Then again, you could have used some of your regular monthly investments and taken out insurance policies that would not only have paid you a significant lump sum upon diagnosis but also continued to pay you up to 60% of your previous net income, tax-free all the way up until you reached your retirement age. You could be sitting back, financially comfortable and you would still have had all of your investment pot as the cream on top.
The reason why so many Americans have a channel is because Google UA-cam is a con. UA-camrs make money not on how many subscribers but how many people watch from a given country and guess which country you can make more money from your video yep USA. That's why there isn't many youtubers from other countries making any money because their not American and there products are not geared towards and American audience what a con.

I really appreciate you taking the time to do these videos. I've been looking into setting up my stocks & shares ISA with Vanguard. I haven't started yet because I've been paying off my business' credit card debt for the past 7 months. Made some mistakes and had to get rid of that debt ASAP before I could even start investing in index funds. Now that that's paid off, I have a second source of income, and am working on creating a couple more, I can start saving and investing for the long term. I'm also working on getting all my pension funds together in one single place where my current employer pays in and matches my contributions.

Schools should teach kids how to be financially stable. Unfortunately, most of the teachers don’t even know how. Society doesn’t want everyone to good with money, they wouldn’t see any of it then.
Great video explaining my options! Im 21 and want to start investing for the long term. I plan on putting £200 a month into my isa account to begin with.
After watching this video I opened a Vanguard Life Strategy 80% as you gave me the confidence to start investing. I am looking at a five / ten year plan to help pay off my mortgage earlier. I deposited the £500 and have set up a direct debit for £100 a month. I am a complete beginner but will happily except the risk if it means in the long run I get a good return on my savings rather than leaving it in my bank account.

Sorry for late reply Really pleased so far with rate of return . I checked my account tonight and Personal rate of return was +14.97% yesterday it was around 13% so has increased overnight. When I first invested there were some weeks of negative return but as I am investing for at least five years I am not going to worry about having some negative returns I do have more money to invest and could add to this ISA but volatility due to the virus makes me hesitant so may just continue with £100 a month until I feel confident in the market Sorry not using financial jargon as a complete newbie to stocks and shares and get all my information from these videos Hope that helps

This is a 10 to 15 year investment for me, but I aired on the side of caution and opted for the 60% equity - just given the current climate.

Just a brilliant video and channel, I'm officially now investing in the stock market, I 100% know that I'm smart enough to create a market or manipulate one, but I know I have the sense to invest my money in people and companies who can, your videos have been huge in diminishing any anxiety when it comes to investing as I have at current a nice amount sat in the bank doing nothing for me, so thank you.

Good plan - I would also look at the Lifetime ISA so that you can build up a deposit for a home even with their 25% top up and you can save up to £4k a year even that way.

Great videos! I'm coming up to drawing my pensions (both DB and DC), as well as having a modest amount of cash which is doing absolutely nothing and getting eroded by inflation. I know I should be doing better, and already really know what that should be, but have been seeking financial advice to confirm my views. These guys are tending to come back with figures from 1-2% ongoing, which works out at ~£7k a year - plus an initial fee in some cases! You've crystallized my thoughts that I should really do this myself, as it's not that complicated! All I need to do now is work out a pipeline and spread for the investments so that I have it working equitiy markets in the longer timeframe as well as less volatile 2-3 year investments which I can turn into an annual cash withdrawal and how I keep on top of managing the proportions and use up ISA allowances. Have you done anything on drawing out strategy? 🙂
Very helpful video to make me think and do something extra and different to what I have done so far but with time factor been more critical as Im at the point of retirement and looking ways to manage the limited resources that I have. Thanks for all the info you are shearing.
The video really helps! I was planning to open a Vanguard ISA account! But I start panicking when I saw the fund choosing page! Btw, maybe you can increase the volume when you talk. Because it is kind of hard for me to hear you clearly on a maximum volume. I am not sure if any other people have a similar experience with me.
You can always get advice to help....investing is one of the best things a person can learn to do...I started putting my money in investment ISAs 20 years ago when they were released. With the help of them, I am now financially secure. This book “How to Make Money in ISAs and SIPPs” by Stephen Sutherland is a really good introduction on the subject and is a fairly easy read. As I said get financial advice if your not sure...and good luck on your financial journey.
The point of putting cash in an ISA Is generally because you wanted to use your yearly allowance otherwise it is gone, also if you think something may be going down soon and you can buy lower than it is today.

