The birth story of our seventh child, Benjamin James. Born at home on 6/21/2020 To learn more about our family follow us on Instagram @threerivershomestead
I’m 36 weeks with my first, and we just switched from a hospital birth plan to a home birth plan! Our name we have picked out- Benjamin James! I had a huge smile when you announced his name :)
Made me so emotional you talking about your girls watching and learning all about childbirth. So sweet it melts my heart! Congratulations on your sweet baby boy! I’m 40 weeks tomorrow and very ready to meet my third little boy 🥰. I’m trying to channel your patience lol
Congratulations! I am the same way, apologizing during my births for others discomfort. 🙂 We are expecting number 8, our 7th home birth, in September. Thank you for sharing your story!
Well I am probably one of a few of your followers that can relate. Our fourth child was born bottom first at home by my husband. Man was that an experience. That was 35 years ago. We were broke and could not even afford a midwife. Our oldest watched the other 2 children. She was very helpful. It was like birthing a basketball full inflated. It was an experience. He weighed 8 lbs. Both Don and I were scared but I was experienced. No medication and butt first what a ride now that I recall it. Every labor and delivery is different. They are kind of like was stories. A few years later my sweet husband had a kidney stone. It was tiny gravel. Well the doctor told hi, that it is like giving birth. He said oh my gosh she has done this 4 times already. I told him sweetly suck it up buttercup. Lol. You are doing a great job. Adam is a good dad. I really enjoy all you have to say.
Finally got myself a few minutes to sit down and hear Benjamin's birth story. I do love a good birth story and I've read so many of yours over the years, it's really fun to actually see and hear you tell this one! He's beautiful and in the best of hands. All those loving arms fighting over holding him.
I’m a new subscriber and I have been watching old videos! This is such an awesome birth story! I’m actually in my last semester of nursing school and in my Maternity rotation. So, this is even more special to hear!
Very new to your channel, and I am crying. Like, literal tears... listening to you tell this beautiful story. I think what really got me, was hearing that you chose to include your older girls. I got to watch my Mom deliver children when I was 11 and 13 years old. It definitely impacted me in a positive way as I felt very connected to my baby siblings. You seem like a lovely person, thank you for sharing your story. 🌻❤
Thank you for sharing such a beautiful and vulnerable moment with us! I’m overdue and planning on having our baby girl at home. This was a great video for me to watch in mentally preparing myself for my upcoming labor.
Thank you so much for sharing! Because my first was an emergency c-section and the way I was cut, my other 2 were also c-section. So I never got to experience natural childbirth and I miss that. Congratulations again on your sweet baby boy!!! So glad he's here and both of you are doing good!!
When I was 11yrs old I was present at my little sister's birth. I thought it was so intriguing. I'm grateful that I got to experience it! Congratulations to you and your family! Thank you for sharing 🌷
This was such a beautiful story, thank you for sharing this with us! I had 2 girls and 1 boy, and both my girls were posterior! For our littlest, our older two watched her be born and it was such a special moment for all of us.
I just recently found your channel. We have so much in common. I have seven kids and my last baby boy was born last year also was stock. He was 10 pound 3 ounces. His name also Benny. The difference I never wanted to be alone during labor. I forced my husband to push on pressure points on my hips. That helped the pain and made contractions stronger.
What a beautiful birth. Praise God. I have cried the whole time. All my babies were big. I am 67 years and remember everything. God is good. You are a beautiful mother. God Bless you for bringing all these 7 babies to earth. I loved this. Even thro I cried the whole time. You are a wonderful mother. I am so glad I found your videos. I am not on instagram so I will have to watch these. God Bless your sweet family. God is so good.
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for sharing your home birth experience. Our family is preparing for our 2nd grandchild due to be delivered at home. Your video is very helpful for me as a grandmother to know that giving the mom-to-be space is a gift. Thank you, God Bless you and your lovely family! Mary
Thank you for sharing your beautiful story. I had our youngest child at home with a midwife in 1981. My husband cut the cord. After 40 years those memories are still vivid and precious!
