I just want to thank you for posting this video. I recently purchased my 2013 Tundra and didn't realize the oil filter was different than what I am used to. Your video is very clear and informational. I purchased a new filter housing tool and it worked smoothly. Thank you.
The filters come with a drain valve saving that mess, look at the instructions with the filter. You do not need to remove the skid plate. If you do it's a real pain in the butt to reposition it. Remove the 10 & 12 MM bolts, and just lower its back with its hooks still in the core support. Ensure it's secure for the task, SHARP edges. You can support the bottom if you like. Get yourself a container with a handle on it to drain the filter. I have a 32 Oz container, works perfect. A 1.1/16" socket on the filter remover makes removing and installing the filter easy.
At 5:11 it's plain to see that the slots on your oil filter cap wrench don't engage with the tabs on the oil filter cap. It looks like you're using the MX2321 wrench instead of the MX2320 wrench. The newest Motivx wrench has no slots on it and is precision engineered to fit the fluted part of the oil filter caps on all Toyota built engines with a cartridge system. Your works regardless, so no worries. Just make sure it's only torqued to 18 ft.lbs. and it shouldn't give you any trouble. There's no reason to change the small o-ring under the oil filter drainbolt unless you're draining the oil filter assembly before before removing it.
Yea I just changed the little ring out of habit. Didn’t need to do it. I don’t even drain out of the small cap. Yea I’m definitely using an older version of that tool. It wiggles a little bit still got it off. Gonna buy a new housing cap and motiv tool soon

Thank you. I’m glad it helped you out. Trying to help out where I can.
I want this guy as my bodyguard. Good job man.
I just paid $122 for an oil change on my 2013 5.7L. appreciate the video...I'll definitely change mine myself next time.
Ouch. Yea a lot of money and sometimes the filter is not changed
@@MendandMake I'm wondering about...they claim they went to AutoZone...I'm sitting here while they finish up.
Sometime they change it and I’ve heard that sometimes they don’t depending on if the mechanic is willing to do it the right way.
Kinda at their mercy to do the right thing.
Just did mine today, the supplies were about $80 so I guess you save something
Thanks. Not the first one I've watched but like the tip on using the scissor jock to hold the skid plate on while you bolt it into place.
Nice tip with the scissor jack, it’s a pain otherwise. Thanks for the upload!
Yea it helps out a lot
Thanks for taking the time to make this video.
Glad you liked it

I didn’t want to just have one side dangling and bend up the skid plate. I thought about that but nope
Did all those rubber seals came with the oil flitter??? Or do you have to buy them separately?
It’s all included with your filter

Good video awesome 👌
Thank you. Glad it helped you out
What is the plastic piece that comes with the filter?
Drains the oil out of the filter cartridge. Keeps from making a mess
I came in from behind the tire and took the back 3 bolts of the skid plate out and it lays down with out coming completely off.
It bends the frame of the skid plate when you do that right?
Do those o-rings come with the new filter?
Yes they do. Both of them