Hi Jennifer, I really enjoy and appreciate your videos - most of the other investment channels on youtube are mostly US oriented, and we needed something equivalent to the UK for a long time. So, thank you for doing that! Anyway, I have a question in regards of ISAs - can I have Cash Lifetime ISA (£4K) with one bank and Stocks and Shares ISA (£16K) with another bank in the same financial year?
I understand it’s generating an income but there’s also then a large amount of money that remains untouched while you live off the interest each year - what are you suggestion is the plan for the lump sum? When do you start pulling that because surely you want to use it before you die?
What are your thoughts on investing mostly in your education and potentially a side business idea when you have a lot of free time on your hands? One thing I've realized over the past few months is that I can save about £1k a month if I scrimp and save but I'm capped there so I might be better off investing in finding a way to make more money long term / achieve a bit of passive/semi-passive income.
What a great question Daniel - so I am a massive fan of education and business ideas. I would say though try to put 10% if you can into an investment passive income and then use any spare money for your education and ideas. I actually have created a money percentage strategy with all this in mind (education/investing/living life) and sharing that next week is the plan. Watch this space! I think you will love it!
I am 27yo and as I followed a medical career, I started working late so I only managed to have a small amount of saving this year. I am worried that I will make the wrong investment moves but following your channel gives me a small piece of mind. A major worry for a person who starts getting into investing these days is the upcoming crash...I personally feel that I lack the experience to take advantage of this once in a lifetime chance and it is so annoying. Can you give us a few tips about it? What should we do when the crash happens and when should we start acting? thanks :)
Just to elaborate on the 'cash' investment side of Vanguard/ISAs. This isn't really meant to just be a cash holding like you would use a typical bank account. Instead you can put cash into your ISA, and then use that cash to purchase your funds/ETFs. For example, at the end of the 2018 tax year, i put a lump sum of cash into my S&S ISA, and now have a balance i am able to use at any point in 2019 (or beyond).You can put £20k into your ISA each year, but do this any time within the tax year. For anyone considering Vanguard but isn't sure what funds to purchase straight away, just deposit cash into it first and then you can use that cash to purchase. Highly recommend everyone tries Vanguard.

My question is, my monthly dd is £100 investing each month to the S&P 500, i checked my vanguard account and the rate of exchange from my uk investment transferred into $ was $63.45?! so i now have £36...in my account, what do i do now? I know the rate of exchange will differ but now what??? If i purchase a stock eg. cost will be £7.50 and now what do i do? many many thanks 😊

HI there - I would say don't worry about which option but rather the habit of investing regularly as part of your money strategy really is where you will benefit long term. No way to predict if one month your money would be worth more with a lump sum, so just do whatever suits you best to budget and live life :O) Great question!
Vanguard revealed statistics that suggested that a lump sum investment was the better option 66% of the time. Trouble is, as Jenny said, it's near impossible to predict the market and most of us have no other choice but to drip feed because we invest from our salaries.
Hi, A couple of questions please. I’m sat here having started the application for 100% with £500 deposit and £250 DD pcm. I’m 50 years old but very fortunate to already be receiving a pretty decent pension and am mortgage free, so although this money I’m investing is, I suppose money I can afford to lose (did I just say that? Lol), I would love to improve my retirement income further. 1. So, based on the above figures, the 1st year I would have invested £3,500. Can I add the other £16,500 at any point either with another lump sum or by increasing my DD? 2. Are the S&S ISAs like cash ISAs in that the ‘get money in by’ date is the beginning of April each year or is it from the date you open the account? 3. Once I’m withdrawing cash from it upon my retirement, if the % rate is low on any particular year, am I correct in thinking that I wouldn’t be getting my £20k (using your example from another of your videos) to live off that year? 4. Has anyone had one of these for over 5 years? If yes, would you mind giving us an indication of its success or lack of it? Came across your channel tonight and already watched 3 or 4 videos - great content! I am in Edinburgh and have just started investing, with property being my first and also started trading and investing in crypto. I'm now moving into stocks and shares so really finding your videos useful. I was recommended FreeTrade because of the ISA they offer with no fees at a cost of £2 or £3 per month (can't remember exactly now). I think I noticed a link to Freetrade on your other video so do you have a Vanguard account and a Freetrade account? Vanguard looks good so it's definitely one I'll look into. Thanks!

