I’ve had mine for about five weeks now and love it. It eats all kinds of ammo, from cheap aluminum Wolf to hollow points, without a problem. I have 500 rounds through it so far. Love the grip angle/feel better than my G19. Like the large slide release too.
Can’t believe it was only $299.00. I put a light in it and will use it as a dedicated home defense gun. I usually carry my G43X for EDC

Low price does not mean low quality. It means manufacturers are responding to competitive pressure. They all have injection molding machines and CNC machines. There is no reason for one polymer framed, striker fired handgun to cost more than any other.
The days of hand fitting, high polish bluing are long gone. Today's guns use injection molded frames, CNC machined slides and stamped parts.
There is no reason (no _real_ reason) for a Glock or FN to cost more than a Canik, Taurus, PSA ...or a S&W SD9.

You are an adult who knew the deal up front. No one is ripping you off. You want another mag, buy it. Thats the deal to market it at that price. 101 stuff. Take it or leave it, rather than whine about it. If SW raised the price to cover 2 mags for an economy beginners market that may not need 2 mags, would you complain about that too? The more people that get into this market, the better for all of us. Maybe they wont vote poorly.

These SDs and ruger security 9s and maxx 9s are litterly the best reliable and well made bang for the buck you will find and american made, beats and hi point, taurus ,keltec, or sccy , or any budget gun brands, M&P also , but the rugers and these sd you can find around $300 or less thats half the price of brand new glock with same reliabilty and durability, you can beat em, MPs are better imo but are gonna run u around 500 + still cheaper than glock and beats glock wich i love imo with reliabilty, ergonomics, and overall aesthetics

My girl has a security 9 and I’m desperately trying to get her to get rid of it because of how unreliable it is. It’s her first gun and she’s sentimental so I’m not having any luck. Light strikes and locking back with rounds still in the mag are the most common malfunctions, though it’s had some FTE’s as well. It’s the only gun I expect to malfunction when we go to the range. Nice to see yours has been reliable so far.
I’m a big fan of SW’s, I have a 2.0 compact and a shield plus, but both of them had a malfunction in the first ~100 rounds. They have been perfect ever since though. The only handguns I own that have had zero malfunctions so far are my APX A1 and a used Gen 4 G26.

I understand for people who aren't mechanically inclined the trigger upgrade is probably the nice feature in the new model. Honestly the only thing that I really liked about this over the last generation is the top of the slide with the serrations grooved into it for anti-glare properties. The front and rear slide serrations really are more cosmetics than functional, maybe they give you a little more grip but it looks negligible. I own an SD40VE and I'm getting a crisp 4.5 lb trigger pull with no creep, grit or stryker safety hump. A little take up a wall and a crisp clean break. I went with the Apex trigger duty carry kit and polished all of the contact points within the trigger group. I also opted for the Apex ultimate striker plumger and spring (polished that also). The only spring I omitted from the Apex kit was the trigger return spring I went with an M&P 2.0 unit. That brought my trigger weight right where it needed to be and provided a positive tactile reset that is also audible. Only drawback is the engineered in longer reset. I did shorten it some but if I could shorten it just a tad more it would be ideal. Unfortunately it's the nature of the beast and I think I've taken this as far as I can go, and I'm actually quite happy with it it's become one of my favorites.

The m&p is more expensive and it's a bigger pistol. There's the difference. The m&p is more for duty where the SD line is more for concealed carry personal defense. I own both and I carry the SD a hell of a lot more than I carry the m&p simply because of those reasons. The SD has a shorter slide and grip. And with one in the pipe in my 40 I'm still getting 15 rounds.

The Security 9 is pretty easy to rack but the one we have has not been reliable. A lot of others swear by them though, very possible ours just so happens to be a lemon.
The M&P compact 2.0 is also relatively easy and smooth to rack. Out of *my* handguns, she likes this one the best because she can actually operate it, something she has difficulty with on my other 9’s. Also has 4 back straps to accommodate different sized hands.
