Hi Chris, great video, would love to see a comparison between The new CCM AS3 And the Bauer Ultrasonics, relating to construction quality, comfort, I am going to upgrade soon and want something a bit more high end but We are spoilt for choice with all the features, the new Bauer sizing system is a good , I have mostly used CCM but the ultrasonics are also tempting
Great video. Maybe the reasoning just went over my head, but I'm bummed they got rid of the injected lacing system in favor of eyelets on the ultrasonics. My 1s skates are the first I've ever had with the injected system and its been so nice not having broken eyelets and a bit of a stiffer feel.
I agree. Injected facing just works. Easier to tie, preserves tension better.
i am begging they are keeping that feature on the vapors until the next model
Maybe ask Bauer if you can get the Ultra Sonics custom made with the Injected inlet system? I've looked into it been told that for about an extra $100-150 , you can get everything custom and pick basically whatever you want...
Most of the pros that test the skates all preferred the feel of the traditional eyelets over the injected system. The traditional eyelets are also infinitely easier to replace, as if one of the injected T holes breaks, you need to either replace the entire injection system on that side, or do some sort of long-winded hack, similar to what the Devils equipment staff did for Blandisi. I've only used the Supreme line, from the inception to the present, and only my MX3 skates had the injection molding, which subsequently broke 2 months into the season, and since then have been getting custom skates with the traditional eyelets. Currently on the 2SPro, and loving them! Side note: using traditional eyelets with waxed laces keep the skates ultra tight. Waxed laces can be an absolute bitch to untie when you are playing outside, but you win some, you lose some.
Andrew Ross For the level I play the injected facing is fine. I loathe wax laces. It’s a shame they can’t develop a ratchet strap for rec players.
straight up i would go for the 2x pros just because i like how they look so much more lol that fluorescent green and red combo is filthy either way glad i waited to upgrade my skates
Thank you for the great review. I am looking for new player skates and this video was extremely helpful. Especially in light of the fact that Bauer went to the brand new "Fit" system.
Hi Chris, thank u for yoir vids, love them! I know they are both top end skates but is there one stiffer than the other?
As a black hockey player let me tell you I seen this on my feed and I rarely see any hockey on my feed...but seen the skate thumbnail and was like ok let me see what this is about as it was playing the vibe just made me think this is not a white person’s channel or is it I asked myself...so I went to the main page scrolled through the videos and just seen you in all of them and I subscribed instantly....I played for a club in DC For coach Neal Henderson and man thank you I didn’t even watch a min of this vid and I’m awestruck thank you for bringing content and helping us progress in a world that anyone and everyone can play in.... cheers
You should make a video where you complaire the super tacks as3 pro vs the ultra sonics
This is exactly what I was looking for, thanks :D!!
Hello, there is something I don't get. Bauer will re-produce the 2x pro with the 1,2,3 fit system? Because the 2x pro is already available since months with D/E/EE fit system. Thanks alot
Chris, thanks for the video. Do you know if the launch day of these skates going to be July 31 or earlier? The Supreme Ultrasonic will go for about $1200? I am in Vancouver Canada. Thanks
Some select store have limited early availability now of the New Ultrasonic skates. However, the global launch is June 26th. Hope this helps
With the new outsole on the ultrasonics give them more of a one-piece feel or will it feel like a two-piece boot
So.. in anyone’s opinion what would you go for personally? I think Vapor.. but the ultrasonics look a bit better?
Awesome videos! I’m a big fan of hockey but cause I live in South America there are no teams or places to play hockey and also not too much people watch it here.
hi chris, is ccm going to do this?
Hi Chris, do you know if the fits 1 2 and 3 will carry down into the next level down skates like say vapor 2x, not the pro and whatever Bauer’s answer to the prior 2s, not the pro?...Wooohoo awesome, with the new system I may actually be able to go back into the Vapor which is what I always wore until Bauer went and made them shallower so my instep wouldn’t work...My Vapor XXX skates were awesome back in the day
it’s the same for the whole lineup if i’m not mistaken... not everyone can pay 1k( u.s.) for skates like that😂
Great vid guys!!
When will this type of fitting be introduced in stores?
Will this all apply for goalies as well? I currently wear vapor 2x pro player skates but supreme 2s pro goalie skates (the fits are the same for goalie versus player in supreme and vapor).
did the prices of the other supreme skates go down?
Do you think there is a chance for bauer to do the same thing with sticks for example:
Fit 1 low kick
Fit 2 mid kick
Fit3 high kick
Thats basically what it is now, you chose sticks for their kick point and not their fit
You can do that with custom sticks if you mean you want a mid kick on a vapor stick
Are they getting rid of nexus sticks too??
How many times can you say “agile” and “power” in one video
I have always used supreme skates but I am realizing the vapor skates fit my play style. I would like to make the switch to a vapor skate but I have a feeling that it will be a big change and I wont be able to get used to it. Anyone have some insight on that?