Cash ISA rates can be better than you describe if you lock for six months or longer. Should also be considered as part of a balanced portfolio. With investments past performance can never be an indicator of future performance.

@@Roastedpotato1441 not sure but same thing happens to me around my mates and I'm in the UK. it's just weird or nerdy to some people to talk about things like stocks. Friends ask me if I'm personally interested in finance/wanting to pursue it as a career like becoming a stockbroker, and when I tell them "no, I'm more creatively oriented, I usually find finance boring", they get even more confused. Schools don't normalize investing by teaching lessons on how to manage personal finance so some people still have the idea that this stuff is niche and for rich people.

Welcome Back Jen! Good to see you back in the swing of things! Set up my first investment ISA a few months back after finding one of your previous videos and so far so good, drip feeding disposable income monthly and it’s long term 5yr plan looks favourable and better then my banks saving rates lol

Great videos! I'm coming up to drawing my pensions (both DB and DC), as well as having a modest amount of cash which is doing absolutely nothing and getting eroded by inflation.
I know I should be doing better, and already really know what that should be, but have been seeking financial advice to confirm my views. These guys are tending to come back with figures from 1-2% ongoing, which works out at ~£7k a year - plus an initial fee in some cases!
You've crystallized my thoughts that I should really do this myself, as it's not that complicated!
All I need to do now is work out a pipeline and spread for the investments so that I have it working equitiy markets in the longer timeframe as well as less volatile 2-3 year investments which I can turn into an annual cash withdrawal and how I keep on top of managing the proportions and use up ISA allowances.
Have you done anything on drawing out strategy? 🙂
Could you do a video on using Vanguard for non isa index funds?
Very helpful video to make me think and do something extra and different to what I have done so far but with time factor been more critical as Im at the point of retirement and looking ways to manage the limited resources that I have. Thanks for all the info you are shearing.
The video really helps! I was planning to open a Vanguard ISA account! But I start panicking when I saw the fund choosing page! Btw, maybe you can increase the volume when you talk. Because it is kind of hard for me to hear you clearly on a maximum volume. I am not sure if any other people have a similar experience with me.
You can always get advice to help....investing is one of the best things a person can learn to do...I started putting my money in investment ISAs 20 years ago when they were released. With the help of them, I am now financially secure. This book “How to Make Money in ISAs and SIPPs” by Stephen Sutherland is a really good introduction on the subject and is a fairly easy read. As I said get financial advice if your not sure...and good luck on your financial journey.

The point of putting cash in an ISA Is generally because you wanted to use your yearly allowance otherwise it is gone, also if you think something may be going down soon and you can buy lower than it is today.

Hi Jennifer, I really enjoy and appreciate your videos - most of the other investment channels on youtube are mostly US oriented, and we needed something equivalent to the UK for a long time. So, thank you for doing that! Anyway, I have a question in regards of ISAs - can I have Cash Lifetime ISA (£4K) with one bank and Stocks and Shares ISA (£16K) with another bank in the same financial year?

I understand it’s generating an income but there’s also then a large amount of money that remains untouched while you live off the interest each year - what are you suggestion is the plan for the lump sum? When do you start pulling that because surely you want to use it before you die?

