Thought I'd release this one a day early, shoutout to the peeps in the newsletter who got it early!
Would love to do this. I'm in little Rock, the drive would be worth it.
as an EU boy, I love being able to see this on a Sunday evening. Perfect entertainment, no complaints here.
I have been compiling some results from all the episodes. Really interesting to see what everyone is using and what is working.
Sadly, 300WM just lost its 100% success rate for multiple users.
Currently:
6.5Creed: 14 users, 11 hits 79%
308: 8 users 4 hits 50%
300WM: 5 users 4 hits 80%
6Creed: 4 users 2 hits 50%
338LM: 2 users 2 hits 100%
300PRC: 2 users 1 hit 50%
556: 2 users 0 hits, 0%
I would love to see mark and sam after work try this.
Jonathan's was mint, just the level of confidence to call first or second shot and then actually do it.
Well the more interesting thing would be to have Mark give his recent lecture about "Cold Bore" accuracy on this channel for this event/contest. In a nutshell, he says cold bore shots are largely luck.
@@rascalmatt6713 just watched that the other day and was thinking of it when Jonathan said second shot
@@JoeC92 Yep. I've been shooting a ton of ELR the last 3 and a half years and that's something i agree with from my own experience. If you do everything right you could hit a cold bore but if you're also good, you should nail the 2nd shot.
I was impressed with that 224v even tho he didn’t hit until round 8. He grouped pretty dang well overall
.224 Valkyrie is soooo tiny!!! How in the world did you see the splash on that! haha...Great episode. Was good to see some Arken glass represented! And dude...that donut shop needs to sponsor!!! they are already getting free advertising!
If you have a dirt back stop and a decent optic, you'll see 5.56 dust plume no problem. I've hit the milk jug at 1,006 in 3 shots using an educated guess on my DOPE for the first shot and hit a soda can at 760 yards on the 4th shot. Noveske 18" SPR.
With the DDM4V11Pro i've completed the JP challenge at 804 yards. Get off 3 shots before you hear the report of the first hit on the steel silhouette. Bang, Bang, Bang, Ding, Ding, Ding.
In defense of the Lone Star Bakery, and their Round Rock Donuts...they were an institution way before Texas Plinking was pooping in his diaper!
@@1776carpediem I remember a number of years ago, Frank from Snipers Hide was making some pretty long shots with the .224 V. I never really saw it take off though. Not sure why.
@@rascalmatt6713 224 V had almost too much hype behind it. It’s a phenomenal round but the initial twist rate that they recommended wasn’t ideal and was later discovered. Mine varies at 1000 yards but at 800 and in its very accurate and consistent. Cheers 🍻
One of the best shows, No BS just guns and skill
I think episode 10 should be a shoot out from the top 5 or 6 including yourself from the leader board. Seeing Johnathan and Courtney going head to head! Or even them playing a game of horse on the range.
an invite and shoot around for a weekend just discussing various topics with the champs would be great! I can see a 2-3 hour show being outstanding. An invite for those that missed and believe they have improved since then would be fun too.
Thanks so much for the opportunity, Brandon! I had so much fun!
Jonathan (San Antonio) is actually my bow tech at my local shop. Super fun to see him throw down some good groups with what was basically a stock 308. Well done brother!
Glad to see positive vibes on the .224. Feel like I’m a Lone Ranger firing that round. Always see negative stuff about it. Haha. Good change in pace
I could watch these if they were three hours long, my favorite series on UA-cam of all time.
I love the points system and leader board! I miss the shot numbers. I’d like to see an AR (15 or 10) every episode, even if you’re taking the shots. I think you did in episode 5?
LOVE the MOA Challenge. Its REAL! Lots of people confident but things dont go right and shows that 1000 yards its NOT EASY especially when your "out of your environment". Then you figure out why. Like the guy with "purple rain". Great shooting by all......... And I loved the bet at the end......lol. One day, I'll be on this show!!!
Love the extracurricular segment - like outtakes from a movie.
Love this series. Keep it going please
This series is the absolute best! Love the fact how each rifle is described, especially the barrel.
They need to put all, the Rifle / Scope / Load,.. Data in, a PRINT,..Format !
