Dear Vanessa, Help! I am new to your channel and LOVE it!!!! I have a ‘Centers’ question. I teach a PreK class (4-5 years old) and would announce 5 different centers, and then pick names to have the children choose which center to go to. However, popular centers would fill up first, and some children would end up going somewhere they didn’t want originally. We do circulate and each child goes to every center I have out. I also had to adjust as certain personalities would not get along. Any suggestions for this coming year?!?!? Thank you for this channel!
Thanks for watching! I have lots of suggestions for you. First, we have a session on this topic at this year's Soar to Success Summit, the session is titled "The Missing Puzzle Piece that Turns Center Time into an Executive Function Skills Powerhouse!" You can register to attend the conference for free at www.soartosuccesssummit.com I also have a podcast episode all about centers where I address this topic, ua-cam.com/video/g3GAT2DmgY4/v-deo.html (this topic starts at timestamp 12:00) I have much more than that, but these two things will give you a good start.
What do you do if everyone wants to go to the same center at the same time? In my class, the kitchen and blocks are popular. Also, are they moving freely from center to center?
You gave us a lot of great information to think about and to consider. Thank you.
Great video! Very useful tips😊
