I yellow 💛 this video! I need to watch it on loop whilst i re~organize my DMC collection! Yes, ive seen the Son of A Stitch video you referred to, yet i certainly like your more peaceful version. Thank you.
I love the way the Bobbin boxes look when organised by number. I have had them like that for long, but switched to the numerical order. I found it easier to pick out and put back the flosses. I can’t remember who it was, this Flosstube cut the columns of the color chart in long strips and put them on a floss ring. This way she was able to compare the flosses from different columns.
Hope you enjoy your new system and are enjoying your time away. Thank you for sharing your process. Will be looking forward to seeing if you maintain this system or if you find it harder when looking for a color number. Too bad we aren't rich so we could afford 2 complete sets, 1 to keep for your designing process by color and the other to keep in number order. Happy stitching.
Ah yes! I have seen one designer that has two sets for this exact reason. Would be awesome, but I don’t have the space or money. Plus it feels a tad wasteful to have more than one of every color to me!
Neat video :0 If you're unsure about labeling the bobbins with column number and position I've also seen people tape a piece of paper inside their box with a table with each cell representing each space of the box, with the color numbers listed in each cell.
I don't use bobbins anymore, I use thread drops but I had them organized by color. I found that was a huge pain because most patterns give the number, especially if they're conversions to DMC, rather than the color. It was a shame though because I loved how the colors looked together.
Yup, exactly my qualm! It’s so much more aesthetically pleasing by color but it really might be too much of a pain in the long run. I figured I would never know unless I tested it out!
I buy mine from Michaels as well. Mine are a combination of the plastic ones that come in the bobbin storage boxes they sell and the plastic DMC brand ones that are sold in packs of 25 at Michaels. They aren’t perfect but they hold alright, and I find if I wrap the end through the slit a couple of times that helps too!

So glad you enjoyed! I loved watching it back after ❤️

That’s a pretty cool idea! I’m not ready to disassemble my color card yet, but I see the appeal!!

That was neat to see!
Glad you enjoyed! It was fun to edit the footage!!
Wow! Nice organizing
Thanks! It took ~2hrs to do, but totally worth it!

That’s a great idea! I’ll definitely keep that in mind as I decide what I want my final organization method to be!

Which bobbins do you use? My threads start unraveling from the bobbins and my boxes look so messy because of this! Any tips to prevent this.
I found that bobbins from Amazon do that but those included in Michaels floss storage box don’t. The slit in the bobbin is smaller.
