  • In this last video, we get to go ashore to see NYNJ SW1500 1133 as it offloads cars from the barge and into 65th Street Yard. At first, the cars are taken off part way, then the train cuts away and heads to the other track. This is to offset the balance of the barge so that it doesn't tip over. Once the four cars seen here are taken off the barge, then the other four that were pulled off a little bit will be taken off altogether, followed by the three cars in the middle. We would make another trip after this with more loads, but this was all the video I got, along with the others that are already posted. As a side note, I was under close supervision at all times, and both the NYNJ crew and the tugboat crew knew that I was there, and I took extreme care in being where I was, safely away from the train. Do not attempt to go to this location on your own, as this is a MARSEC area, and you will be arrested. I had special permission to be here. Enjoy the sight and sounds of the Roots Blown 645 of the 1133, as well as the very uncommon sight of offloading freight cars from barge to land. If you have any questions about the video, feel free to message me. Comments are welcome. The video was taken on September 20th, 2012.

This is in the Sunset Park section of Brooklyn, adjacent to the old Brooklyn Army Terminal and Bush Terminal.

Hi John. MARSEC (MARitime SECurity) is the three-tiered United States Coast Guard Maritime Security system designed to easily communicate to the Coast Guard and the maritime industry pre-planned scalable responses for credible threats. Its objective is to provide an assessment of possible terrorist activity within the maritime sectors of transportation, including threats to nautical facilities and vessels falling within the jurisdiction of the United States that could be targets of attack.

Worked this with my brother in '86. Freddy Breiman (SP?) Engineer, Steve Hernick CR/YM, Charlie Mass (Brakeman), Mr. DeSheers (Operations) & Mr (Frank) Dayton as (Owner?)... "Harry" (forgot his last name but read that he was gone.) My brother and I were TA M/M. "Unusual" operation that both of us had hoped to make some OT $$$ in (it was STILL NYCHRR). Hernick was ex-Lackawanna. Breiman was ex-Bush Terminal... Slap-dash and seriously "haphazard" operation but did the BEST with what they had! I "broke-in" for the Greenville Bridge Tower & Engine. Training was
