Can you find all seven easter eggs I've hidden in this video? They appear briefly and are quite hard to find!
(also, I've now noticed some minor video editing errors in this updated version, but they shouldn't be too big of a deal)

Thanks for the updated soundtrack of all of the games, including MOTSK! I really appreciate you taking the time to update it with the music from the new game (and various other new tracks). This is perfect for me to listen to when I'm at work. Really helps the time pass by faster. Keep up the great work!

You're welcome, and thank you for the kind words! I have also listened to my entire previous ND soundtrack video multiple times whenever I'm studying, seeing what game I'm currently listening to is a nice benchmark for how long I've been doing my work.

How did you get some of the scenes without the characters in them? Like the bank from CLK?

    • @RoamerTummy

I mainly used the games' debug menu to toggle the characters as "unavailable" under "Events", which makes them disappear. I made a video a while back showing how to use the debug menu: ua-cam.com/video/tur7twc2hes/v-deo.html
CLK's bank is literally the only exception because the debug menu doesn't make Jim Archer go away, so I think I just went into the game files and used Bink Video Player to take the specific scene of the bank but with Jim absent (the specific file was BAN_NODE.bik).

does anyone know whyyyy did they deleted the signature piece?? i feel like most people were playing the games because of nostalgia and once the soundtrack disappeared by midnight at salem i just felt like... buying the new game is not worth it( also, Midnight in Salem had noooo funny things whatsoever. Maybe tiny bit of crossover with other games which i did not recognise (except of the chocolate), but usually i see most of the crossovers immediately because i look for them. I also did not see any extra fun things which was the charm of nancy drew. There were always a lot of fun talks and extras which were not important but just so cozy. Also i was hoping to call Hotchkiss once again(( is it just me?

Midnight in Salem and Mystery of the Seven Keys are basically made by completely different people despite the same HeR Interactive company since the layoffs in 2015. Their standards and values inherently differ from people who've been working on the Nancy Drew games for a long time. This includes just not incorporating the original signature piece into the newer games (if I had to guess, they just want to distinguish from the original era of Nancy Drew games).
I do agree Midnight in Salem lacks the same level of charm (especially the unimportant but cozy extras you mentioned) as the original Nancy Drew games, but I still think there's some genuinely funny bits in it (I have in mind some of the Hardys' and Deirdre's dialogue). I also still think there's a couple of pretty recognizable references to past games in Midnight in Salem (Charlotte on a pumpkin, past locations on postcards in the cafe, Mei being accepted to Waverly, etc.).
You have a point that a lot of people buy the Nancy Drew games out of nostalgia (for me, watching Arglefumph's videos as a kid did contribute to me buying all the Nancy Drew games on Steam). However, I think it's also because of the fact these games are often solid and enjoyable (more so for people down for puzzle adventure games), not just out of nostalgia.
I'm not sure if you've played Mystery of the Seven Keys yet. It doesn't reach the same level of quality and polish as the original Nancy Drew games at least for me, but it is a significant step-up from Midnight in Salem and it's clear the developers listened to a lot of player feedback (I saw some of them were actual Nancy Drew players, which was reassuring). The game still runs dreadfully on low-end computers unlike the original Nancy Drew games, but I say it's worth picking the game up from a Steam sale (I still think $32 is too much for this game, even as a fan).
It's also probably just you who wants to call Hotchkiss again, I don't need to hear her again lol

@@TheNancyDrewGuy Ah, good catch. I think I intentionally skipped that one for the first version for whatever reason but I forgot this track (there's also the a capella version of A Word I Couldn't Keep which I didn't include) when looking for tracks to add to this version. I'll include it for next time when Game #35 comes out, whenever may that be.

@@RoamerTummy I haven’t been though all of the sea of darkness files. I did see the file in the phantom of Venice “ time to dance” do me for a loop the first time I heard it
