    I totally agree with you about why Yuta doesn't seem to stand out as much as he should (based on his technique and ability) while performing on stage, and also the part about Taeyong, too.
    The thing is Taeyoung and Yuta give off 2 differents auras, though they both look intimidating when they're in the zone. Taeyoung's aura while dancing is more intrusive (for the lack of better words), more in-your-face, from his facial expression to the extent of his movements. His style is more explosive while Yuta's implosive. Yuta's aura is more laid back, as the analysis said he's more compressed. His moves appear to be light, effortless, and Yuta sometimes has a tendency to underdance a bit, which explains why he doesn't attract as much attention as Taeyong MOST OF THE TIME. Not everyone can see the energy and the techniques Yuta puts into his moves without a close look, as they are not as "loud" and outward as some other members. And it's true that Yuta's energy is consistent no matter where he is in the formation, which sometimes is a disadvantage for him.
    I'm not NCT's fan, I only watch some of their stages out of curiousity. At first i was also impressed by Taeyoung the most, too. It's natural for people to notice things that are the most prominent (especially when Taeyong is one hell of a performer). But after 1 or 2 performances, I noticed Yuta and honestly I couldn't take my eyes off him ever since. I was amazed by how much energy he possesses while appearing so effortless and chill. His movements are so precise and calculated but still manage to look freeing (most of his footwork) and soft and elegant (his arms and hands). Now my eyes only follow Yuta in any NCT's dance :))

      I think the others are more easy to notice because when they get the chance to be center they switch into a dancing style that's more comfortable or in tune with them, which sets them apart from the other members. Yuta isn't easily noticeable to people unless they're actually trying to look for him. He doesn't actually blend in with the group, more so that he's one with the choreography.

    • @phuongbui2791

      @@steppahj Totally agree. I don't think Yuta blends in the group either. To me, his moves are VERY distinct, just not in a way that is obvious to most people. I love Yuta's style because his interpretation of the choreo is really clever and unexpected. But yea, i do think the main reason he doesn't stand out is that he doesn't have that "switch" you mentioned. Yuta doesn't just interpret his part of the choreo, he interpret ALL of the choreo, which make him look "the same" even during his parts (which are sadly very short :((( )

    • @SeSfaction
      @SeSfaction 4 роки тому +80

      @@phuongbui2791 I always had the feeling that the shortness of his parts is the reason why Yuta dances "the same" through the whole choreo
      . Until recently he had never really a big part as a center where he could show himself and where he could "switch" that button on to explode. He has to do that through the whole song. But it slowly changes and Yuta gets more and bigger center parts. It makes me happy to see that, cause for me his dancing is so so different than anyone else. I love how he gives his all,nevertheless it looks so chill and easy. But then when you try to copy him, you notice how hard it is.

    It took me a while to notice Yuta because most of 127's choreography is practically Yuta's whole dancing style. So while the others are working to convey the intended meaning of the dance, Yuta does it effortlessly because he naturally gives off an athletic and tender vibe. The others are more easy to notice because when they get the chance to be center they switch into a dancing style that's more comfortable or in tune with them, which sets them apart from the other members. Yuta isn't easily noticeable to people unless they're actually trying to look for him. He doesn't actually blend in with the group, more so that he's one with the choreography.
    I didn't start noticing Yuta until is started watching NCT crack videos (I'm ashamed to say I had no idea who he was so I decided to do some research). Now he's one of the first members I look for when I watch their live performances and choreographies. It's so satisfying to watch him dance, I always have to play back his parts.

    i think i came up with an analogy that kinda helps explain where yuta stands in a group compared to dancers like taeyong and haechan. for taeyong and haechan, they stand out because they are a different 'flavour' from what kpop dance is supposed to look like? say kpop was chocolate, they would be vanilla and strawberry, and that's why they're so captivating because people who see them dance gets variety and versatility in an otherwise "identical" performance. yuta on the other hand, rather fits in the 'flavour' that kpop dance is usually associated with; really sharp and tense movements, but he does it very well that he is the epitome of a, say, high quality chocolate. maybe that's an easier way to explain it :)

