Should I get an xl in the fanatic vest? (Xl is my usual soze in most other clothing but the stratus xl jacket just seemed a little snug after considering I don’t like to be restricted and want to layer under it) your opinion would be greatly appreciated!
If you typically wear an XL, I would go with the XL for the vest. I don’t feel like it runs large in size. Good luck and hopefully it works out for you.
What kind of durability is going on with the incinerator bibs. I want the jacket, but I need durability. I'm less worried about the jacket, as I would only need it on stand.
No issues at all. If I am wearing them while walking in, it is on quite paths that I have setup for my tree stands. If I am carrying the Lone Wolf on my back with all my camera gear, I pack these in and put them on in the stand. Too hot to walk in with all that weight.
@@HoosierHunter That sounds about right. I am pretty familiar with Cabela prices and based off that, the figure I came up with right as I was first watching your clip was $1,500. Which, when you think about the excellent quality, the longevity in holding up to wear and tear, the amount of applicable seasons of use over the years (this system could apply to most North American big game) and for the substantial number of items in your particular collection, $1,600 is really not that bad and can be considered a decent investment. Do you think the Tool Bucket would be a good day pack option even if I’m not carrying a climbing stand? These days I’m either in a ladder stand, elevated or ground blind. Thanks for your help.
Jeff Carpenter I’m a big fan of it just because of my filming gear and always being in a tree stand. I still think it would be just fine for what you’re using it for but will get the full affect out of a stand.
Thanks! Appreciate ya! I got tired of using thick winter boots so I pretty much use my Salomon Quest 4D’s for all seasons. I just take book blankets with me for colder hunts. I don’t like big bulky boots when trying to be quiet in the woods.
Thank you again. What is your foot protective gear like? I’m in between alphabury pros and muck artic. You mentioned the base core layers. Smart wool has a 150 and 250 systems. Will that be the same but in EVII?
What temperatures are you using the stratus with the fanatic vest? And how does it work on the out side vs the inside? I’m debating between Celsius midi or fanatic vest for my stratus jacket
@@HoosierHunter The only sitka gear I have is early season and equinox and apex pants. I am looking to get more clothing but for the rut and colder temperatures. I hunt mostly in Georgia. It Is usually 30s-40s average cool temps but it can get into the 20s. What do you recommend?
I would say for those temps, you would be happy with the Stratus set. It’s real versatile with some decent base layers. You could alway add in the Fanatic Vest later of needed but should be good with some good base layers.
Getting my gear setup and I am in between the fanatic hoodie and the equinox hoodie. Any reason to get the fanatic over the equinox? I want it as a mid layer to walk to the location for the incinerator bibs and the fanatic with a Merino wool baselayer.
Well, I absolutely love the Fanatic and use it on every hunt, but I also want the Equinox as well. I have never worn the Equinox, so I can’t give you a fair comparison but can tell you you would like the Fanatic.
@@HoosierHunter I tried the fanatic hoodie and liked it. It reminds me of the core hoodie on steroids. I also have the fanatic lite suite bibs and jacket and really love it for mid season. But for late season I got the incinerator bibs and the fanatic jacket. Love the combination but to walk and hang the saddle and the sticks I need a mid weight. The equinox seems like it has the same material as in the lite, good Sitka quality but feels like it's lacking on the features of the fanatic hoodie. Feel like ordering it to test it out.
BIM Dynamics in late season I wear the Incinerator Bibs in with the legs unzipped and usually just have a Merino base layer on up top or at most, the Fanatic Hoody over the Merino base layer that way I don’t sweat too bad.
I also wear a large in majority of Sitka gear, I plan on getting the fantatic set, would you recommend bumping up to an extra large for the fanatic for layering purposes?
Yes, I would. It adds just a little more flexibility for a piece or two under it, if needed. Appreciate you watching and subscribe to see future vids 👍
HoosierHunter thank you, should I stay with a large bib and just go with an extra large jacket? forgot to ask in previous comment, also great videos thank you for sharing your knowledge!!
@Pitt Burgh While I certainly agree that the Sitka brand is expensive, the truth is that it works extremely well from the standpoint of design by keeping you warm all day without being super bulky - nice system to have when you are moving around during the hunt! I will use this analogy as well - its like shooting all day with a Beretta a400 extreme shotgun versus an inexpensive shotgun, they both will bring down the game but with the Beretta having a huge recoil reduction this gives you a much different & enjoyable experience! Buy the Sitka gear on sale after the season and buy the best gear that you can afford - like everything in life, some things are just better not necessarily a rip-off!!
