You’re misquoting Stephon Castle. He never said he only wanted to go to a team with a starting PG position available. He said he sacrificed in college and played out of position so now he wants to go to a team that will allow him to play in his natural PG position. That is totally understandable and won’t hurt his stock. The Spurs may take him at 4 or 8 depending on if Risacher is available at 4. Also, he had one of the best scores on the shooting drill so he has potential to become a good shooter.

As a Spurs fan, yes we need shooting but we need playmaking and defense more. Shooting can and will develop, and shooters are a dime a dozen in this era where you can find some for a bargain. Big guards that can and, more importantly, are willing to play good defense is so valuable. This team’s defense was horrendous despite Vic’s presence. We desperately need perimeter defense.
Stephon Castle would be an excellent selection for the Spurs! Absolutely a great take about the need for improved defense.
Castle is a proven winner. The spurs are gonna need it. Edwards, Luka, and Joker arent going to just give the Spurs playoff series. And thats ignoring Lebron and Steph.
For me as a Spurs fan it's a +. by hurting his draft stock you know he's not here for the bag 💵. He's here because he think he can impact winning on a team that need a PG.

I wanted the spurs to pick Riach and Castle, a starting lineup of Castle Vassel Riach Sochan Wemby probably isn't winning anything yet because of problems on offense, but WOW that DEFENSE is crazy, amazing transition buckets
It will cost him a little money upfront but if he makes it at a starting PG he can easily make it up in his next contract
Topics injury will have a larger effect on his draft stock than Castles workout decision imo
The Spurs will take him! I am an actual Spurs fan. He's a tenacious defender who wants to take it to the basket instead of just settling for 3's mostly. He can play the 1, 2 ,and 3. Pop loves those type of players!
Pop also LOVES players who are willing to play the role the team needs them to play. Castle proved as UConn he’s malleable to changing his style to help the team as much as possible to win. He’s the perfect Spurs player.
Exactly Castle is a proven winner and knows what it takes to win. He was the only freshman that was in UConn starting lineup and was a major contributor of them winning the title. . Castle also have the work ethic that very few players actually possess.

Pop loves players like Castle. Derek White 2.0 vibes. Defense first guys are always a priority for him, and contrary to widely disseminated opinion, Spurs offense doesn’t need a playmaker like Topic when everyone brings the ball up and makes plays especially Wemby & Vassell. All they need is simple, solid playmaking from that spot & Castle can do that and bring the defensive tenacity.

He is a top 5 value even with a funny looking shot and even low free throw percentage. Utah would love him at 10 and he would be great as a starting point guard with Keonte George. I think Knecht and Ron Holland are alternatives.

Risacher and castle is hands down the way to go for the spurs. Also don’t forget that the spurs could maybe swap that top 10 protected 2025 bulls pick for the 11th this season and get tidjane if they’re really high on him as well. I’d be so hyped for the spurs if they added castle and Risacher, if they add tidjane too?? I’m all for it

personally for the Spurs, I’d take Dillingham at #4 and trade down to also draft Edey. Dillingham, Vassell, Keldon, Wemby and Edey would be a solid, young lineup
That line up doesn’t work and would result in a lot of losing.
idk I’d like to see it and worst case scenario, Edey could just become a backup big for them and/or get traded. This draft isn’t that stacked so I think that they should just experiment and swing for the fences.

@@Idk_tbh20 None of those guys are “superstars” and none of them won a Championship. In the playoffs their scoring doesn’t make up for their lack of defensive capability.
