Dear Mike, Thank you for all your work by keeping Buffalo Air alive in our minds. Ice Pilots was a great series. Your love of the C-47, DC3 is also great. I wrote the following, many years ago, when I was stationed at McClellan AFB back in the 1980''s. Use it any way you can.
Best wishes,
Mike Bennett
Ode to the Gooney
There is a sound, almost a melody, that goes beyond today.
The sounds are of an ancient voice, "Look up, look up," they say.
"Hey, remember me? I'm the Gooney Bird, the old square wheeling sky train."
"I'm passing by, not yet a ghost. I'm still a vibrant airplane."
Caught now within its throaty voice there rings this ancient song,
Of pride and yet humility, where faithfulness belongs.
"My father's name was Douglas, and my mother's name was too.
My lovers have been many. My friends included you
I stroked the course of history and firmly set my place.
I always was a friendly bird but never quite an ace.
Some day my voice you'll hear no more, and you'll forget my thrill.
No one could ever sing like me. Nor ever any will."
"So, when you hear me passing by, and you look up to see,
Remember, you are seeing more than I could ever be."
Heroes past and present are talked of in this ode.
And just like the Old Gooney Bird we all have borne our load.
So, be not faithless, my good friend in all that you may do.
For though your labor seems so small, our God is seeing you.

Bring back ice pilots! Luv’d that show!
Yes please make a new season...maybe update what and where the old crew at
Mikey is possessed of what I believe is called an irrepressible smile. Can't help but be cheered up watching him do anything around Buffalo.
Thanks for clarifying, I've had these two mid-century radial engines sitting in my front yard and couldn't tell them apart until now
Mikey, you are such a talented film maker and storyteller. Great work your doing with these great old birds!
"The TV show was pretty much based of us".
Shows a dapper looking gent threatening to shoot someone.
There is always something to see in buffalo airways 🙏🏼🤟🏼 amazing content like always 👌🏼
Cats, cars and planes. Thanks for the tour and updates.👍🛩🛩🛩👍
I love the smell of old hangers like this, to me personally it unique
That fox moth looks awesome, what a superb restoration! Looking forward to seeing more of the Fokker. Keep up the amazing work Mikey!
Hi Mikey,
I have been a big fan of you folks for many years and I have only just discovered your You Tube project. Absolutely excellent !! You are really a natural in front of the camera and do a great job. I flew for many years as a corporate pilot for a medical corporation although have now put it to rest after nearly 15,000 + hours - piston and turbine time. I will never get enough of aviation in all its' forms and you just add to the pleasure.
Keep the videos coming.
All the best to you and yours and stay safe during these "interesting" times. And always hold onto your passion for all things that take to the skies,
Terry (from the middle of Minnesota).
That was a nice mix of topics. It was nice to see Stella again, she was so integral to the success of DTD.
wow, the Fox Moth. I remember when it came in. wonderful.
Thanks for the tour, neat to see what's tucked away in the back rooms.
Nice to see those flat head Ford engines!
Good evening Mikey, well that was a a surprise, I wasn't expecting to see you tonight! Great to hear that things are progressing on the Moth and Fokker despite COVID 19. Looking forward to more from you when you get the opportunity. Take care mate..

The smile on your face says it all. Do what you love and love what you do. Thanks for sharing this with us.
I think this is my second favourite video you've ever done. Bunny hop and the one after it have to be #1.

Yay, an engine for the Fokker! So the project is still alive. Looking forward to any news. All the best for the project...
Mind blowing progress on the plane, and it's red now. :) Just like your dad likes it. Awesome.
Your production quality gets better and better. A little bummed we haven't been getting Fox moth or DR-1 updates, it looks great so far!
Had the luxury of watching the DC-3 take off when I was working on a job at the airport. Gotta say, was super cool seeing it in action!
Used to live under the flight path of the YHY-YZF runs. Of course on approach, can see the rivets of the undercarriage as well.
Try beating that as a wake up call in the morning.
Hi Mickey, you guys in Bufallo airways, you're really doing good things for the community there and would like to thank you. I followed your adventures for years by the way. Keep going Buffalo Airways.
Another gem of a episode Mikey, crammed full with totally interesting stuff. Watched it twice already and about to do it again..

Classic airplanes w/ radial engines and classic cars w/ flat-head engines...It doesn't get any better than that! Thanks for the tour of the hidden treasures. As I said before; You guys rock!!!!
This is the episode I’ve been waiting for! I could spend an entire week in that hangar.
Mikey, it's always a pleasure to pop onto UA-cam and see a video you and your dad made, I also love the fact he's one who loves and appreciates all things mechanical, glad he's been restoring those old Merc's
That last shot of the guy jacking at the DC3 undercarriage is KILLER! As are all those low angles in the rain. Lovin' it, Mikey. :)
I've wondered where you been. Thanks for the tour! The Norseman looking really good. Now we won't be able to tell it from the DR1
I have always loved the videos you make, thanks Mike.
As always awesome! What a superb place, fantastic kit, all those King Airs, let alone the DC3 etc - heaven! Great video Mikey, thanks. Keep up the good work and stay safe.
Thanks Mikey we really needed this !!!
Buffalo is why when I visit the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, I geek out on their DC-3 and Dakota parked tail to tail. I mean, the Lancaster is cool and all. But the fact that the DC-3 airframe is still in service is amazing. Keep up the good work!
Great to see you and Stella again. Give my regards to your father and of course Chuskie . The Boeing Guy.
not to mention ...the cat ..lol
Great job on this episode.
Hi Mikie once again. I watched all of your shows several times. Today I am surprised to see a DC4, they must be very rare. In 1957 at the age of nine I went with my father and brother in a DC4 from Montreal via Bermuda to Barbados. We flew on Trans Canada Airlines and it took 11 hours to complete the distance. The plane was powered by four 12 cylinder Merlin engines and I can still remember the jaw dropping sound of the engines, particularly at take off. Yes. they were loud and I loved every minute of it. Barbados in 57 was very different from now but it as stunning place compared to Montreal. Needless to say, it was month that I will never remember. Thanks again.
Thanks for a great video, Mikey. Sure missed hearing from you!! Greetings from Minnesota!
Nice to see you again Mike. Love what you guys are doing.

Great plane to learn on... as my instructor at the time said, “If you can land a tail dragger, you can land anything”

Thanks for the tour! I live about 100 miles south of Oshkosh, and the sky sure is quiet!
Great video Mikey! Thanks for it! Had the pleasure of spending some time as a young man at Points North Saskatchewan and got to fly with the Eikel boys in CQT and NTF. Actually got some time at the controls too. I miss the DC3's thanks for keeping them alive for my kids to see (hopefully) one day.
Get em flying...loved the tour.
Love you guys and your toys I watched ice pilots loved as I love the vintage kites watching from Cornwall UK.
Great Vid! love the back and forths!
My late father flew PBY's out of Brazil for the U.S. Navy in WW2. If memory serves, the engines in the PBY were the same as the DC-3's. I DO remember telling him that PBY's were being used as tanker aircraft "up north." He was surprised as he didn't consider the Catalina to be large enough to be useful in that role.
Mickey, Good to hear from you again, as we had met and had a mid day meal at Oshkosh 2010...
Good to see some progress on the Moth look forward to an update on it and the DR1.
Thank you, Mikey!