HoosierHunter thank you for the reply, I wasn’t sure if the optifade would work well with ground hunting during rifle season as I know it was mainly made for up in a tree stand
Hey buddy. If you subscribe to my channel and look at some of my other videos, I go through everything I put in my pack. I usually keep it simple with lunch meat sandwiches, beef jerky and water 👍
It’s for the hand muff and they claim it gets the zipper out of your way better and off the middle of your neck. Incan kind of see that or notice that but it’s not a big bonus/advantage.
HoosierHunter yea I mean it’s a unique design, seems like it would take some gettin used to, probably pretty weird at first haha. Thanks for the reply man!
what brand cabinet is that i would like to get something like this for my garage any help or direction were to look thanks much for the sitka gear review
The stuff is severely overpriced. Mostly made of polyester and spandex just like the stuff from Walmart. Also likely made in the same sweat shops in China. Look it up. You were sold on the marketing and the "system". Literally still layering just like before. Traditional bow hunting podcast has a video on why buy hunting clothes from Walmart. It has very valid points. After some research you will understand that you are swept up in the marketing and then try to justify way overspending on the same materials you get from Walmart. It's called conformation bias. Example; KUIU 93% polyester 7% spandex hoodie is $80. Gilden brand 93% polyester 7% spandex hoodie $12. Paying for the fancy name. Plenty of cups out there that do what a Yeti does, but people want or need that name on the side. It's Gucci Camo. That being said, great video and thorough review. Well presented.
@@Wiscobowhunt That's the thing. If you believe their million dollar marketing team then sure there is more to it. I'm not saying it's bad or against it. I'm saying it is overpriced. Literally the same things are out there made of the same materials for a fraction of the price. The reason being is it doesn't have Sitka printed or stitched to it. Just like a Yeti. Plenty of cups out there does what a yeti does at a fraction of the cost. But these companies know with the right marketing and "influencers" behind their product people will pay any price. It's just over priced. I like to use my old military gear. Any decent surplus store you can find top rate base layers, mid weight and water proof camo. And will be HUNDREDS less than Shitka.
My current favorite is the Kelvin Active Jacket. I hunt in Indiana in the Parke County area and the jacket is great through the entire season. Breathes well and stays very warm as a layer piece. Great video, keep them coming
I have looked at the Kelvin pretty hard, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Really like the looks of it and the Celsius Midi. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I would say the fanatic hoody is my most versatile piece and favorite. Recently picked up the new equinox hoody I’m looking forward to try out this year as well.
I wear it on every hunt!! I love it! Me wearing it in an environment where I am warm, doesn’t mean you will be warm with my same layering in that environment! Each person is different! Can’t help ya there.
Maybe it's just me but Sitka's polygene does not work for me. I prefer wool base layers otherwise I stink before I get to my to my treestand. Your set up is extremely expensive (too expensive). I am a fellow Hoosier at the North end of the State (not sure where you are). Also got burrs to worry about. Most people think that they need to spend a bunch for deer hunting. Military surpplus pants and jacket work if you want camo. From my experience that high end stuff ain't worth the price, I still get cold with that fancy stuff and I keep going back to my broke in Carhartts when it gets cold (for late November, December and January it's just as quite as that fanatic fleece). Tried that fanatic stuff last winter sent it back it ain't warm enough, I think it needed a hoody (might help). Sure without camo you don't have that 'cool' factor. That neck gaiter (had it gave it to a friend and he gave it back said it was worthless) would be better if it had windstopper. Cut the top of Carhartt hat and use that works better much cheaper. That gtx incenerator hat ain't warm with its berber fleece ( I know had it gave it away). My Carhartt stocking cap is way better. Wool base layer, cotton shirt and fleece lined pants, down jacket and a fleece pullover top will get you to mid 30s. Add Carhartt bibs and coat to get down to 0. For Western hunting Sitka and other mountain hunting companies make decent gear for deer hunting it's overrated and over priced.
Aaron Wilder I love it all and it works for me. To each their own. I didn’t pay full price for any piece by a long shot. Almost all 40-50% of full cost. Great stuff!! 👍
Glad to hear you didn't pay full price for stuff. 👍👍 If you're satisfied with it then I guess it's worth it to to you. I would be less critical of the stuff if it wasn't made in China for the price that they charge. I mean if I am paying for an item made in China I expect to pay a whole lot less not more. But to each their own. I just hate to see people blow their hard earned money on stuff when there are cheaper options available. I got a few things for Western hunting from Sitka heavily discounted (non camo so I can wear it every day). And for what I paid I am happy with it. Picked up the Jetstream jacket and a Puffy jacket for $75, I think that is closer to a fair price for those items. 👍 It's opening day tomorrow best of luck and happy hunting!
