    - a note on people having the marker lights be turned on manually, it isn't to "look pretty at night" it's because a lot of people will install backup cameras on the side lights and they run off of the light power when you're plugged into your tow vehicle. By turning on the lights you can use your surround cameras as a surveillance system to see around your rig :)

    • @FindingJay

I did have them for my backup camera as security at night on my big camper but on this video I was referring to this particular setup but I also should have mentioned that😅. Another great informative video Jay. You do such great work. I've done several mods (D rings, propane cradle and awning) following your other vids. I'm wrestling with a heating decision for late fall/early spring and am wondering if you have any thoughts? Tried a Buddy Heater-too much moisture. Used a Kovea Cupid-nice little unit but not enough output. I'm thinking about a Camco Olympian Wave 3 mounted inside and running a line to stove supply. Thanks for posting.

    • @FindingJay
      @FindingJay  Рік тому +1

      Thank you so much🙏 . For heat I went a different route and to be honest I’m not sure if it would work for everyone. I installed an accessory outlet to an external plug that must be connected to at least 15amps of service. In my case I have my truck so in some ways I’m cheating😂 but if your using a vehicle with at least a 15amp outlet or if you do mostly campgrounds with sites that have power then it would work for you as well. The only way this wouldn’t work would be if your dispersed camping and have no form of power (generator) that you would bring along. It was super simple and literally cost pennies. I did upload a video “I don’t need no diesel heater” that shows what I did. I recently went camping with my buddy and the temps dropped down to 19 at night with winds and I plugged in a 1500 watt ceramic heater to the receptacle I installed and turned on my roof top unit and had to wake up in the middle of the night to turn one off. It works great but you need some sort of power for sure. I wouldn’t recommend propane heat as it is a wet heat that can cause mold and not recommended to run when your going to bed for multiple reasons. I follow “the Anderson adventures” and they are working on a heat system that there posting this next week . I hope this was some what helpful for you but here’s a link for them if it gives more ideas.

      I like that idea. I had a very similar idea myself. I was thinking of a collapsible table that would fall flat against the wall when not in use and fold up and lock in place when needed. The seats with storage is a great idea because storage is definitely something that’s needed. Maybe make it easily removable in case you needed the trailer to haul something one day but great idea. Dude this is such a sweet set up. I have wanted this for a while and will definitely try to copy that TV set up if I ever get one. Freaking brilliant and looks MINT. The only questions I have are the about the material used for the pop-out. Is it like a canvas, or thin tent fabric? Does it seem durable? Is it insulated or retain heat well? Is it waterproof or resistant?

    • @FindingJay
      @FindingJay  Рік тому +1

      Thank you 🙏. To answer some of your questions the material used for the pop out is canvas and I also had doubts but to be honest even though I thought it seemed thin it’s actually pretty durable and yes….water resistant. I was in a pretty hard rain before I bought the extra awning and other than the sounds of the rain drops hitting the canvas there wasn’t a single drop that came inside. Also it does hold in the heat and AC pretty good although it also will let it in if you don’t have a strong system or back up heater.

      Thank you 🙏. The bed is amazing and plenty of space for 2….maybe even a child or a pet. I’m 5’11 and no issues at all. The ceiling height on this I believe is 5’8 so you would have to bend your neck a bit when walking around but honestly once inside there’s really not much walking you would do……your either sitting down or laying down. Honestly feels very spacious with the bed popped out and bigger than what it is. I love this little camper. I’ve had big rv’s and if I knew what I know now I would have never spent so much money going that route. I highly recommend this unit. I’ll be making more videos soon of it in action and you’ll see more detailed use if it helps. • @harrymills2770
      @harrymills2770 Рік тому +1

      @@FindingJay I'll be checking back over time to see how your InTech holds up. The squaredrop build, with or without the tip-out, was the closest thing to a micro toy-hauler out there. The galley up front opens the back the way it should be open, for cargo, and for some people, their toys. Toy haulers that aren't "full RV height" are pretty rare. Explore was shorter than most of them.
      The InTech Pursue still has that open box in back, but is smaller. Still big enough to fit bikes, dirt bikes (motorized), or a small 3- or 4-wheeler. I looked it up. I think you could squeeze a 100, maybe a 150 or even a 250 cc dirt bike in a Pursue, if it had a rear door that opened either up or down to make a ramp (or a half-ramp, given how short it is and how short the back wall is, as a result. Other than the door configuration, which is side hinges, I wanted the front galley area to be unrestricted cargo, preferably part of the main cabin. I'd rather extend the main cabin into that space, and just have unrestricted cargo, front to back. Let ME decide where this, that, or the other goes, on any given trip.
      Your solutions for sink and toilet aren't unlike my own. I've dry-camped for so many years that I know what I need for water. It'd be nice to have 4-season running water "in-board," but by the time you've found a company that'll give you that, you're way out of my price range for a camper. But I can see starting as you're starting, and adding upgrades as I can afford them, eventually putting in the $30,000 I shied away from out of the gate.
      For me, the Explore is actually too TALL! If I were just running around the mountains in my vicinity, that'd be one thing. But after years of pickup camping in tents, I think a low-profile little trailer, like the Pursue, wouldn't put much of a dent in my gas mileage. For a long time, due in part to fond memories playing cards and board games in the back yard during rain and snow, I looked real hard at tent trailers because they're so efficient to tow, and I still might end up getting a basic off-road teardrop. But I looked into adding better suspension and lifting one of those mass-produced Jaycos. But a little research, and their frames just aren't built to take much of a beating. You can beef up the suspension enough to handle terrain that'll bend those frames.
      I like the way you married a 270 and a 180, which adds up to a lot more than 360, yet somehow doesn't.
      Something nobody has is an awning for over their camper, not just next to it. I wonder why nobody does anything to keep the sun off the campers, themselves. Some Aussie tent trailers do that.
      But that's something I've been thinking about making for my little camper when it shows up. Been looking at tarp bows they use to cover things like dump trucks. More of a rigid, tubular aluminum frame, with curved ribs running crossways to a central axis. Throw a big tarp over the whole thing, pin the edges of the tarp to your camper with bungees, and and keep the roof tight as a drum at all times. No flapping means no damage to the tarp in any kind of wind, so you could get away with one of those cheap blue plastic tarps for 50 or more outings. It'd work like a conestoga wagon in old westerns, and look like the top arch of one. The advantage is you could use square tarps and still have something proof against anything but fist-sized hail. Even the nice 180 and 270 awnings seem a little flimsy.
      Anyway, I've never seen anyone try that kind of awning. But with a cleverly designed - patented? - frame, you might be able to throw up an all-weather-proof square or rectangle roof made out of some big, cheap, blue-plastic tarps. They pack pretty small. Not perfectly. But you're gonna fold them back up about as well in a gale as you are in a calm. But you're likely to break something if you deploy or take in one of those fancy awnings in a gale. You don't want to use them, right when you need them most.
      This setup looks like it'd be proof against a gale. Maybe not setting up or taking down in a gale, but he's got those awnings pretty well secured and tensioned. They're not going to flap in the wind, like some.