Any on-ice reviews soon? My AS1 is starting to fall apart an this new UltraSonic look mean...
Another question, what skate ccm or Bauer is the most comfortable? I’m not too worried about performance, I’m after comfort primarily (rec hockey)
The main thing with any hockey gear is buy what fits You the best, just cause someone has the newest and sickest looking skates doesn't mean they are the best even for them or you. So do your research and don't buy the first pair of skates you try on, even if they feel good..Go try on different pairs at different stores and talk to the guys that are actually selling the skates ...Some stores will just sell you whatever is most expensive just to get a sale...Also, if your gonna spend this much on skates for an Xtra $100 or so you can get a custom boot made by CCM , Bauer or True hockey...Ive spent probably at least $2000 on trying to find the right fit and so for my next pair of skates, I am gonna bite the bullet and try the True Pro skate custom, only cause everything else I've tried just causes nothing but pain lol...that makes hockey no fun lol
Ben Sallows cheers pal!
My question was is there a skate the manufacturers make that is specifically more about comfort than performance?
@@ClassicSam. lol...oh ok..I see what you mean...Try the Nexus line of skates , even tho they are supposedly being retired..The entire Nexus line was basically made to be easy fitting , comfortable wearing gear...I had the 8000s as they were really nice ...I've heard the CCM tacks are similar and the new Ribcors supposedly fit very nicely too. But ,again what might feel great for me may not for you..
@@ClassicSam. You might have already bought your skates by now, but the most comfortable are most likely custom skates. However they're equivalently priced to top-end skates, so they're probably out of your budget if you're just playing rec hockey. That being said, I don't think you should be focusing on brand when looking for comfort. Just don't buy the cheapest ones. More expensive skates are more moldable and formable to your feet after putting them in the oven, but you don't have to go for the most expensive skate to get one that's very moldable and formable. Ask your store clerk, different skate models have different amounts of "moldable zones".
*Most importantly: you 100% have to have them heat-treated / put in the oven in order to shape to your feet, otherwise all skates will be uncomfortable.* I also recommend paying extra and doing this at the store, since the store clerk will be able to press and push on the skate a lot easier than yourself doing it.
Is the steel construction/type on the ultra sonics the same as the 2x pros? It looked a little more polished in the close ups. Different branding?
The blades on the ultrasonics are titanium and the 2xpro's have black carbon blades
Keep in mind that you can just buy whatever blades you want separately. If you're actually purchasing skates that are *this* expensive, buying separate blade steel isn't such a big price increase.
Just picked them up. The blades feel a little bit different then they used to be. What is the difference?
It could just be the radius / profiling of the blade. Maybe you're used to a small radius and the skates came with a large radius, or vice versa.
great video!
Amazing vid🔥🔥🔥
Is there a list of shops that have skate scanning/ fitting equipment in the uk? Do other manufacturers have similar scanning equipment?
Most local hockey shops near me are small and don’t have more than an foot arch measuring tool.
EXCELLENT VIDEO
New Bauer skates are 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Do you know the actual profiles used on the two skates?
The Ultra Sonic Supreme Blade profile called the Power Profile is a 6-9-11-13 (Quad 0)
@@BendOregon67 thanks!
I'm surprised it's not a quad 1 or 2 though.
Which of these 2 skates are better for freestyle skating?
I tried them on and I wanted vapors but fit 2 vapors hurt my feet but fit 2 supremes felt amazing on my feet, I’m more of a speed and agility type of player, will wearing supremes over vapors affect my speed and agility for the worse?
No... If a skate hurts when you try it on , don't buy it..Those are just gimmicky ads ...Buy what fits you the best!!
Random question, but did you by chance notice a different in instep volume? I feel the midfoot (top part of my foot) really bulges out in the vapors, whereas the supremes may not do that as much even tho they are the same Fit. Let me know if that seemed to be the case.
Yoooo, great vid boys, never disappointed.
I still think the 2x Pros where one of the best looking skates to be released
I cant believe they discontinued the nexus skate love that skate great for a wide foot.
No company is going to keep producing a product line that doesn't meet sales goals.
It loks like bauer fools us all. The vapor 2x pro 8,5 EE looks identycal like 2x pro 8,5 fit 3. Can you check it some how?
😤💪
4 years ago?! These skates look 15 years old lol
CCM Skates are better... It's comfort and fit.. Your always digging with Bauer.. CCM your a swan...
It’s all marketing
Bingo, now you can get whatever color you want to get them in to fit your feet.
I’ve played my entire Life
You don’t want a 300$ boot. Sorry dude it’s not all marketing. Any seasoned player is gonna want a 500+ boot
What happen to the guy that just wants a great hockey skate to skate with , not being on a team.
hu
finally its not just about the shape of foot, that was an unfortunate time.
