We are six years into a seven year effort of transforming 20 acres of "Piney Grove" in Northwest Florida into our dream homestead/mini farm to be filled with animals and joy. We plan to have a variety of miniature critters on our pastures, raise free-range chickens, grow fish in our pond, garden, plant fruit and nut trees, and harvest wild game. Our goal is
to escape the stresses of corporate life and embrace all that country living
has to offer as we enter the next chapter of our lives. Follow along on our

We were on the farm today and were gonna continue the story, but ran out of time. But Brad did get some time on Precious in the woods, so he was happy. Thanks for watching. B&D

Yes, I’m happy for this video. I have been watching your videos from the start but didn’t understand how you were so knowledgeable until now. We also bought land and I have been watching channels that show the process like yours and your realism has made your channel my favorite in this genre. Keep the backstory going. Thanks again.

Thank you for your services. I was Air Force 1969 to 1973 AFSC 54150 Titan Missle System. I wasn't fortunate to have multiple duty stations like yourself, having spent 3 years in Wichita, Ks. I enjoyed your introductions on this video. Keep enjoying life.

I love hearing about your story. Mine is similar in some ways. I moved away from Indiana and the farm… It took me over 20 years to reach a point where I could get land of my own. It was like finding myself again! Great video, guys!

Love your stories, please continue. My story is both of yours combined. We moved a lot but I was able to spend a lot of time on my grandparents farm. Yes, farm work is hard but it builds character and I wouldn't trade that experience for anything,

Peaks Peak sent me over to say high and subscribe.
Both my wife and I moved as kids growing up. Both of us are introverts but it trained us how to make friends everywhere we went. Then we spent 40 years in the oilfield with 24 years overseas. Over 30 house moves (everything in the house ...moves). So we appreciate your story and love for Orange tractors.
Both of us grew up 'around' farming. I spent summers with cousins in Texas doing farm tasks. My wife spent summers living at her neighbors riding horses, harvesting hay, and herding cattle. She spent one summer as helper to a barrel racer and toured the OK/KS circuit. All before/during college. Then off to the oilfield and heavy iron.
Now we have 110 acres with 30 cows plus calves. Starting to repair an old mile long driveway. Rebuilt the 1890s farm house back to its initial look. Repaired a ton of termite damage in that house. And we moved to the 900 sq ft farm house to get away from the crowds here in Texas. Now working on the land to make it better for the cows and deer.

We like your story! 110 acres is nice sized patch of land. 1 mile long driveway can keep you pretty busy all by itself! Thanks for watching. Brad&Deb

You are very fortunate Brad to have met a beautiful woman that was very much a “city girl” and move her out to the country and make it work. For Josh, The Stoney Ridge Farmer, it didn’t work. It seldom does. Living on a farm or even an acreage is hard work. I know I don’t have to tell you guys how rewarding that work is though.
Having recently retired from my full time job has put a whole new spring in my step. I am now freed up to do a whole host of projects around here that I haven’t been able to get done. They will now.
Full watch and a thumbs up 👍

Thanks Gary. Josh and her actually got back together recently, so I hope it works out for them. Right now we are trying to balance two different ways of living and it's a lot to manage, but we are looking towards our time being our own and making daily progress at PG rather than weekend warriors. Congrats again on your retirement....now the work begins. Brad&Deb

How much time does it take to cut your 5 acres? Who built your pole barn?

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead  Рік тому

We can cut all of the front 6 acres or so in about 6 hours with a 5' brush hog. Here's a video on mowing the front pasture: ua-cam.com/video/sXV5CgRs3nk/v-deo.html Backwoods Buildings of Chipley, FL built the pole barn and a father/son local contractor enclosed it.
