winds!
Excellent adventure for all. Reminds me of right after graduating from high school I bicycled 50 miles to Santa Barbara Ca. Camped in an orange grove, then on the beach... got a ticket for being on a freeway on the way back. Even though it was solo, I always remember the experience. Also, I think your aunt is quite beautiful.
On my list as well, Italy is a favorite. Even lived there for a while. Quality of life is very high, with the food, olive oil, wine, cheese and ham. And pine trees. I'd do it a bit differently, staying at one large hotel in the countryside and do excursions by car. Or by horse.
With the beautiful scenery and the music, I expected "The Godfather" to walk out the door of one of the villas...and say..."I make you an offer YOU can't refuse......." I know you two are Sailors...But this was amazing...
My family loves you both and the content. I love your family in Italy I watched everyone of them. Don’t fret family is always the most important! Love your Aunt & Uncle and cousins. Italy and France is so beautiful! We have health issues as well so we understand. Anyway lovely family content and much needed fun. ❤ love the historic content we may or may not get there. Nice to see. As I said before dealing with chronic daily issues with health of two in my immediate family so just take one day at a time. ❤ and hugs to you both.
Very good publicity for Tuscany. I work in the tourist trasportation business here in tuscany and i drive almost e very day in Chianti. It’s nice to see that you enjoyed!
This brought me back to the mid 70’s when I served in the US Army in Heilbronn, Germany. Sad to say that Heilbronn was almost totally destroyed in WW2 and in the 70’s there was still areas being rebuilt. But I did have the chance to get away to the small towns and villages that were undamaged by war. Heilbronn is in southern Germany absolutely in wine country. The vineyards draped the rolling hills, everywhere. I can see by the smiling faces that y’all had a blast!
Fantastic!! Thanks Very Much for Sharing. Excellent Filming & Your Picnic... the Wine & Food Looked Sooooooooo GOOD. What a lovely experience for you both, with family. I have enjoyed all of your vlogs. I went to Italy - by bike - with the Wynns - sitting here in my bedroom!
Idyllic in so many ways...though the most important was seeing the joy in your uncle's gaze as he took in the amazing views and absorbed the history. To be able to arrange this bucket list item is beyond beautiful !!! Nikki, you are blessed with a lovely family for sure!
Loved this video so much! Tuscany is on my bucket list. I really loved the footage as you are riding the bikes and seeing the scenery and the music was perfect!
I will just say that I've never wanted to visit Italy more than just after watching this video. I hope Jason finds enough footage to give us a part 3 to this Italian adventure.
My dad would have loved that tour minus the bikes if he'd lived long enough to go. Sadly we must learn from him to enjoy the time we have and not put off until retirement. Bonus for me is nor long after he passed we entered in to Revival, still living in it now 7yrs in. He would've been blown away.
What a wonderful adventure! We just rented bikes in Amsterdam and biked 30 miles in the country…oh, our butts were barking! But so worth it in every way.
Makes me want to go back to Italy! We got Lectric folding mountain bikes for our RV with big fat seats. They are awesome and stow easily, also pretty cheap with good range. You’ll love those.
You guys are killing the highly scripted travel shows we have had to endure for decades. Pioneers, The Wynns, freak'g pioneers. Respect!
I was thinking the same, Jason’s filming was impressive and he showed so many cool things.
Yep, they are! Hiccup!😂❤
I agree!! Love this!
I agree 👍

Ciao our sweet friends ... what a lovely introduction to Italy. Your family will cherish these memories forever. Happy Mother's Day to your Mom's and Moms everywhere 💐
This was a fun video. The sights, the people, the tours. It was just plain fun and memorable. Thanks for sharing guys! 🍷🍷
Wow, you so captured the joy. Sprinkled with a little bit of sadness and a lot of humanity in connection with others.
One of your best.
Loved it. I could only imagine the hard work that went into filming this and being part of it. Also, you guys are awesome.
There is nothing that is not made better by Nikki explaining it and J filming it
Fab watch ❤

What an EPIC TREAT -for Mother's day ...I SO miss my beautiful travel-buddy ...my Mum!
Lovely! Brings back memories of my teens, travelling around Europe during the mid 60’s with my family in between school attendance 😊
Looked like everyone had a great time. Thank you for bringing us along.
"...rain, I'll enjoy that too." Love it.

I smiled for twenty minutes watching this video. Your happiness was palpable. Thank you for such incredible videos!
Thank you...all of you, for a wonderful video.

Haven’t we all hugged and expressed affection for a lawn while drunk at least once in our lives?

I loved spending time the Jason and Nikki. What you see on UA-cam is what you get in real life. Love these guys.
Love this video so much! I love all of your episodes, but taking us along on your family trip was just a treat. Thank you!
Love this video so much! I have family from Tuscany but I’ve never visited there. Definitely on my bucket list. Thanks for another great video!
🍿 and an adventure, brought new every week or so.
The perfect day. 🚴 🍷
Thank you for such a wonderful tour through Tuscany! We thoroughly enjoyed it! As always, stay safe out there!
What a fun to watch episode! Thanks so much for the effort it takes to produce!
Another BEAUTIFUL Film from Nikki and Jason😊
What an adventure. My bucket list just grew. Thank you for sharing.
The chemistry of everyone involved was pretty righteous!!

Chianti Classico: The heart of the heart of the heart of Italy.
Wow. What a production! Amazing work, guys. You're the best. Talk about a taste of Tuscany. So well done! (And the music was perfect.) Thank you!
It’s a solid 3 😂 🚲 🤣 that was classic and made me laugh so good this morning. Tell your family thank you for the vibes and have a wonderful day!
May be my favorite vid along with the jeweler's! Loved and replayed both for the family, scenery, buildings, and locals scenes. Jason, you rock!
Luv cousin Matt, Jason’s big jump was “a solid 3” ❤😂😂
Thank you, for bringing us with your lovely trip. Toscana, is one of my favourite regions.
Another wonderful job telling a story. I love the varied content. Thank you for inviting us into your family’s life.
🥰

thanks for sharing your time with your family. Absolutely loved it.
How wonderful you get to do this all with your family….
What a beautiful gift on Mother's Day. Thank you. To all of the mothers, I wish you love and happiness. Thanks Wynn's for sharing. ❤🍷🍷
Great video! Beautiful scenery and my mouth watered looking at the food.

Such a beautiful countryside. Great to see you guys enjoying family .. with food and wine, what could be better. 😁
Fabulous! Just incredible! Could watch you all day!
I love the way Nikki says "aunt".

Loved this video so much! Tuscany is on my bucket list. I really loved the footage as you are riding the bikes and seeing the scenery and the music was perfect!
That was lovely! I also loved the shout out to Mark Wiens! That was funny! What a wonderful trip!
I will just say that I've never wanted to visit Italy more than just after watching this video. I hope Jason finds enough footage to give us a part 3 to this Italian adventure.
