One man,one Stratocaster, one Fender tube amp, ten fingers and a whole lotta soul.....that's "Dangerous" Denny Freeman. The man was absolutely amazing and is sorely missed, in Texas and all around the world.
Back to the 80ies when Austin was Mekka for Blues-Fans. Stevie, the T-Birds, Omar & the Howlers - and the Cobras. Don`t know why they didn`t get as famous as the other ones...
I saw this lineup of The Cobras regularly in Houston at Fitzgerald's and also at Rockefeller's. This is what $4.00 would get you. They were always "on" and they filled the room and the dance floor. There was a huge amount of talent on that stage. I learned about Texas guitarists in this order: Pre-Houston: Johnny Winter, Billy Gibbons, then, in Houston: Denny Freeman, Jimmy Don Smith, Jimmie Vaughan, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Van Wilks.
Actually Crosscut put this out in the 90s. But I'm sure it's out of print....I had a copy that I got in Austin years ago and had Denny sign. Lost that one in a fire, he sent me one that I think is made from this master. Killer album from one of the best and tightest bands you'll ever hear!
I’m going to say something crazy that I think fans will understand. The Cobras were too good for Stevie and Stevie was too good for The Cobras. What a freaking fantastic band!
I love this album. My Dad went to school with Junior Medlow. This is still one of my favorite albums. I have this on vinyl.
