This is my first time to your channel, your work is impeccable!!! I will definitely be back, you've also peaked my interest in seeing the video of the piece at the end. A great big thank you for the referral to Birch Living. I've wanted a new mattress for a long time, but couldn't find anything that match the quality of what I had. I am grateful because I need the support of a good mattress. Also,❤the added information at the end!!!
Hi Barry! That buffet looked quite sad with all that ugly yellow paint. It looked like at least part of it was spray paint. The finished product was gorgeous!! You have great talents not only with furniture restoration but also storytelling! I always enjoy your videos! Can't wait for the next one!!!
Barry, you are becoming a sophisticated furniture historian/refinisher/restorer from week to week. You are a teacher as well. That buffet is beautiful in the color Candlelight. It's a lovely design.
Thank you for the education with wood grains. My father had great knowledge of woods and the love of showing off the beauty in each piece. So glad to see you appreciate that as well.
Hello from rural Norfolk UK. Discovered your channel yesterday and have watched quite a few videos, your style is so relaxing and informative. You have inspired me to 'restore' my two 50s kitchen chairs properly. I purchased a carbide scraper this morning and have spent nearly 3 hours removing old varnish. Thank you for sharing your work.
Lucky you to find it at all. There are so many others doing this now. But you’ve hit the best one! Barry has lots of great, soothing videos. I’m from Melbourne, Australia. He has followers from all over the world. I can’t “do” but I love to watch restorations. Welcome to the club❤️🦘
You took it back to its original beauty, great work! I loved the info about the trees. Where I live, I can’t just go out into the woods to find oak trees. There are no deciduous forests here, only coniferous. I think oak trees are amazing!
Where I live in Canada you see big old Oak trees in the middle of a field, farmers work around them, as they respect just how long it takes them to grow.
The dark stain may not have been your first choice, but I think it suits this piece perfectly. As ways, thank you for adding to our "tree of knowledge".
I can understand why this type of refinished piece would sell well. Not only is it beautiful, it is great storage for any room. I never find your little brass figures in your videos because I get too distracted watching you work and forget to look for them, lol.
Your work is amazing. With proper care a well crafted piece of furniture can live for generations. The top of the buffet is absolutely gorgeous, the pattern is beautiful. Keep bringing these “abused” pieces back to life.
Oh Barry, thank you for giving the little brass goat such a good home. I knew he would love Wisconsin. He’s having so much more fun in your home than he was with me.
Wonderful video ❤ and the restoration is beautiful. Another special one. Why its Forest... Forest Gump. Great movie 😊 I love learning from you and the wood to me looks like Walnut possibly?
Oh wow....! I have that exact same (in mahogany) buffet in my house, complete with the same hardware. It was my maternal grandmother's buffet she had in her dining room (the very house I bought and live in) along with a matching six-foot, drop-leaf table and six matching chairs. Unlike this buffet, mine has never been painted and is in pristine condition!
Your music, your voice & your whole approach to a piece of furniture brings PEACE … thank you! (Of course I didn’t get those hidden things! In a good way tho I was daydreaming!)
I love this piece and of course you refinished it to perfection. I have a vintage Duncan Fife dining room table and a Duncan Fife sofa that I inherited from my grandmother. This buffet looks like the same era…so maybe it’s a Duncan Fife style? In any case you definitely gave it back it’s dignity. Before it looked like it had been hit by a school bus.
Beautiful result, as always. Thank you for the additional info on identifying trees and how the various cutting methods result in different grain patterns. So much to learn!
Forrest Gump Also, as a longtime subscriber, I don't want to become accustomed to your fabulous work. This was again a labor of love, and evidence of your eye for what's possible. Kudos.