It's something I used to dream about, but now I'm not sure I could handle the hours and being on call for weeks with everything else I have going on. Maybe one day when my children are grown.
I know what I say is lost in loads of your other friends/comments. I personally will never get to have a family inviting us into your life and sharing such a personal story as touched me so much I can't thank u enough. u let me come on a personal journey with you and your family I will never get to experience. Thank you u have no idea how your videos help. Massive hugs x x
You’re so strong! I remember having those same thoughts both during my first and my second labor. All I can say is this time around I really leaned into the Lord and felt His peace, God bless you!
I just happened to see your channel on UA-cam and wanted to see what you guys were about. And WOW was I amazed with your strength with your delivery. Having your children be apart of his birth I can tell was extremely special to you. I only was blessed with one child and when he was born he came out like gang busters. Mine too was 8lbs 4oz and 21 1/2 inches long. Sending warm thoughts along with hugs and kisses that you are both well. It is going to be interesting to see what your families adventure is going forward. Stay Safe, Be Well and Keep Smiling.
I’m the same way in labor, worrying about everyone else! With my second I hired a doula, and that was so helpful. I never had the option for home births due to other health concerns, so my babies have always been born in hospitals (one epidural, one without any interventions), and having someone else I could mentally give responsibility to everyone else was so helpful. ETA: my two were 10lb7oz and 10lb13oz :)
What a great birth story! Thank you sor sharing, I wished I had a story like yours. My first was very large 9-9, and I never got bigger than 3” so they had to take her by cessation after 19 hours of labor. All my other births were the same, a c section. But they were healthy and now are adults. Glad he was healthy and born safely sor you. Hugs and love from Texas.
What a beautiful birth story! I had a sunny side up baby but I had never heard of it until he was born, they never told me he was posterior before I had him.
Loved this story! Thanks for sharing! It sounds a lot like the birth of my last baby. Though the midwives didn’t give me enough of a chance to push the baby out at home and transferred me to the hospital. I was really bummed they didn’t try more at home as her heart rate did recover really well and when she was born it was clear she wasn’t ever in distress. Those posterior babies!!!
Welcome to the newborn baby and I pray to Holy God for you and baby good health , strength , freshness . God bless you and all family having a wonderful time in the present of Holy God .
Aww that's a wonderful birth story. I found your channel through Sarah's channel through the August challenge.. I will be following you from now on ❤💛💚🤢💜💙💝🥰
Expecting #7 and this was so interesting to hear. A lot of similarities in personality and laboring. I have never had a posterior birth and wondered if the Lord led me to watch this. Always an encouragement and reminder that our bodies were built for this. My girls were present for my water home birth #6 at ages 8 and 10. My oldest decided it was her last😂. He was 18 days late, so I was definitely ready. So sweet, thank you for sharing.
I had 4 babies, and by my 4th pregnancy I totally felt like I was going to bottom out for the last month or so! I can't imagine 7! My mother had 6 and my grandmother had 9 and I wondered how in the world they were able to carry that many without bottoming out! LOL. And the more babies you have, the more you have to do, which makes it even more of a challenge physically. And you seem to handle everything with such grace and calmness and serenity. Also, I have to say, you look *so* beautiful with your hair up in a bun like you had it for your labor and delivery! Just lovely. :)
Thankful that midwives are even better trained than most MDs to know how to manage a difficult situation in less time than a C-section could have happened in hospital setting. This was case with my first grandchild when she delivered at a birth center
I love that you were able to have the birth you wanted, in the way your were comfortable, and that your girls were filled with the Awe and Majesty of God's creation (what our bodies can do). This touched my heart. Praying for you, your husband and all of your children. I found you from the every bit counts challenge. I am really enjoying your preserving videos.
Enjoyed hearing your story. We just welcomed our 7th six weeks ago! We had a similar labor patter, though we were in a hospital. It's funny that you mentioned knowing you're in transition by when you start feeling discouraged and seem more hopeless. I am the same way, except I usually don't make the connection. I'm usually in denial. My husband notices and can always tell when we're getting close to meeting baby, even while I'm thinking, "this is taking forever" or "I can't do this."