That’s awesome with the 224 caliber , another great episode
Have to give a man due respect who knows his rifle:) Even his cold bore shot looked as if it would have sent someone to the morgue. Wouldn't want to spy that fella setting up to do business while glassing down range. Thumb's up.
Great impressive work Johnathan 👏 👍.
The .224 getting it done for the first guy. I've got that same rail on my 6.5 Grendel.
yeah pretty awesome and he did much better than flashy "competition" purple rain gun
It's tempting to mention only the competition but, I also like seeing the different rifle builds. And calibers. Another amazing challenge, thank you Brandon!
On a roll with these, I just literally finished watching all the episodes in a row like an hour ago. Perfect timing I'd say
I was just thinking "man it would be cool if TP uploaded a 1 MOA challenge tonight". What a time to be alive! I love this series so much.
That .224 VALKYRIE made my day… I am still a believer in that round.
I’m blown away that the shooters that do this shoot don’t read their miss and quickly apply the correction to the tgt !!! I admire them tremendously for trying and having the fortitude to do the shoot. Having cameras and an audience is different than shooting without them. Thanks for the video!!!
I'm actually very surprised by it, not so much on larger calibers but low recoil cartridges you can see and measure the correction pretty accurately. enough for a second of third round hit
@@joshjamesguitar A good brake would ensure that you can see impact with any caliber.
The big factor here is that we see a high zoom and high definition video of the target and it seems so simple to us but in reality even if they have 32x scope on the rifle, they will have problems clearly seeing the target and/or hits
@@PolenarTactical I have multiple scopes and i have no problem seeing hits at 1,400 yards where i shoot. ATACR 7-35x56 and Bushnell Elite Tactical XRS 2 4.5-30x50. Hell, even my Vortex Viper PST Gen 2. 1K yds isn't really that far in regards to what your scope can easily see clearly.
@@rascalmatt6713 seems that you didn't understand my explanation so i'll try to write in in a different way.
The original commenter was surprised that some of these shooters dont just observe the impact and adjust accordingly as it seems so clear and obvious to us watching the video.
This is because we see a much clearer and zoomed in video of the target than the shooters see in their scope.
Yes, obviously you can see the targets at 1000 yards but definitely not as big or as clearly as you can in this video
1 MOA At 1,000 Yards Challenge humbling these competition shooters man. Fun to watch.
Yeah man, it was painful to watch his intro only to see him flunk it. He was moving so quickly between shots too...
Omg, and then he takes the bet and eats his own excuses... This is wild man.
I think he dialed correctly. the first shot was 2 MOA high and left, so he should have dialed 5 clicks low and 5 clicks right. but he only did 2 for each. and the shot landed exactly where it dialed (it's a good gun). then the next one, he should have gone 3 more for each but he only did one and only for the windage.
Mom is awesome! Love this channel and the friendly competition spirit it has!!!
awesome video, side bets with your mom too funny .. love the channel
Really impressed with the Valkyrie round!
Very enjoyable show thank you. So many really fine looking and performing rifles and systems. Always a pleasure watching.
Can't wait every month for theese series, really good job and keep up the good work.
Thank you for continuing this series. This is a great way for the competitors to train without the assistance of a spotter, and to make improvements on those skills they will need to compete in long range matches. It would ne nice to see how much they all improve in another match at your range.
The second Guy with the blue Matrix pro chassis is his own worst enemy. That grouping was phenomenal. He just needs to slow the F down. If you’re shooting bad, slow down. If you’re shooting good, slow down.
“Slow is smooth and smooth is fast” he’s probably used to PRS 90 seconds stages!
@@miguelcontreras9349 My thoughts exactly. For 1MOA at 1,000 yds though, you've got to ensure your breathing, bubble level, grip and trigger pull are all on point together as one. Makes me wonder what he was seeing through his scope. You have to forget that camera and or any timer.
The shots were close so he was trying to make a small adjustment and get the hit before the wind changed. He may have gone a Little fast but he was trying to take advantage of what information he was getting from the last shot, when you think about the dispersion of the shots it’s almost just bad luck that he didn’t get a hit.
