He sings french like a god!! As a french I can understand every single word he pronounces, and with no accent!.. This combined with all his exceptional vocal skills..!
Incredible Gedda. I do not like the comparison of artists. But Gedda was simply class on his own. I checked many versions. This one is probably the best. Surprisingly, I like it more than Gigli.
+Thierry Morice: We may disagree about “insincerity” in his performance, but the mismatch between this aria-lullaby and his almost spinto voice is clear to anyone who has heard the tenors you listed, plus one American: Richard Crooks.
Tino Rossi's is my favorite version, obviously he's not an opera singer, but I think he captures the sweetness of the young seminarian praying over the sleeping 'boy' in the wild (actually a girl disguised as a boy, coz, hey, it's an opera)

Maybe that's why he retired to Switzerland
Délicat, élégant, raffiné et sensible . Une voix aux mille irisations et sana affectation. Quel chant magnifique
I have sung this in concert two years ago. It is very very demanding, yet sublimely and utterly beautiful.

Merveilleuse chanson et surtout très bien interprété r
Les Joyaux de la Princesse have brought me here.
How does this not have more views? Definitely one of my favorite renditions of this piece. So glad to be singing this this semester :)
Meraviglioso!!!!Mi piace maestro GEDDA! Grazie.
oh merci !!! ***********
There are many ways to sing any song. This tenor's version is beautiful and completely legitimate. Not affected or insincere at all.
I'm crying... This is too much...
Maestro Gedda's French was flawless. And such a silky voice. Thank you for posting
Yes, yet Bjorling's is matchless, but then he sang Italian and German also clearer than natives.
So delicate and tender. Thank you very much-
What a beautiful rendition of the aria. Thank you for publishing this recording.
semplicemente divino!
Such control!!
Wonderful!!!
Гедда великолепен!
lovely!
Amazing!!
idd magnificent performance!!
Thank You Janja! I'm really happy that You,of all people, liked it.
For my mother. . . .+

Bonsoir Janja ! j'adore cette belle romance découverte dans mon enfance et j'ai 84 ***** !!! ça file les années ! Bonne nuit mon amie ...
This is fine rendition, but prefer Rita Streich's and/ or Bjorlings versions. Also Domingo makes a good job of it.
I does not have sence to compare approach ov various artists. Gedda, Domingo, a nd others cannot be categorized. They are class on their own
affected and insincere - McCormack, Clément, Devriès, D'Arkor, even Tino Rossi, where are you?

How could anyone think this perfirmance was affected and insincere? Gedda was always simple, clear and respectful of the music.