Loved hearing this. My 5th was postierer with a 15 cm head, she came nose first:-)! She was one of my most difficult. I'm currently expecting our 9th and looking forward to a birth center birth for the first time. I'm older too. Having babies in my 30's is not the same as having babies in my 20's!
So happy the girls had such a beautiful experience with their newest brother…he’s gorgeous and quite a hefty guy…wonderful all worked out so well…blessings wished for all …
I loved to hear your story! Congratulations on little Benjamin! It reminds me of my little guys birth 8 weeks ago. This was the first time my water broke in early labor too! Such an odd feeling. This birth was one of my harder to push births with him being born with his fist by his head and his umbilical cord around his shoulder like a tight seat belt 🤦🏼♀️
My son was also born in summer last year (July 19th 2020). Although I planned on a home birth we did choose the hospital but was still able to have him naturally. My second baby :-) I find it amazing how you manage 7 children! I still have trouble with 2. 😂
I was just 18 when my wonderful son was born. He was posterior and trying to come out my back. I had a wonderful nurse who helped me through labor and he was small but perfect.
With my 4th I was 3 weeks late. My water broke and I didn’t deliver for another 3 days. That mental torture of having to wait for labor to kick in was so difficult.
My 3rd son was born chin first.. His face was extremely bruised swollen with abrasions on his cheeks nose and eyelids.. My midwife told me it normally isn't possible to push out a baby in that position.. He is 16 now and has 1" to 2" in diameter scars on his cheeks. It was very scary but he healed fast.. I enjoyed listening to your birth story.. Love that your daughters could be involved
Beautiful birth story. We are so thankful we allowed our daughter to experience the birth of her 2 younger siblings. It is something important that is missing in our modern society. I agree.... Absolutely empowering for them. Birth is amazing and glad all went well! :)
I'm 41 weeks today and I'm thinking of asking for a membrane sweep today. I'm so ready for my Baby! I too have home births. Congratulations on your little man!
I had seven babies too all but the first were natural. I related a lot to this delivery with my 6th baby. I always wanted to kind of be alone too. The zoning in to your body was so important. However I never wanted my kids there. But I had my kids pretty close. My girls would be too young to watch. My 5th baby was that big. That makes a big difference too. good job mama.
My 5th born was 9'12 and I had the hardest time pushing him out as well. All of my other children have been between 7'4- and 7'13 so he was unexpectedly large. His head was over 15 cm and his ribs were wide. The doctor literally pulled him out as I pushed whereas my other babies except my 1st was 1 or 2 pushes.
Beautiful story! Congratulations! I have six children, all of whom were born in the hospital. I wished that I could have done it your way! It took having the sixth child to realize that we weren't doing any vaccines either. My biggest was 10 lbs. 9 and 1/2 ounces.! I didn't know that I could make them that big!! LOL!! You have a blessed family! What part of Ohio are you in? (If you don't mind me asking...I'm originally from Napoleon, between Defiance and Toledo). Been in Florida for 37 years now...Wishing you all the best!! Be safe!!
First time watching your channel and what a dousy. Ill be binge watching now. I love the name are you going to. Call him Bengy. Thanks for sharing I'm 58 and had to Google posterial position lol
He is a very big baby God bless him☺🙏. I had 4 c sections and my first was emergency. Even though I had my first by c section on my second child i worked really hard with walking and eating right . my water broke with my second and unfortunately the doctor said that my babies do not end up directly on my Cervix cause its tilted so the rest were scheduled. Thanks for sharing🎂☺.
my son was 4 days late and i was so ready went to the doctor for regular appt and was rushed to hospital for emergency c-section not planned and my daughter was 9 days early emergency c-section again so i never got to have a regular birth so watching normal births make me happy for those moms and kinda sad for me congrats hugssssss
My second baby was a home birth and also posterior. I didnt have any pain meds and managed to deliver him quite easily in a 6 hour labour. Oh but I was young and flexible in thosr days!