      My god yes, I was like frustrated on how to describe it or put it into words but you perfectly described it in my opinion. He really does fit the “kpop mold” which isn’t bad, since kpop is really known for the synchronized, sharp and powerful movements but the thing is he goes beyond that but is still in the mould, like you said again a top quality chocolate. Like with taeyong and Haechan they have a different colour, different flavour and it’s not mostly seen in kpop it’s more experimental, the way they execute is how I see them a bit different. But lately these days like in punch, I’m starting to see Yuta explore the different flavours out there. He’s been given some fair amount of center time so it really pushes the button on his dynamic, sharp and versatile dancing. Since a lot of people seem to describe him as a cat, quick on his feet I really wanna see that evolve into something more, let’s just say “explosive” lol like a cherry bomb. Since he really pulls of the tension in the body but executing at times softly I’d describe it as a cherry bomb, filled with a lot of flavour that just bursts out like a cherry but maintaining the sharpness and tension like a bomb. Okay I gotta stop, I’m getting hungry but yes I’m so glad someone explained it.😅

    in terms of choreography, nct are very individualistic. that's why they are not so in sync like seventeen for example. but yuta fits more into well-synchronized and technical choreos. he's a very organized dancer yet he makes every move look easy and effortless.
    i wouldn't agree that he's is unnoticeable though. his curious combination of agility, power and grace had made me notice him right away, way before i knew his name. i also think he doesn't get enough opportunities to shine - no dance solos or even duos. in the "shut up and dance" mv, nct dancers got little solos during the bridge and yuta really impressed me with his waving, even though i hadn't seen him dancing any kind of popping before. it made me think how much we haven't seen from him

    I clicked immediately when I saw YUTA.
    I'm really sorry that not much people notice YUTA for his dancing skill. He doesn't the best but he improved a lot since he never dance before he got audition to SM and he's main dancer now.
    addition1 (coz I know I will put addition2): I recommend you to watch ua-cam.com/video/r_qdGke3MNs/v-deo.html
    and see how light of YUTA's steps.
    addition2: First thing that someone isn't YUTA bias may not notice, he always glances to the back when he moves backward. I think It come from his experience of soccer period as safety first. Second thing, he can dance both smooth and powerful and can change the mood as fast as he wants. Then I suggest you to watch his inner with his face expression.
    As a YUTA bias I am, I always look at him. That's for sure. But I just need you to watch him carefully.
    Lastly, He passed through hard time and still. He didn't come from his hometown to be A JAPANESE MEMBER in the multi-nationality group. He can sing, he can dance, he can do variety. Please give him a chance by watching him carefully for once. Thank you.

      not a big deal, but for the glancing backwards part, if you’re correct and it’s indeed from his soccer training, it probably wasn’t taught for safety reasons ;;;;; i’ve played competitive private-club-level soccer for six years now, and the reason we’re taught to check our shoulder is to make sure nobody is behind us, though not for safety reasons. it’s more to make sure you don’t receive a pass and turn right into an opponent and then lose the ball. we’re also taught to check our shoulder to be aware of where the opponent’s players are that way we’re not taken off guard and can react appropriately when they pressure for the ball. checking your shoulder in soccer is more for cautionary purposes related to winning/keeping the ball rather than safety, in my experience ;;;;;;; of course, i can’t speak for everyone, but safety on the field has never been SUPER important to any coach i’ve met. they care about your safety, yes, but the priority is to get the ball and get it legally, cleverly, and quickly. and then not lose the ball. if an opponent bowls you over from behind, that’s on them and the referee should call a foul because physically attacking from the back is illegal :’) but if you don’t check your shoulder and turn into an opponent, who steals the ball, that’s on you. which is the entire reason why we’re taught to check our shoulder in soccer ;;;;;;

    As someone that played soccer and basketball competitively, I can testify that even after many years (even though I don’t play anymore) my feet have muscles memory to the point that I’ve always developed calluses on the ball of my feet the fastest when I work out or when I commute by walking. There’s times where I’ve caught myself being on the ball of my feet unconsciously trying relax tension that may form on calf muscles. Now going back to your statement on 21:10 , i feel like it all goes back to soccer. Yuta blends in so well because he sees NCT as a team/unit and Taeyong as captain. If you ever get a chance to watch their origin content you can see Rino (their concert director) mention that Yuta can execute when given the play/chance. Thank you for your insight and attention to our Osaka prince ❤️

