    Just discovered your videos and have subscribed. Love hearing the commentary and I really like your secret on photographing the diving ducks! Great idea! I'm not as limber as you, though, so not sure how it'll work for me! :) Keep up the great work!

      Thank you kindly! Haha yeah, as I get a bit older I'm realizing my body is not going to last forever either... 😆 A few times that day I went to get up and was like, "ohh boy that hurts, I might sit here for a minute more..." 😂
      Anyways, I'm so glad you like the content, more to come!

    very nice video - I have always enjoyed searching through the wastewater treatment plant for unique waterfowl and birds. I have also enjoyed your videos from a younger photographer from Michigan and knowing the places you have been to. Keep up the good work.

    I really like your video style with the fpv and the photos blended in! Your technique seems to work quite well, congrats on the grebe :) I might just try it out since I face a lot of the same problems trying to photograph winter ducks in Europe...

    MWW is my go-to place for ducks, especially when the seasons change. So happy you were able to get your lifer eared grebe there! In the spring, there can be dozens in breeding plumage.

    • @birdswithbeau
      @birdswithbeau  Місяць тому

      That's pretty cool! I actually had no idea they were so common there!

    • @Mad_Ancient_Computer_700AD
      @Mad_Ancient_Computer_700AD Місяць тому

      @@birdswithbeau For some reason, MWW has a lot of birds that would be hard or impossible to get in other places in Michigan. A lot of birds that are uncommon everywhere else, like grasshopper sparrows, dickcissels, cliff swallows, and essentially every duck and shorebird species out there are easy to get should you come in the right season.

    I'm a 66 yr old with a cheap camera but the same passion for birding and as many rare one's as possible and I know your frustrations when missing them by minute's. I have taken picture's (not your quality) of aRed-necked Grebe and a European Widgeon. I have visited the waste manager plant and will again soon. I just missed a Wilson's Snipe so I'm a little down about that. Also I saw a Mississippi Kite and took a picture of an Hudsonian Godwit. I missed a few other rarities that day. I missed a Golden Eagke as well. I feel the stress. I wish you the best young man I just subscribed. Where do go for your Winter bird's? I will try the UP soon. I'm looking for the Boreal Owl and Chickadee. Pine Gross beak the Saw-whet and the Red Crossbill. Love your video's and your enthusiasm.

      Thank you very much!
      Yes, I have thought about filming a video in the UP, hitting whitefish point and other places in the area. I think it would be such a fun trip, although I have been pretty busy lately with life. I also try to enjoy all of the parts of birding, even missing rarities and photo opportunities. I am blessed to be able to get out as much as I do, and I am very grateful for that! I am homeschooled, so I have a lot more time on my hands then other people my age.
      I would love to see birds like the Pine Grosbeak, and especially the Boreal Owls!
      Someday I'll have to plan a trip up there.
      Thank you so much for subscribing, I really appreciate it!
      I hope you had a Merry Christmas!
      Beau

    Love your video’s man! I am thinking about buying an occasion Nikon D500 because of my budget. What lens would you recommend for bird photography that is not too pricy? I read some good reviews about the NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E

    • @birdswithbeau
      @birdswithbeau  Місяць тому +1

      Thank you, appreciate it!
      Yeah, really if you're not going to spend over 2 grand on a lens, you pretty much can't beat the 200-500 (if you're shooting Nikon F mount). I'd keep a look out on the used market, the best deals are always there.

      A good place to check is always any ponds or bodies of water in your area.

    Could it work if u take a place near the water and sit there or lay down and wait ? Or do they still see u and don’t come back as long as u sit there ? Not talking about having something to hide under really thinking about just laying on the ground waiting to the ducks to come back

    • @birdswithbeau
      @birdswithbeau  26 днів тому

      Yeah, that might be a good idea, although it's really hard to know how long it would take for the ducks to come back, so might not really be worth it.
      However, if you have a place where you know ducks frequent, it would be a great idea.
