I mean Hermitcraft seems like a place where everyone is pressured to have full netherite all the time, massive iron farms, gigantic builds that go to sky height and Dream SMP is a chill place where people goof off, some don't even wear armor and it doesn't seem as tense

@@RKaidan Yeah, Hermitcraft does run storylines but they aren't as lore intensive as Dream SMP has been. I can recall the NHO from Season 5 and more recently the Mycelium Resistance from Season 7, and I guess the Civil War of Season 6.
Dream SMP does tons of wars and actually scripts them. The majority of members on there are pvpers/speedrunners and aren't fans of building farms and stuff.

The Dream SMP has this roleplay element that most SMPs don't have. The way they have fun in the server doesn't require a lot of resources. In the case of the Dream SMP, automation would kill it, because of the way it functions. But for most SMPs, this is the opposite. So automation kills DreamSMP SPECIFICALLY.

im pretty sure techno and dream are the only ones who actually grind on the server tbh I really dont like automated get stuff quick farms its just boring
Well, people think grinding is tedious, especially when they kinda focus on rp now
just my opinion, but I think Dream spawns in his stuff, he can just get op stuff from creative. this is just my thought, he probably does grind for his stuff legit but he rarely even gets on the server which makes me think he spawned it in. :/

This was ages ago, since the server is RP focused now, their stance has likely changed.
People keeping saying “they do role play so it shouldn’t matter if there is automation” but I think it’s the exact opposite. Part of the drama of the story is the struggle for items and resources and the power they have. That TNT that Dream gave Wilbur? If you had an automated creeper and sugarcane farm that TNT wouldn’t have been valuable anymore, that scene wouldn’t exist. Take away an item’s value and you take away the a large part of excitement in the story.

@@retro527 Hermitcraft is about builds etc though right? Dream SMP is more roleplay and wars. I saw another comment using Dream giving Wilbur the stacks of TNT as an example. If they had automated farms, that wouldn't have mattered and wouldn't have been a big deal in the storyline. Same way people constantly stealing and trading items. If there was automation, those bits wouldn't really be as big as they'd want it to be.
they used to call a trial on killing, stealing etc. before but after the revolution killing has been so normalized 😷 the place where they hold trials is now one of the most unvisited areas on the smp lol

It's okay to upload these videos because you're promoting it to dream, but putting monetization on them, you're crossing the line, tommy said so, you can upload them, but giving it ads, you're making money with someone's content, without even editing it, that's stealing

@@mjproject7072 No technoblade got 2 mobs that only spawn on Halloween. It was a zombie piglin and a zombie skeleton with jack-o-lanterns on their heads. They don't burn in the sun either. He calls them his butlers.
So he has 2 very killable mobs that he cares very deeply about and were super hard to get to his base. If Sapnap kills them, techno would LOSE IT because he can't get them again until next halloween.

Regarding the "Automation is the killer of al SMPs":
It is only true if it fits the playstyle of you and your friends
In most SMPs, automation makes players have more fun, because they can work on projects that they would never do if they had to collect everything by hand. Maybe you want to make a massive build, or organize a fun game that all the members can play, this is not possible without automation, at least not in a reasonable amount of time
The Dream SMP has this roleplay element that most SMPs don't have. The way they have fun in the server doesn't require a lot of resources. In the case of the Dream SMP, automation would kill it, because of the way it functions. But for most SMPs, this is the opposite
Just looks at some of the most popular SMPs out there, like Hermitcraft or Scicraft. Even Elitecraft if you speak Spanish. A lack of automation would kill those servers
Dream should have said that automation would kill the Dream SMP specifically, because saying that it kills all SMPs is wrong, stupid, and the farthest thing from reality ever
It kills most SMPs because most are survival based. You picked a few specific examples that are very unique. So, think for a second the sheer number there have been over the years and how few are around today......yeah there's a reason for that. Automation is a big killer for people making PUBLIC content. The big personalities that come together get bored when the dragon is dead, they are wealthy beyond all reason, and the game is won.
Private smps on the other hand are s very different story. They can last due to mutual interest by hanging out with friends as something you worked with people you know to build. These people who make SMPs for content don't have that relationship. So your personal experience and enjoyment is not valid in this argument. Now, this is coming from a SkyFactory player, I love the automation, but it makes for a terrible UA-cam worthy
smp. Captainsparklez and X33N did a series on Sky Factory 4, but they had to end it because they had too little left to do in the game that would be interesting for viewers.
@@void405 I don't disagree entirely, but you could also argue the reverse is true - what about SMP Earth which was largely RP based. It simply depends on the players.

Reason #1: the players will get op TOO fast
#2: the players will easily get bored and not play anymore since they won't have to grind
#3: if dream didn't do what he did, there wouldn't be any wars/content that we get now (this is an old stream btw)

Yea those machines, while nice, arent really good for an smp unless the smp's goal is making these machines like SciCraft. DreamSMP is story driven, adventure based. Hermitcraft and scicraft are mechanic driven, build based.
Honestly I think it’s good that dream nerfed the smp, because you can get PROTECTION 4 armour and stuff like Mending and more and just way too many op stuff

But in the recent Dream smp Tubbo has jungle villagers and even dream knows it. So they changed the rules?
They were just taking it too far. Every villager was OP and Dream has always said not to do villager breeding. He killed a lot of villagers already and they didn't learn. They were about to make a farm for infinite iron. That would have been too op.
Dream killed all the OP ones of them and allowed the rest cause it was going to be tubbos way of collecting resources for the war happening at that time. He also said no to all breeders and allowed trading from villages, as long as no villager farms were created like the one in the video.

Dream killed select ones in the jungle so it's not too game breaking like the Sharpness V guy, but he still left most of them.

Dream didnt ban techno, because day 2 of techno he already has full netherite armor and on day 3 already proc4 armors
Yeah but he grinded out most of that. He ground out all of the netherite himself by hand. He mined out a lot of diamonds by hand, only a few were given to him. He used and enchant table and books for most of his enchants. He had a whole saga trying to get mending. So he played the game as intended. Remember when Wilbur did a stream and asked how long ago techno logged in and the said he never logged of after playing for 17 hours straight? Yeah techno has a lot of op stuff, but he worked for it and it would be hard for him to get it back. Some of his stuff, he puts away in storage chests when he is out in case he dies to keep it safe because he realizes how hard if will be for him to get some of that stuff back

It's because Dream's mom just rips on content without adding anything to it. Dream said he liked Mugo's content for a reason. However this clip is both better and worse. It's a really old clip, but a lot of people didn't know that. There is no context just a video, such bad quality content that the hate is kinda deserved. If they did a few text cards between sceens letting the viewers know what's going on, it would be slightly better, but that's still just ripping content.
I thought its the continuation of the dreamon hunt cause it said "ft. Tubbo,Sapnap, and fundy" 😞😭