What are your thoughts on investing mostly in your education and potentially a side business idea when you have a lot of free time on your hands? One thing I've realized over the past few months is that I can save about £1k a month if I scrimp and save but I'm capped there so I might be better off investing in finding a way to make more money long term / achieve a bit of passive/semi-passive income.
What a great question Daniel - so I am a massive fan of education and business ideas. I would say though try to put 10% if you can into an investment passive income and then use any spare money for your education and ideas. I actually have created a money percentage strategy with all this in mind (education/investing/living life) and sharing that next week is the plan. Watch this space! I think you will love it!
I am 27yo and as I followed a medical career, I started working late so I only managed to have a small amount of saving this year. I am worried that I will make the wrong investment moves but following your channel gives me a small piece of mind. A major worry for a person who starts getting into investing these days is the upcoming crash...I personally feel that I lack the experience to take advantage of this once in a lifetime chance and it is so annoying. Can you give us a few tips about it? What should we do when the crash happens and when should we start acting? thanks :)

Just to elaborate on the 'cash' investment side of Vanguard/ISAs. This isn't really meant to just be a cash holding like you would use a typical bank account. Instead you can put cash into your ISA, and then use that cash to purchase your funds/ETFs. For example, at the end of the 2018 tax year, i put a lump sum of cash into my S&S ISA, and now have a balance i am able to use at any point in 2019 (or beyond).You can put £20k into your ISA each year, but do this any time within the tax year. For anyone considering Vanguard but isn't sure what funds to purchase straight away, just deposit cash into it first and then you can use that cash to purchase. Highly recommend everyone tries Vanguard.

My question is, my monthly dd is £100 investing each month to the S&P 500, i checked my vanguard account and the rate of exchange from my uk investment transferred into $ was $63.45?! so i now have £36...in my account, what do i do now? I know the rate of exchange will differ but now what??? If i purchase a stock eg. cost will be £7.50 and now what do i do? many many thanks 😊

HI there - I would say don't worry about which option but rather the habit of investing regularly as part of your money strategy really is where you will benefit long term. No way to predict if one month your money would be worth more with a lump sum, so just do whatever suits you best to budget and live life :O) Great question!
Vanguard revealed statistics that suggested that a lump sum investment was the better option 66% of the time. Trouble is, as Jenny said, it's near impossible to predict the market and most of us have no other choice but to drip feed because we invest from our salaries.

A couple of questions please. I’m sat here having started the application for 100% with £500 deposit and £250 DD pcm. I’m 50 years old but very fortunate to already be receiving a pretty decent pension and am mortgage free, so although this money I’m investing is, I suppose money I can afford to lose (did I just say that? Lol), I would love to improve my retirement income further.
1. So, based on the above figures, the 1st year I would have invested £3,500. Can I add the other £16,500 at any point either with another lump sum or by increasing my DD?
2. Are the S&S ISAs like cash ISAs in that the ‘get money in by’ date is the beginning of April each year or is it from the date you open the account?
3. Once I’m withdrawing cash from it upon my retirement, if the % rate is low on any particular year, am I correct in thinking that I wouldn’t be getting my £20k (using your example from another of your videos) to live off that year?
4. Has anyone had one of these for over 5 years? If yes, would you mind giving us an indication of its success or lack of it? No figures (unless of course you’re content to do so!) but even %s would be brilliant.

Came across your channel tonight and already watched 3 or 4 videos - great content! I am in Edinburgh and have just started investing, with property being my first and also started trading and investing in crypto. I'm now moving into stocks and shares so really finding your videos useful. I was recommended FreeTrade because of the ISA they offer with no fees at a cost of £2 or £3 per month (can't remember exactly now). I think I noticed a link to Freetrade on your other video so do you have a Vanguard account and a Freetrade account? Vanguard looks good so it's definitely one I'll look into. Thanks!

Cash ISA rates can be better than you describe if you lock for six months or longer. Should also be considered as part of a balanced portfolio. With investments past performance can never be an indicator of future performance.

Its strange seeing someone from the UK making a video about investments. I'm from Ireland and if you mention investments they look at you weird or tell you your crazy.
@@Roastedpotato1441 not sure but same thing happens to me around my mates and I'm in the UK. it's just weird or nerdy to some people to talk about things like stocks. Friends ask me if I'm personally interested in finance/wanting to pursue it as a career like becoming a stockbroker, and when I tell them "no, I'm more creatively oriented, I usually find finance boring", they get even more confused. Schools don't normalize investing by teaching lessons on how to manage personal finance so some people still have the idea that this stuff is niche and for rich people.