Don’t forget their pov in their scopes are not as great as what we see as the viewer
Oh man if the guy with the purple rain rifle would’ve came down 2/10ths he would’ve been all over that plate. Idk why he didn’t adjust he just kept shooting in the same spot lol
Congratulations to the Winner!! Very Impressive on both the Rifle and scope!!!
I loved when you put the X's in the missed shots! 224 valkyrie was close!
Can’t believe how engaging this content is. Keep it coming.
Love that the guy with the $400 scope dominates. I've said that about Arken scopes the EP line is good enough to not be a limiting factor in your performance.
Love all your videos!~ Please keep them coming!
Glad to finally see someone bring a 224!
Love these videos. Please keep them coming!
Love me some Valkyrie. Your series is perfect for us wannabes that might could do this! Thanks for putting these on.
Also being from victoria tx. Thats awesome to see someone from my hometown perform so good in this challenge!
Fantastic, really enjoyed, thanks 😊
@TexasPlinking Man, I love this series. Love seeing all the hardware, I so wish I could do this challenge.
I have a Bergara BMP and really enjoyed seeing this modified one perform. It was nice to see how he kept the stock chassis. Totally understand; I love that chassis and have also added an ARCA rail to mine. That's about the only thing I'd like to see Bergara incorporate into the next gen. Especially when I compare it to much more expensive rifles like the Tikka T3X TAC A1 which doesn't have adjustability without tools, or accuracy international stocks that still use keymod rather than MLOK.
I legit look forward to these every month. Keep it up man!
I always enjoy these videos. Thank you
love this series! It`s existence has done a lot to promote long range shooting as a sport.
Love seeing Valkyrie out there with factory loads that round doesn’t get its flowers.
Morning Champs. What a fun episode!
I appreciated when you showed shots on the image numbered. Made it easier to see what type of grouping was occurring (neglecting holdover adjustments, etc.).
Cool seeing a 224 valk. Capable cartridge, but without a spotter you are hampering yourself.
Outstanding Performance
Really enjoyed the entire video.
A skilled and humble winner 👍
Jason , Good to meet you at yesterdays match , we had a good squad of people just having fun ...
Good one. Jason did indeed have the talant. Read the wind accurately
How fun was that. Great viewing. Thx
Great to see the 224 make it. Under estimated cartridge with lot of potential.
That 224V!!! Impressive as hell.
love this show. And being from Texas myself good to see...
Went to high school with Jonathan, computer maintenance Mr. Mixon's class. Coming across this series out in Iraq, great shooting man! Awesome representing Victoria!
Thanks for the comment! Mr Mixon’s class was always fun to be in! Is this Jacob?
@@Jo3Tech nah Troy man, Brandon and I were always playing games and screwing around lol
Clicked on this right when I saw it! Love this content super fun to watch!
Love Arkin. I have the EP-5 mounted on a Savage 110 Stealth Evo chambered in 338 Lapua Magnum.
Christensen arms guaranteed to shoot under a 37 inch group at 100 yards. May or may not feed....
It’s killed all 12 of my African animals 😊 rifle is a shooter and I was using a different magazine. But no excuses for me not hitting the target other than lack of range time! Thanks for tuning in!
Every time I watch an episode, I hope everyone gets a hit. I enjoy watching, but hopefully soon I can get my chance to come out and try. Great job everyone
Excellent series on bringing anyone on the show to shoot 1moa at 1K. Really like the rifle and cartridge breakdowns before they shoot. Great information. Jonathan bringing a cartridge out that I never heard of is pretty cool. He mentioned the cartridge being 'slow' at 2,700fps...amazing. Wondering how fast those can go at their standard speed with the weight he's using.
I can push that round to 3100fps but that’s really rough on my brass. But I went slow to tame the recoil and save barrel life as well
@@Jo3Tech 3,100fps...that pill is really moving. I understand the idea of saving your brass for more shots down the road and barrel life. Very nice shooting, sir...VERY NICE.
I absolutely love seeing guys ( run what they brung)
Another great video!!!!
I still swear up and down if I didn't live in PA I would love to try this great series
I wait for this series every week! I learn so much from these shooters. Thank you!
@@bonsaiforu What are you actually "learning" ? if you don't mind me asking.