    I'm a Yuta biased and I agree about the part of "blending that he doesn't stand out" he really do blend well with the group , and it's beautiful because he makes the Choreography more organized and appealing to me, And I really do like the fact that he has the same energy, was it front or back he's standing, I enjoy watching his Fancams a lot, same goes for Haechan thought they're different, I like watching Donghyuck's Fancams because of how much he stands out, every member of nct is a joy to watch alone, Even when I watch Taeil, Who is not as skilled compared to the other members when it comes to dancing, His Fancams are a joy as well, because you can see how hard he works.

    I do agree with the Yuta/Taeyong comparison... you noticed directly Taeyong out of the rest of the group in their choreographies.
    But I actually started biasing Yuta after going to a NCT concert...
    I don't know how to describe it but really... he stood out so much with how he was executing moves. It was mesmerising and breathtaking.
    Even if I was bias less at that time and really tend to watch Mark or Taeyong more when it comes to 127 choreographies (and sometimes Haechan) it was like I was physically incapable to watch anyone other than Yuta. He definitely has his very own style and it's a style I really like.

    I think what you need to realize is that yuta is a team player, he has always been and he still is in the group. he values his group a lot (he said "more than anything, never betray your group members"
    he knows how to adjust to the group, he wants to become one living being with the group when dancing. i think therefore it's important that you also look at his solo dances. He's done quite a few during concerts (beyond live, nct in USA, nct the Origin) he also does a lot of dance breaks during concerts (regular, cherry bomb, also the smtown concert together with Eunhyuk and Mark) I hope you can notice a little bit more what an incredible dancer he is

    I am late again, but I would like to comment on Yuta’s jump. Of course ballet dancers do movements that contribute to the illusion of suspending in the air (and yes, it also has something to do with aerodynamics and air resistance), but I think what causes the most impact is the way they generally don’t jump only vertically, they also move horizontally, creating more spatial area and the sensation of a longer jump. I think that’s the case with Yuta, he moves more forward than Jun and creates the illusion of floating more efficiently, that is also why Jun seems to hit harder the ground, Yuta’s has more of a equal velocity in the vertical and horizontal direction and has more energy to continue the movement while Jun only has the energy to hit the ground.

    THAT'S the one I was waiting for thank you! My trainer was also a really hard core sports girl who transitioned into dance. Whenever you see her wearing really absurdly big high heels you know her Achilles’ tendon must be flaring pretty bad...cuz it actually lifts the strain off that tendon.
    I have something like a "Yuta shadow." He always gives me nostalgia vibes cuz he's everywhere I turn around. Around one of those corners was a (unnecessarily handsome) student from Osaka who would always come sit with me on the bus & show me pictures/talk about his dogs & his mom (Japan students get OVERWHELMINGLY homesick compared to most Chinese students I've met). But I noticed he never spoke about his dad & realised it's probably cuz he hardly knows him. All I knew was that his dad runs a business. And I always thought this was a joke (there's even a name for it apparently)...where people just randomly drop dead from overwork. But a friend (from Okinawa) told me "No...it's not a joke it's actually a really big deal...too common in Japan."
    Point is there's a very complex mind from a very complex culture goin on in that little (Yuta) noggin...most likely what we're seeing in his dance.

    A beautiful piece of art I would recommend watching is from Road To Kingdom - The Boyz performance of quasi uni fantasia. It has such beautiful and fluid choreography and is a truly beautiful performance
    P.S.the whole performance was done live so there wee no retakes as it is a competition show if anyone enjoys this performance of there's I would definitely recommend to watch more performances from kingdom.

