Such a "Sentimental" Eddie Coffey Tune... I'm teary eyed already!!! Your Video including the unknown Photographers Beautiful Pictures really did the Song Justice!!! Great Job!!! Peeb& Mac
The pics push we onward to complete the reno of the Mayo Family Home 'out there on the Point'. Thanks to whomever took the pics and tks to the Elroy for giving on his time to put this together . . . . our Roots !
Definitely on my list of places to see when I visit. Walk on the mantel at Tablelands, Watch the dawn at Cape Spear. Visit Burin. Also the ceremony - Drink a shot of Screech, kiss a Newfi girl, have some cod. Or something like that.
I have photos taken by Ernie Brake hanging on my walls and one of Burin looks very much like some of the shots on You Tube. In the interest of honest disclosure, Ernie is my first cousin and we are frequent visitors to relatives on the Burin Peninsula. Of course, anyone could have taken these photos. Let's hope that this creates a situation where the actual photographer identifies his work. I love watching the slide show and the memories it provokes.
The name Burin is from French for a seaman's tool that was used on board old vessels to create and maintain the ropes and mooring lines. These pictures are not new as there are some buildings shown which no longer exist. May be the photos of Ernest Brake, the son of a Marystown native who immigrated to the US.
there any Italian family in this town?, because my name is Raphael Henri Burin. I'm Brazilian but part of my family is Italian. Curiosity sorry to my bad English
looks nice but it's not. life is hard. have to go away to work. lots of sick people. not all neighbors are nice like when one guy in the cove stole my cousins nets. many see people as outsiders. a lot of poverty. scenery is great though when the weather is nice. i love newfie though my parents are dead so not much for me now. sorry enjoy your days while you can.
Beautiful song & photos. Hope to visit Burin one day soon - the home of my grandmother - a Hollett.
I been away from Burin for only 6 months and already I forget what home means to me. When I watched this video, I easily remembered.
Beautiful photos & nice song. I am from N.B. but I love NFLD. I have only visited once but look forward to visiting again.