Barry, that is absolutely beautiful. I have a terrible time being disciplined while watching your videos. I love the process, but like reading a good book, I have to force myself not to skip to the end! Your are always the first video I watch when you post. Long time viewer from Littleton, CO.
Hello you dear, dear man. My heart sings when I see such a beautiful restoration. In my mind, the piece looks proud again and so happy to have met you. (I guess I watched it twice, doh.)
G’day Barry and greetings from Down Under. I love watching you bring these painted items back to their original condition and this one was no exception. It was a beautiful design with just enough character and the original brass handles finished it off perfectly. Until next time, take care. 😘💕🇦🇺
Waving hi from far north side Milwaukee County. 👋🏻👋🏻 Grew up in the 1950s-1960s with a carpenter/wood working dad who had a rather large workshop in our basement. Thanks for bringing back memories. That turned out really nice.🤗👍
Yay! Barry removes yet more yellow paint from our ecosphere! Thanks, Barry. You might find it interesting that, around 15:15, that inverted ''v'' shape at the base of the tree could well have been caused by a lightning strike many years ago. The movie was too easy, I got the wood right, and only saw the goat once. I love your little games.
I love watching you breathe new life into pieces! Stunning ❤ Also listening to you narrate your process is like a form of “grounding” for me - so peaceful calming and down to earth 😊
I was glad to see that the hardware came out so good. Sometimes the plating is so far gone that polishing will make the hardware look worse. Good job. I hate when old furniture is painted because it is easier than refinishing.
Oh, SO much nicer stained than painted!! I always love seeing the beautiful end product that you manage to make from the ugliest pieces. Now another generation can enjoy this lovely piece of furniture.
I am new to the channel and I really appreciate what you do. I love watching you. Bring the furniture back to what it was or better. It’s very soothing to watch this.
wow, finding out that information about the Tiger Patters and that white oak is real cool. This old dog got taught something new. great work as always.
The yellow antiqued paint was nice but now with the buffet in this rich color it really looks like an expensive piece of furniture ❤. Lots of work but wow what a beautiful result. ♥️🇨🇦
I watch both furniture restorations and furniture make-overs, and it's always funny to me to see made-over, painted pieces end up in the hands of restorers. You can usually tell which pieces have been painted by a pro vs. a bored houseparent/housespouse with a free weekend. Making it over (nicely) can be really time consuming, so every time I see what I think is a recently made-over piece, I imagine it's only been in one person's possession for a couple of years, so all the effort that went into a well-made-over piece is then undone (almost always rightly so) and the piece is restored to its natural state (or restored up, meaning looking better than it originally did). It's just another funny way to see part of the circle of life, and the cycle of life... The things we do with our life's time and how others experience that outcome, and then how they in turn have someone else's circle interact with theirs. As well as the physical things we cycle through in our lifetimes.
The hardware looks like the same as on my federalist desk/card table. I refinished it after my dad died and it was cherry or mahogany. Thank you for this gorgeous grain reveal!
Can’t wait for the Barbie dresser. I just subscribed so I won’t miss it. I love listening to your soothing voice. Thank you for sharing all the wonderful information you uncover during the restoration process.
New subscriber 🤗Love you take time & don't rush through these projects. Beautiful work😊 Watching you work & giving us lessons on the type of trees is Very Interesting! Thank you😃
Lord have mercy! You are just like my husband. He always has a video playing when he works in the garage. He has 3 TV's set up so he can watch from anywhere in the room! Then I saw your roll top desk! I bought him one for his birthday. The top veneer was coming off so I got it on sale and paid $1100 to get it fixed. It was dated around 1910.