I find my self praying for the Mom who you speak of. I have been present for several births, as an extra set of hands, someone who can help out with cooking and cleaning, and supporting families in any way they need. I am not a midwife, but I have seen a new midwife struggle with the responsibility of a challenging birth. The Mother felt very uncomfortable, so we loaded her into my van, and she delivered at the hospital (which was a blessing as the cord was wrapped twice around the baby's neck) And a homebirth might have resulted in stillbirth. I have found that the instincts of a Mother during the birthing should be listened to. If the Mom wants to change her mind during delivery, it needs to be respected. And if the midwife is in over her head, then we need to see that she gets some mentoring from a midwife with more experience. I have also seen Mothers who really did not need a midwife present. Their bodies knew what to do, their husbands knew what to do, and that is truly beautiful to witness.
That’s amazing! I think it’s so great that your girls were involved. I had my first homebirth recently with my 7th and it was 51 minutes total from the time I woke up. Fast, but beautiful and I would 100% do it again 😍
I’m 36 weeks with my first, and we just switched from a hospital birth plan to a home birth plan! Our name we have picked out- Benjamin James! I had a huge smile when you announced his name :)
Prayers for a healthy delivery for you and baby.
How did it go? ❤️

Have you ever considered being a midwife? You have so much knowledge, wisdom and experience! What a wonderful story! So happy for you.
It's something I used to dream about, but now I'm not sure I could handle the hours and being on call for weeks with everything else I have going on. Maybe one day when my children are grown.
She’d be wonderful!!!

You are an awesome woman, a real role model for many. Great story.
I loved your birth story!!❣❣ Congratulations to your family😍
I’m the same way in labor, worrying about everyone else!

I don't know why I watched this.... I winced so many times throughout it... you are a very strong woman! Props to you! :)
Congratulations and welcome to the family baby Benjamin. Take care.
What a beautiful birth story! I had a sunny side up baby but I had never heard of it until he was born, they never told me he was posterior before I had him.
Wonderful story. Thank you for sharing. God bless you and baby and family. ❤
What a beautiful story. Thank you for sharing.
I loved listening to your birth story. God is great. 🙏❤️
I'm so thank full Everything went well bless your family and a new baby.
What a beautiful GERBER baby. He is so precious!
I think it’s wonderful that the girls were present in the birth process.
Beautiful family, beautiful story!
That’s a great birth story. 9 lbs! Wow. You go girl.
You are amazing. What a sweet loving soul you are.
Welcome to the newborn baby and I pray to Holy God for you and baby good health , strength , freshness .

Aww that's a wonderful birth story. I found your channel through Sarah's channel through the August challenge.. I will be following you from now on ❤💛💚🤢💜💙💝🥰
What a beautiful story. Ive had 7 children too, my heaviest was 7lb 9ozs and that was my only girl ;-) Awww he is gorgeous. xx
This is awesome. Good job, Benjamin! 😁✌🏼
Expecting #7 and this was so interesting to hear. A lot of similarities in personality and laboring. I have never had a posterior birth and wondered if the Lord led me to watch this. Beautiful birth story. Such a big gorgeous boy!

Isn’t that the truth I had my first at 21 and my second at36 then my third was at 38 years old and it so much harder as you get older
So happy the girls had such a beautiful experience with their newest brother…he’s gorgeous and quite a hefty guy…wonderful all worked out so well…blessings wished for all …
just became a new sub..been waiting all your videos 💞 Blessings
I've had all my kids present at each birth. So amazing, I think that's how it should be!

Just Precious❤️💕❤️
He is the cutest baby.
my son was 4 days late and i was so ready went to the doctor for regular appt and was rushed to hospital for emergency c-section not planned and my daughter was 9 days early emergency c-section again so i never got to have a regular birth so watching normal births make me happy for those moms and kinda sad for me congrats hugssssss
My second baby was a home birth and also posterior. I didnt have any pain meds and managed to deliver him quite easily in a 6 hour labour. Oh but I was young and flexible in thosr days!
I'm glad everything went well for you . I know someone who didn't have such a great out come. The baby died. Her midwife was helpless.
I’m pregnant with my seventh, and doing a home birth, you’re story brings me hope!!