You too buddy! I want to get some of the solid color stuff as well so I can wear it every day or whenever. I am going to Alaska next fall to hunt so might get a few different pieces for that. Good luck!!
Lol did you marry sitka’s owner’s daughter haha. Just messin around but I know you didn’t pay full price, no way anybody unsponsored could justify all that Sitka to their wife lol. Where’d you find all that gear discounted?
Excellent video. Sitka, huh? If I knew then what I know now, I would never have bought the incinerator jacket. Nothing in that jacket is worth $600. I've worn it twice and wish I could get rid of it! I'm 5' 7 at 155 pounds. Think I the medium would be perfect...NOT! Thing is to short even for me! Sleeve are to tight and most of the down shifts to the top of the arms leaving cold spots on the other side. $600. Oiy Vay! Next the jacket makes all kinds of unnatural noses when brush rubs against it! And it is only a walking sleeping bag when you are walking. Things I like: It is waterproof and of course windproof and it is relatively light weight. Don't buy into the sitka marketing scam. Their claims on this jacket, exaggerated to say the least. And customer service, you are SOL if you hate the it and want to return it. You only can if it's brand new so how the hell are you going to find out if it works? Sorry. Thanks for the $600. Have a nice life.
@@HoosierHunter you know what i'm meaning. I'm not trying to tell you what to do on your channel. Camo, in general, is overpriced, especially sitka and kuiu. $600 for pants??? Are you sponsored by them? I'm guessing you get something, for giving them advertising.
I respect the civil reply. I do agree that some items are overpriced, but I think a lot don’t take into account they have never used the items or the amount of time they will use the items. Also, 100%, I am in no way sponsored by Sitka or get money from them by making videos on them. This just comes from subscribers asking for videos on various setups and what camo I use. I spend a ton of time hunting and in came each and every year. It’s worth it to me and again never paid full price for any piece.

@@blaineedwards8078 yep, I have compiled this over several years and don't regret any of it. I use a lot of it through colder months too. Going to coyote hunt tonight and will be using quite a bit of it. I get tons of use out of all my Sitka gear and it's going to last me a great while!
Thank you so much for this video.
No problem and thank you for watching! Have a good one.
Could you use this for waterfowl as well?
Yeah, you sure could.
great video. Thanks.
Appreciate that 👍. Have a good one!
What size is your vest?
I went with a Large.
Thanks! Nice content. What boots do you use?
Thanks! Appreciate ya! I got tired of using thick winter boots so I pretty much use my Salomon Quest 4D’s for all seasons. I just take book blankets with me for colder hunts. I don’t like big bulky boots when trying to be quiet in the woods.
@@HoosierHunter thanks! New sub!
@@northofdetroitoutdoors7404 really appreciate that buddy! Thanks!
Thank you again. What is your foot protective gear like? I’m in between alphabury pros and muck artic. You mentioned the base core layers. Smart wool has a 150 and 250 systems. Will that be the same but in EVII?
Thanks! I use the Irish Setter Vaprtreks and then when it gets colder I use the Alphabury Pros. Yes, those should be very similar 👍
Thank you so much
I have the alphaburly pros and don't like them very much. They are really warm but super heavy. My dad has the muck Woody Max boots and loves them!
Alphas aren't warm below 30 and on stand.
What temperatures are you using the stratus with the fanatic vest? And how does it work on the out side vs the inside? I’m debating between Celsius midi or fanatic vest for my stratus jacket
It really depends on the wind. I would say mainly in the 30’s. Anything lower than that and I wear my Fanatic Jacket.
Boiler up am I right?
Thanks for the vid, I liked it
Appreciate you watching! Thanks 👍
Thanks again. I appreciate your help and suggestion on the gear.
BIM Dynamics no problem man 👍
What pattern is that, and with that do you hunt woods or field? I’m in woods in southern Indiana trying to decide which pattern to go with
It’s EVII. I hunt in the woods 95% of the time.
Thank you
What's your weight to help me decide sz? Thanks
That parts a minute into the video. 220lbs 👍
Matthew Dennis thanks! I went with L in bibs and XL in the jacket. Works great for me.
💯. Didn’t pay full price for one piece of my Sitka Gear.
What is the strap on the back of the overalls for?
You can roll the bibs up real tight and that strap has a male end that clips into a female end so you can pack them in to your stand easily.
Do you use the Sitka system for rifle hunting as well? Like ground hunting?
Yep. Sure do. I also wear it during real cold temps while coyote hunting.
HoosierHunter thank you for the reply, I wasn’t sure if the optifade would work well with ground hunting during rifle season as I know it was mainly made for up in a tree stand
Matthew Dennis no problem! It does well for me as it really does blend in well with all the dead vegetation around during those winter months.