Very cool, Barry! Can't wait for the Barbie dresser. 😅
You never disappoint, Barry. Beautiful job! You should be a teacher. You are so patient, and thorough. Cheers!
I believe he is a teacher here on his channel. 😉
Hi Barry! That buffet looked quite sad with all that ugly yellow paint. It looked like at least part of it was spray paint. The finished product was gorgeous!! You have great talents not only with furniture restoration but also storytelling! I always enjoy your videos! Can't wait for the next one!!!
Aww that yellow was hideous, that piece was begging to have its dignity restored.
Barry, you are becoming a sophisticated furniture historian/refinisher/restorer from week to week. You are a teacher as well. That buffet is beautiful in the color Candlelight. It's a lovely design.
Barry, you are the Bob Ross of the Millennium. Your video presentation and voice are so soothing.😊
I second that❤ !!! I was thinking the same thing 😊 he has that soothing tone of voice and artistic flair.
Thank you for the education with wood grains. My father had great knowledge of woods and the love of showing off the beauty in each piece. So glad to see you appreciate that as well.

@@shamrock4500 That’s wonderful!
Your videos are great. Im going to quit now, guess Forrest Gump for the movie, and just sit back and enjoy your work. Thanks Barry. 😉
Thank you for sharing your wisdom about
restoration. Calming and clear voice!
The dark stain may not have been your first choice, but I think it suits this piece perfectly. As ways, thank you for adding to our "tree of knowledge".
I really liked the shape of this sideboard. Thank goodness you removed the school bus yellow.
I can understand why this type of refinished piece would sell well. Not only is it beautiful, it is great storage for any room. I never find your little brass figures in your videos because I get too distracted watching you work and forget to look for them, lol.

Walnut and Forest Gump. The brass goat stumped me...😂
8:06 found the little brass guy 🙃🌻
Oh Barry, thank you for giving the little brass goat such a good home. I knew he would love Wisconsin. He’s having so much more fun in your home than he was with me.
It's splendor has been returned!
Wonderful video ❤ and the restoration is beautiful. Another special one.
Why its Forest... Forest Gump. Great movie 😊

This is the first of your videos I've seen. I'm most impressed. You did a beautiful job.

What dignity you have restored. I swear, that piece was smiling in the final take.
Thank you so much

Your work is amazing - the deep color you put on this buffet is rich and warm. Bravo!
Your music, your voice & your whole approach to a piece of furniture brings PEACE … thank you!

That's going to be fun, a Barbie dresser, can't wait.😊
Top work!!!
Well done!!! 👍
Greetings from good old Germany 🇩🇪👋
Thank you for the support from Germany
Run! forest! run! 🏃♂️ luv that movie
Another great job Barry. I enjoyed seeing the "donor" trees and how boards are cut to show the grain. Keep strong.
Glad you enjoyed it
Forest Gump? That is a beautiful piece.. ❤❤❤
Sorry I missed the live. Yellow! How fabulous 💛💛💛💛💛💛

😆🚌 💯%
My guess was Duncan Fife also. That sideboard, buffet, etc, is a Classic Beauty.
Candlelight is always a great choice for walnut! The result is beautiful! ❤❤❤
Oh... Forest Gump... I forgot to look for the little brass guy... but I was mesmerized watching the transformation... what a lovely piece in the end!
As always it's fantastic. Saving these pieces is truly a work of love. Thank you Barry for pouring yourself into these projects.
Beautiful result, as always. Thank you for the additional info on identifying trees and how the various cutting methods result in different grain patterns. So much to learn!
This turned out so beautiful. It sparkles, you could see all that beautiful wood grain😊😊😊

I struggle with the same temptation. Maybe it’s a Colorado thing - I’m in Thornton. 🙂
My guess was correct, My favorite is Walnut, so rich and warm in color and beautiful grain. This piece is gorgeous! You did a awesome job.
You have truly revealed the original character of the sideboard. It is a gem.
Cherry wood and Forrest Gump my fav. movie of all time.
nice yellow but nicer grain revealed , thank you Barry,,,
What a transformation. That buffet went from the yellow submarine to a beautiful buffet that would look great in any home.
Walnut. Forrest Gump. I didn't find the goat 😢 Absolutely beautiful! ❤
This looks better than new!
Refinishing furniture is like a box of chocolates 😊
❤😊 more Tree talk!
Loved this Barry, thanks x 🏴
So,so much better than that yellow paint.. beautiful ❤
Forrest Gump, who could forget the “Run, Forrest!” Scene😊
Hello you dear, dear man. My heart sings when I see such a beautiful restoration. In my mind, the piece looks proud again and so happy to have met you. (I guess I watched it twice, doh.)
Thank you for this
I was having a terrible day and this really helped me feel grounded, peaceful and calm. I absolutely love your videos. ❤
Wow! So that’s why people refinish furniture! Such a gorgeous piece. You are indeed talented and patient. 😊

Haha. Thank you

What a beautiful piece.... after your working on it. Also appreciate the 1980s stereo equipment, electric typewriter and television!

Now that's my style mid century tradition al
Holy jumping’ !! That is an absolutely gorgeous piece now!! Always enjoy your transformations and the peaceful narrative
