Just bought the Aprilaire E080 for the crawl space from Crawl Space Ninja diy store. Also got the model 76 for remote control, and a vent fan. I’ll be doing a mold remediation myself with fogger and Anabec advanced cleaning solution plus from your store. Then I’ll be doing a French drain myself with 2 sumps and then doing an encapsulation. Hope the French drain works right and the encapsulation lasts! And Mary Beth C was very helpful and knowledgeable! Wish you guys were in illinois

Brian, what’s going on with the QC at your company? I received a unit with a malfunctioning fan clearly evident when you turn on the unit for 2 seconds??? This shouldn’t be the case for a $1200 dehumidifier. Very frustrating that I have to take apart the unit and change it.
Hi Will, this damage most likely occurred in shipping. Please call Aprilaire's support line 1-800-334-6011 and they will be able to help you get it taken care of.
How do you handle mold on a few pair of leather shoes & on leather purses that were kept in a closet that rarely anyone goes into? This closet is on the main floor of an empty bedroom of a ranch home...... Are all the clothes in this same closet moldy? I don't see anything obvious on the clothes (but I realize microscopic mold could be on the clothes). Should everything go into the garbage? I'm not sure how to handle this situation. There appears to be no mold in the empty bedroom anywhere else. Thank you.
As long as there is no physical damage you can probably wash them and then just make sure they dry all the way and you begin controlling moisture in that area so it doesn't happen again.
I'm assuming that a dehumidifier should be thrown out when using it to dehumidify an area that has mold.. after its been used and after the area has been remediated.. am I correct? Mold spores will accumulate in the dehumidifier in a situation like that.. makes sense to me, any insight for this?
The dehumidifier can be decontaminated using products that will not cause corrosion inside the dehumidifier. A lot of HVAC contractor products like coil cleaners address mold too. I hope that helps thanks for watching.
@@CrawlSpaceNinja I'm just trying to figure out the best way to do a test to see if mold is in the air, and or the furnace/ducts, and thought that would be a great way to figure it out... besides testing the heat vents themselves.. which I plan on doing. Also a fan I use every night which is right in front of our vents for heat/ac . ty for your response.
@@CrawlSpaceNinja I understand that.. what I'm trying to find out, is can I take a sample from the dehumidifier that has been running for 2 months to see if there is a presence of mold in the dehumidifier.. that would tell me there is mold in the air.
So you said that it's bad to have two or more vents in your crawlspace but wouldn't that be the same as attic ventilation? Everyone has the soffit and box or ridge vents and that's pretty much the same thing as some houses that have crawlspace vents
I live in a apartment and I just found out I’m allergic to 3 types of mold. I have asthma and I have had breathing problems for 2 years. Just found out that the mold is causing my breathing problems. What can I do? Dr is suggesting allergy shots. I have done everything I can do in my apartment and there is a smell I can’t get rid of. What should I do?

Asking the real questions here
always saw a dehumidifier as a way of preventing mold

Love this channel 👍
So why not drop in a vapor barrier and install or treat with some sort of lighting that kills mold like UV-C light?
We use vapor barrier but not UV due to efficiency, we apply other mold products.

Hi! That is not correct. You can actually clean the dehumidifier and its components.

how about a heat lamp to evaporate the moisture...with a light. Really
We do not have any experience with that method and therefore cannot recommend it as a viable option to control humidity.
Always remember, mold is to never be killed. Only removed. #facts
