OK ... I give up - you win ! - Hands Down. You truly are the King, Lad - Especially when you showed your "Lowest Keys" Prowess - That did it for me - I've never seen anyone play way down there as much or so well. Sure proud of you for sure. Thanks for the Inspiration - You truly are going places in this Zydeco World !
Hi Kaleb, thanks for posting... is really amazing what you do! I just got an A accordion, I'm trying to learn some of your licks, ( have a ways to go....) I'd like to ask you if you could break down the list of songs with the times of each one? Thanks again :)
Oh man.. lol. Good luck with my licks LOL! If you check the description of the video, I listed the songs I did, in order. Times.... I’d have to watch it again for that.
I am not that versed on this but the most confusing here seems to determine the key of the instrument. Is he playing “cross harp” which sounds in the key of D !!!
Love this video! Super inspiring for me out here in california, ive been chipping away at learning all this tunes. What time marker to you switch to andre thierrys "came to get a dance " / got any other video of you breaking that riff down ?
Hey Kaleb! been checking out all of your videos man. I just got tuned into your stuff a few days ago. I've been thinking about getting myself an accordion. I like the way that A accordion sounds that you're playing on your Zydeco takeover Challenge video. Is that what you can consider wet tune or is it dry tune? Keep the videos coming man I love em.👍👍
One of the songs was in D, the rest were E, with the exception of one that was in C#m. For Cajun and zydeco music, the accordions are typically played in the 5th scale degree. Meaning if the accordion is a C, we normally play in G because the C scale is CDEFGABC. Additionally, when we’re playing a song in a minor, we take the relative minor of that main key (G) so now we’re in Em on a C accordion. C accordions can play in C major, G major, and F major but they’re limited in G and F because we only have the notes of the C major scale. With G, we have F instead of F#. And with F, we have B instead of Bb. With the minors, because we’re playing in C, F, and G major, we can play in A, D, and E minor.
Hey Caleb I'm thinking about going ahead and getting an accordion but I'm kind of stuck on which key whether I want the key of C or B-flat. Could you tell me what videos you are playing the accordion C and which video you are playing B-flat accordion if you are playing accordion in any of those keys please? I would appreciate it. That would help me a lot on determining which of the two I want to purchase if I could hear them. I'm wanting to play zydeco. Thanks Caleb! and keep playing.
My older videos (2013-2016ish) I played on a C. It was a beginner accordion so the sound isn’t very true in my opinion. I don’t have a Bb. If you search “Cajun Accordions in C” then do the same for a Bb, you’ll be able to here the difference in them.
You have all the licks down. Perfect timing. I love the low end triplets. Nice! Thanks for posting.
Thank you!
Talent = desire and PRACTICE! You got it, Kaleb!
Thank you!

Accordion is in the key of A. The first song was in C#m, majority of the songs were in E major, but one song was in D major.
Salute

4:06ish then 4:18 for sure is when I switch. Thank you for watching and no, I don’t have other clips of it.

Thanks man! Dry tuned.
Anyway, to me the music sounds in D - while the accordion is in A right? Can somebody answer ? Thanks.
One of the songs was in D, the rest were E, with the exception of one that was in C#m.
For Cajun and zydeco music, the accordions are typically played in the 5th scale degree. Meaning if the accordion is a C, we normally play in G because the C scale is CDEFGABC.

Taking that knowledge and transposing to an A accordion, A’s play in A, D, and E major. The minors being F#, B, and C# minor.
Whats the name of the song at 333
“Joe Pete is broke” by John Delafose
What key are you in?
Riley Hartley his accordion is a “G”
My accordion is in the key of A
Some days I wish it was a G lol

C accordians are more for traditional cajun music. B flat is very common in zydeco. If you wanna play zydeco, get a b flat. Trust me.
Yes but a fair amount of Zydeco is still played on a C. Bb was pretty typical back in the 90s, from my understanding.