HoosierHunter awesome that saves me from having to buy any of the subalpine stuff I want something I can use all season
What do you carry in your pack and to eat?
Hey buddy. If you subscribe to my channel and look at some of my other videos, I go through everything I put in my pack. I usually keep it simple with lunch meat sandwiches, beef jerky and water 👍
Is the fanatic hoody a good for 60 degrees
Yes, it is. Very versatile.
@@HoosierHunter thanks for the reply. Been looking at there stuff need new early season suit but also want for late season layer. In illionis
It’s my most used piece, for sure. Lots of uses.
Are u sponsored by them or is this all stuff you’ve gathered over a few years?
I wish I was!! It has taken me about 3 years to get this and just watching for sales and good discounts.
HoosierHunter Also, do you know why all the fanatic stuff has the diagonal zipper? Is it just for the hand muff or is there another functional reason?
It’s for the hand muff and they claim it gets the zipper out of your way better and off the middle of your neck. Incan kind of see that or notice that but it’s not a big bonus/advantage.
HoosierHunter yea I mean it’s a unique design, seems like it would take some gettin used to, probably pretty weird at first haha. Thanks for the reply man!
Do you use any kind of scent control on your Sitka gear?
I just run my through a cycle of ozone. I don’t use any kind of sprays or scent cover, typically.
HoosierHunter thank you for the reply, what about a scent free laundry detergent? Any specific kind you recommend?
Matthew Dennis no problem. I like Hunter Specialties and Dead Down Wind. Be sure to subscribe to see future videos 👍
@@Matthewdennis1 I use a cheap regular scent free detergent that works great. I actually got the idea from John Eberhart.
what brand cabinet is that i would like to get something like this for my garage any help or direction were to look thanks much for the sitka gear review
Thanks man! I bought this on sale at Big Lots. Not sure if you have one of those around you or not? Good luck 👍. Subscribe to the channel to see more!
Is that elevated II?
Yep
Boi that’s a 3k pile right there
Sitka designs everything so well
Yep, full price it would be. Good stuff 👍
What is ur height and weight?
5’10” - 215lbs
The complete system
You for got the boots lol
dam bro did you win the lottery ?
I wish! Paid no more than 65% of retail for any of this. But would more than likely pay full Sitka prices for it all...because it’s great!

@@HoosierHunter well that don't do me any good. i'm a veteran working part time.
I like my Sitka, theirs alittle more to it than you think. But to each their own.
What is your favorite piece of Sitka Gear or the piece you want to try the most?
My current favorite is the Kelvin Active Jacket. I hunt in Indiana in the Parke County area and the jacket is great through the entire season. Breathes well and stays very warm as a layer piece. Great video, keep them coming
I have looked at the Kelvin pretty hard, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. Really like the looks of it and the Celsius Midi. Thanks for watching and the comment!
I think I'd want to try the mid-season or late season clothes the most...probably the Incinerator jacket.
I still want to try that jacket as well since I like the Incinerator Bibs so well. I'm happy with the Fanatic Jacket too though.
I would say the fanatic hoody is my most versatile piece and favorite. Recently picked up the new equinox hoody I’m looking forward to try out this year as well.
🙌
🤘🤘
Doesn't mean anything until I see it in an environment !! ??
If you're satisfied with it then I guess it's worth it to to you.
It's opening day tomorrow best of luck and happy hunting!
You too buddy! I want to get some of the solid color stuff as well so I can wear it every day or whenever. I am going to Alaska next fall to hunt so might get a few different pieces for that. Good luck!!
Why am I seeing just a pair of hands and part of a face floating?
Haha! Always hiding!
lol all i could think about was man, thats a lot of money being thrown on the floor! LOL

Lol did you marry sitka’s owner’s daughter haha. Just messin around but I know you didn’t pay full price, no way anybody unsponsored could justify all that Sitka to their wife lol. Where’d you find all that gear discounted?
Haha!! Good stuff man! None of it was even close to full price. All was 40-50% off. LEOadventures is how I got all of mine.

Maybe you could try and trade someone for the Fanatic. You would take a little loss but I bet you would like it better!
Worth it? No in my book
Different books we have!
What's that 10 grand worth 🤣
Made in China? Nope I’ll find something else.
Cool
Don't say it's worth it, it's way overpriced. Why are people happy about overpaying?? No wonder everything keeps going up and up and up.
I can say what I want on MY channel! I didn't pay full price for any piece I own. My channel and my thoughts.
Not worth it at all in my opinion but to each is own.