@@rascalmatt6713 The little things with each shooter. For example, some people dial their elevations and wind ages a lot, while others seem to hold over for the most part. Some people get stressed after 3-4 shots and end up missing all 10 usually. Shooting 1K requires a lot of attention to detail subconsciously which comes from training. I usually watch each episode 3 times or more and go back and forth between trigger and impact shift.
Love the new point system and can't wait for this contest to keep going. At the end of the year we should have the top 10 out to compete for the grand trophy
Thanks for the code. Got it for less than Amazon, which is always good!
Cant wait to see a PSA Saber 10 on here
Thanks @texasplinking I got to listen to this session on the way to the range this morning.
Absolutely the best gun series on UA-cam.
I love these videos!
Something that would be cool is footage through the scope, if you get applicants that have that type of optic.
Yay finally allowing the extra shots on the .5
I really enjoy seeing everybody get it done
I don't think there's been an episode yet, where everyone "got it done". lol
Great video! Can’t wait to see someone with a 243 Ackley Improved try the challenge!
Looks like a very fun contest. I would drive all the way from North Carolina and give it a try if I was selected and had the time
Love your Mom's competitive trash talk.
I stop everything I'm doing to watch these when they come out.
Great Vid It's a surprise every time 🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯🎯👍👍👍👍
He should do a fan favorite. My vote is for the young man with the Mosin. That was awesome :)
Love the fact that the $500 Arken won the match. Just a phenomenal optic, no matter what price.
Whether they hit the target or not just seeing your shot on the berm is pretty awesome 👍
I remember for Basic Training we’d have to hit the 500 and 600 meter targets to qualify for sharpshooter and Expert using Iron Sights!!! 😂 Good Times!!!
Another great video.
Amazing shooting great shots
I really like this format. I’d like to think I’d be in the middle of the pack on this, but would be chasing the pack. Puts a lot of emphasis on wind call. I’d love to try this with my 25 creedmoor or 25 prc. Again, great content. Subscribed and following.
really cool for coming out and be recorded for youtube :P
Blue and purple rifle is a prime example of thinking the more you spend and looking good equals ability
It also show that because you do something alot doesn’t mean your good. “I shoot alot of matches”
I purchased a Tikka T3X Super Varmint in 6.5 PRC and was only getting 1MOA out of it with factory ammo. I purchased an MDT ACC Premier chassis i believe it's called for 1,500 bucks..... new MOA ? 1.1MOA. I shoot a LOT. So the drop in accuracy with the new chassis (and better bi-pod) was rather disheartening. I learned a valuable lesson. No more expensive chassis's for me.
PRS is a joke anyways.
"Hey guys, lets all see who can balance our 30lb 6 Dashers on a fence post and jerk the hell out of our 2oz triggers the best!"
@@Longshot762x51 I wouldn't go that far. There are a lot of pros in the PRS that can clean an entire 100 shot day and that also excel in F-Class. I have watched many PRS shooters nail 1 MOA targets at 1000-1200 while balancing it on a fence post.
Dude with the 224 Valkyrie knew himself and his rifle well. He called it by sayin he would probably hit it around the 10th shot
Goes to show how much old mate with his Mosin eps back was punching above.
Love this series! When you show the leaderboard, is there a way you can also indicate what episode that person shot? Thanks and more power!
Great vid! 224 was amazing.
Leader board should show semi auto ARs vs bolt guns. Otherwise, great scoring.
Great video
Nicely done Jonathan! That cold bore shot was just off the plate but not the follow-up. Good shootin'!

Welcome to the 9th episode of the Texas Plinking 1 MOA At 1,000 Yards Challenge. A monthly video series where I let 5 fans come out with their equipment and attempt to shoot a 10" gong at 1,000 yards in under 10 shots. If they hit it, they can use their remaining shots on the 5" gong. The 10" gong is worth 10 points and goes down 1 point after every shot. The 5" gong is worth 20 points and goes down 2 points after every shot. Once both are hit, the challenge is complete and each unfired round is an additional point. New episodes go live on the 1st Monday of every month!
Oh man! Your mom upping the bet! 💵
Hey man how do I setup a chance to get out there and be on an episode of 1moa @ 1000yds I’ve been obsessed with this series since it launched
This is one of my absolute favorite series of any UA-camr
