Spider-man 1, despite having a crap ton of side content in a single city that might get boring sometimes, at least it connects the player to New York and the people, like helping a student find a friend or having to save a Spider-man impersonator. All that Spider-man 2 does is make you help people illegally setting off fireworks and talking to two old people who are gonna die (a mission that’s basically a cutscene with minimal gameplay) Even Spider-man 1’s art style is better, it’s not as “realistic” but the art style looks nicer and brighter.
The worst thing is, what your asking isn’t THAT hard to implement. But Sony forced them to release it, before it was close to finished. To this day, they’re still improving lighting, fixing suits, and adding stuff that should’ve been on launch. In an interview with with the main dev, he states that “they weren’t going to reach the quality standard that is expected at insomniac” because it just haaaaddd to come out for the holidays. If the game got released today, it would still need polishing, but it’s a lot harder to fix a game that’s already out. That’s why almost every new update breaks something. At the end of the day, Sony ruined this franchise, and while I adore this game, Sony saw how well this game did. So likely, they’ll rush insomniac again.