    I just have to reiterate: never land on flat feet 😅 I don't dance, but I used to ride horses. You land on flat feet once, and you quickly learn to never do it again. Always on the balls of your feet and bend your knees
    (That time, the shocks going up my legs had me on my back under the horse)

    About nct how can they preform like this (or other sm groups). Exo's Lay answered it in one of his interwievs. SM entertainment has one off the hardest and harsh tranings for dancers.vocalists,rappers ect. He told that they had tranings like combination of vocal lesson and cardiotraning (Lay said that they had to running on stairs and sing at the same time and many similar practices they had all of the sm tranies has to go throu hard tranings and i am pretty sure that nct had the same practeses too). Imagen how harsh trainings doing their dancers if the vocal training this hard. I think that is the reason why sm has the most talented idols like EXO, TVXQ, SUJU, SHINEE, NCT. I am not saying that other groups don't have great vocalists or dancers (well trained idols )and i dont want to start a fanwar, because i know that all of the idol groups had hard trainings the monstax,seventeen,got7,bts and all of the others too,and i like all of these groups as a multifandom fan its just my own opinion. I think like you sm is the standart and they dancers are in a complate defferent level the same goes to Yuta too.(the same goes to vocalists too) They seams like aliens to me (in a good way). Thats why it is sorry that sm dont know how to treat their idols and also they really suck in promoting their groups. Thank you for your reaction. Everyone stay heathy and take care of your self and your loved onece.

    i think you said it right, if you're not yuta biased you'll tend to overlook him because of how well he balances his position and how seamlessly he ties into the group. he never goes loud, he is thr perfect combination of power snd delicate which is a wonderful paradox in itself.
    his soccer training gives him a foundation, a base which he instinctively relies on for he played it for 11+ years, he has control over his body and he knows how to pace himself. he never overexerts. he's balanced, controlled, he has a finesse to his style.
    his technique is very unique because of these factors, and once you know him, you are unable to look at anyone else.
    yuta is a main dancer for a reason, his skills are unmatched, you cannot just learn to dance like him, it's because of his past and his unique athletic background that's made him be the dancer he is. sharp and elegant, hard and smooth, it's beautiful to watch once you start looking at him.
    I hope a lot of other people can see and recognize his talent and skill and appreciate him.
    thank you for reacting to this!!

    All Japanese Nctzens like me is tired of SM not letting Yuta showing off his dance skills as much he could! I hope that if SM won't let him be main dancer of NCT127 anymore, at least have him debut in NCT U already (We're all waiting for this let's be honest) and have him show off his dancing!! I'm not saying SM NEVER let him show off or anything or that Yuta is being completely mistreated since obviously idk what happens behind scene, it's just that he already doesn't get many lines and screentime that giving him more cool dance stuff doesn't seem like a bad idea, seems like an amazing idea actually lol anyways stan Yuta and his dancing skills along with everything else great about him💚💚💚

    Yuta's dancing style is so distinctive but not that striking and I think that's why people take more time to notice him... But once you do it, you can't look other way, his aura is very captivating. As you can see, Yuta is SO important to me, I think if he was put in the center more often he would be more fierce when he's there, but I personally think he has that power when he's center (Cherry Bomb's beginning, Touch, Regular, Punch's dance break...). Obviously, Taeyong's stage persona is another thing.
    Please, you should react to Touch choreography video, he really stood out in that era.
    And thanks for doing this video, I appreciate a lot when people praise Yuta

  • @beccangavin

    I really like Yuta's dancing. He's really graceful and athletic and cool when he dances.
    I think he really fits every song that they do so he doesn't stand out from the piece, he's a part of the piece. Taeyong is noticeable to me because his movements are so distinctive and kind of quirky. Yuta, on the other hand, melds with the performance and the quality of the whole group is better because he's a part of it. Like when Taeyong is center, I see Taeyong. But when Yuta is center I think, "Man, NCT are such powerful performers." I'm not really sure why, but when he is center in front of the group he makes the group look cooler. Not that each one isn't amazing by themselves...man this IS hard to explain.
    TBH, though, in all of their newer stuff I imagine that Yuta has more focus time than he actually does. The first time I watched Kick It, I thought it was full of Yuta. I didn't notice until I watched his fan cam that it wasn't the case.

