- One of Bangkok's oldest markets, Talat Phlu, is a community and marketplace by the canal Khlong Bangkok Yai in Talat Phlu subdistrict, Thon Buri district, Thonburi side of Bangkok. It has been around for over 200 years, filled with the history of food and dessert and Thai tea ( my favourite!). I would love very much for you to visit this true local market full of interesting stories. It makes me feel like visiting Thailand in the old times, where people still played chinese chess on the street, cooking in the old ways, using the train for transportation. These are not easy to see and experience in modern days.🇹🇭

Such memories. I used to live on Soi Thoet Thai 33 for about 2 years. I miss that area so much ! Walking around the market was one of my favorite things to do. The Scallion dumplings (Guichai and Guichai Tod) are the best in Bangkok there. Now in Nonthaburi.. but really miss Thonburi

Talay Phlu certainly has a lot of nooks and corners to explore. Being a very old trading area in the past, many of the people can speak Teochiew too. Not an easy area to explore, best by foot.

What day and time do they set up the street food. I think it's in the evening. What time do they close up at night. Also there's a wat down the street that has a night market do you know the days and hours. I think it's on the weekend however I don't remember.
