This is so sad. Are the days of Honda making reliable products over? I am an avid fan and have owned 1996,2003, 2008 accord. 2009 Acura TSX, and currently own a 2021 Accord Touring... Thank God I have the 2.0t Engine. The 3.5 has the bearing rod issue, and the 1.5t has head gasket and oil dulision issues. Honda also keeps using the damn 1.5t in new platforms. It's like they don't learn?!?!
My son drives my old 2019 Honda Insight EX hybrid and approximately one year ago I got a recall notice for a bad fuel pump and to date my dealership doesn't have the fuel pump and doesn't expect them until January 2025 at the earliest. So if your V6 engine is affected by the current recall it'll take Honda a LONG TIME to get the parts in to fix your car.
Glad I went with the 2.0 even though I have FOMO by not getting the Type S. Currently dealing with a bad dealership experience where they put fix-a-flat in my tire before I bought it causing one tire to be out of balance. I drove like that for 10k miles at major risk of a blowout putting my safety at risk. Now they don't want to admit they did anything wrong and asked me to bring the vehicle in after I replaced all 4 tires elsewhere with just 17k miles. I e-mailed the GM, CEO, left a BBB complaint, Google Review, Yelp, and made a youtube video.
How in the HELL could Honda screw up the crankshafts using CNC machines? Obviously ‘quality control’ has been replaced by ‘quantity control’. The 3.5 was their bullet proof power plant along with the 2.5. Then - Honda throws the VCM on the 3.5’s to garner a couple more miles per gallon to the detriment of engine longevity. And I am STILL waiting for a fuel pump replacement!
I was looking for a slightly used Pilot at Carmax and they had several informing buyers that outstanding recalls were on the vehicle and that no parts were available. Xi's lab leaked virus sure screwed up the world. We just picked up an immaculate 2023 Passport with 8K on it. It's a fantastic SUV. When the 3/36 warranty gets close to expiring I'll have to do some soul searching. our 2005 has 271K on it. Same engine and transmission. Both function like new.
We own a 2018 Acura RDX with the 3.5-liter engine. The only recall as of now is on the fuel pump, which they still have not replaced. No word so far on the engine. Any reason for this?
I have 2 Hondas civic 2018 & 2019 the civic hatchback 1.5 liter sport I just got a fuel pump replaced yesterday as its was recalled and now still waiting for 2019 civic type r also was on a recalled list for a new fuel pump, Honda and Acura are very good cars but lately I heard a lots of recalled on Honda and Acura 😢😢.
My Kia just died for a connecting rod recall. A day later I bought a low mile used MDX bc of their history of being rock solid motors. Talk about horrible luck. Now I cant trust the vehicle I just bought.
Change the engine oil every 5000 miles with Valvoline Pennzoil Mobile Castrol Quaker State "Full Synthetic" and use Premium fuel like recommended for Acura vehicles change the engine air filter every other oil change or 10.000 miles and rest assured your car will serve you well
I think there is a big push by automakers to design cars to NOT last forever. There's more perceived profit in parts and service needed for repairs just beyond warranty. We are now in the era of the disposable vehicle.
My 2016 TLX had engine failure back in 2022 that was 3 months after I bought it...the dealership replaced the engine but Acura sent me a letter to bring it in for recall service
I may have one of the affected vehicles (Honda pilot2019) however I’ve been considering Korean alternatives as Hondas price/value ratio continues to go the wrong way. This might just be the straw that breaks the camels back as one reason I bought this vehicle was for the v6 naturally aspirated engine. Owner from Canada
Combination of millenials working, Americans making the car under a Japanese brand without the same work ethic and respect, and economy/politics pushing for changes in various sectors
My 2005 Pilot was built in Canada. It's been great. My self and two friends all bought 1985 Toyota trucks. All three ate 2.5 qts of oil every 3K oil change. Toyota would fix any of them deeming the consumption "within specs." I haven't bought another since. They had a run of defective rings a Toyota tech told us. It happens but give us a short block or repair the existing issue.
Or a combination of boomers and genx devaluing next generation of work and getting greedy. Japanese brands have great quality control globally. Nonsense on work ethic and respect, just an excuse for people not to adapt or for people who don’t treat others with ethics and respect to scape goat. 100% of human existence has been a mutual relationship.
Just know this about the Honda dealership here in FWB FLORIDA... They stood behind their product and provided a free replacement of defective fuel injectors on my second hand 2018 Ridgeline truck that I purchased early in 2024. All human made products are not perfect just as us humans have the same issues too. Stuff happens right? Not to worry ok, Honda is still a great car/truck maker. We can pray to God if you like or not, and ask for His assistance in these crazy times that have come to this world due to lack of faith in Him. Yes, its time for a revival in America!
Yeah it's not one mortar but they are going to fix them I'm sure the 2025 3.5 V6 not going to have that issue!! It could be worse you could have a Toyota with your transmission falling out turbo engines blowing on Toyotas!! Then you have to bring Transmission in to get it changed a couple of times as well as the motor talk about an inconvenience!!! Honda knows what the problem is so they're fixing it and they'll be much more careful next time with their machinery!! I'm not concerned about it at all Honda still number one always has been always will be!!!
@@truthnow902 Yea, Honda knows what the problem is - HONDA! Honda half @$$ed it and Now has to pay the price. Quantity Control has replaced Quality Control with most, if not all, vehicle manufacturers. I have had a few Hondas (motorcycles, cars and a SUV) in my days. I wish they were trouble free, but they were not. Though the motorcycles ran trouble free. But screwing up the guts (crankshaft) of the engine, is beyond belief! Just hope the 3.5 on my Pilot does not seize up before it is recalled if necessary. Or the fuel pump does not die and leave me stranded. Still waiting for that replacement.
Looks like you don’t own Hondas Honda has been getting away with issues from a long time and it’s doing the same thing with the j35 because it’s cheaper to pay a settlement than fixing 1.4 million engines
Honda should extend the warranty on 3.5L vehicles.
honda is hiring accountants to design engines instead of engineers, it's a trend right now in the auto industry.

The vcm is the government at work. I disabled mine when I had the 3.5.
@ I thought the VCM was the Brain Child of Honda to glean increased mileage tax breaks from the government.

I'll keep my 2004 Accord LX and 2010 Pilot with rebuilt engine and vcm disabled.
And hear i thought all the CVT issues they keep having was their worst problem.
Did they change the machining settings after 2020 or are 2021 and beyond affected?
It will be interesting to see if they expand it. Are you referring to Honda or Acura?
How about those RDX? Like 2015

I bought a 2024 Honda Pilot and hoping in the next few years this does not happen. It takes a few years for this to show up.

the only way to cure is to get a bagel with lox

I wouldn’t. I’m happy with my 2021. Just make sure to check it out really well before and try to get a low mileage one.

@genetikz2010 would have a mechanic check it out. They can do a once over and see if there is anything major.