    I believe as well that he blends (too) much with the rest of the members, but also it's very obvious that he doesn't have many parts in which he can be the center. Maybe if he had more screen-time like Taeyong, more people would notice how accurate fast and strongly he moves... Btw the first time I watched that video, I was so shocked to realize why I always though his moves felt so effortless all the time!

    I knew nothing about nct 127 until I recently accidentally clicked on a Yuta focus ("Regular" dance practice) when I was looking for a Balkan folk dance called "Yuta". I was so amazed I couldn't believe what I was seeing with his dancing ( I'm a former ballet dancer), but along with that, he used that opportunity to give his charisma to the camera 100% (even when he was off to the side waiting for his next parts or in the very back) to pull you into him, as if he was dancing just for you. It worked. He has a star quality that shines so bright, it's like a drug. He also works to make a mood for each dance and those moods are often very different from each other. For him, that's part of the performance. I got the impression what so captivated him about TVXQ was their artistry, and clearly, he's been working to bring that into his own dancing. SM gave him a chance to shine at the beginning of Cherry Bomb and it must have literally exploded. No one who was watching that MV could not know who Yuta was after that and I think one of the problems SM has with Yuta, is that if you give him a lot more than they do now, he's going to steal the show. ( just my humble opinion.) I don't think a Japanese person is going to be allowed to outshine others too much in a Korean Kpop group. For me, my eyes are always on Yuta first, but I appreciate each of the other dancers as well - soooo talented - even Taeil, who can express so much with just the smallest move.

    • @hakyungsung4636
      @hakyungsung4636 3 роки тому

      You're absolutely right, I thought I was the only one thinking like that. Yuta has an extremely strong charisma and aura. So that even with a line it is always trendy and that we remember its line. So if sm gave him more he would shine more than the Koreans and that sm didn't agree. The same story with winwin.

  • @karenholl2489

    I mentioned this in the ballet video itself but i wanted to mention it here as well. One of the things I think is beautiful is how his duality of movement reflects his personality. He has this strength and power that can be explosive but is also gentle, graceful and sensitive. Anyone who knows Yuta knows that he has a really sensitive and caring heart, but he also has this passionate energy such as when he's really competitive. I love how we can see this in his dance as well. Also it's interesting to see the perspective of someone who doesn't bias Yuta because my eyes are always drawn immediately to him on stage, but I also feel like it has to do with his stage presence and facial expressions.

  • @nimmikhan7725
    @nimmikhan7725 4 роки тому +11

    I used to think yuta was the main dancer when I first got into nct (looking at you cherry bomb) and I'm so glad he's getting the recognition he deserves. Hes an incredible dancer, but i think the lack of overall exposure for him in their choreos also sometimes limits his growth. Someone mentioned in the comments (as a reply I think?) About comparing them to chocolate and I might agree. imo the more you get exposed to the spotlight and directly in the audience's focus of attention (aka centre) you learn to play with both your expressions and style, how different things being out different reactions, and experiment with both your own dancing and facials to make you stand out. Recent punch promotions and to some extent kick it have shown us a glimpse of what he can do when it comes to playing with the viewers hearts, and safe to say not many have survived after the era lol. Yuta is definetly underappreciated, and I truly hope over time he gets more parts and is able to work and showcase himself better!

    • @pinkhaneul10
      @pinkhaneul10 4 роки тому +3

      That's why I think in Korea field overall inside a group being center in really important, you can be great dancer but when you are always in the back or at side people sees you but don't pay enough attention to you, and sm is lacking on giving him center parts, he barely appears when they do rotational dance groups(NCT U) so it's hard, but I'm sure with time people will notice and demand more center parts for him.

  • @ssS-il5oh
    @ssS-il5oh 4 роки тому +9

    I think Yuta's body coordination and movement fluency are the first in the team. I also think this may be one of the reasons why he is the main dancer of nct127. (when nct127 was publicized in the United States, his position was the main dance. Although there were few center positions in his dance in recent comebacks, it can be seen from the previous return stage that his position was the main dancer in the team.) I think the Japanese members who make their debut in large Korean companies have their own characteristics. When I look at Yuta's fancam, I can sometimes think of Japanese members of twice. SM company is really stupid. Yuta is so capable, but his parts are less and less.
