    I love that you're covering this topic. I just took my box braids out a couple of week ago after 4 weeks of being in my head. I don't go over a month anymore. To be honest, I just decided after this last time I most likely won't ever wear them again. I do my own and have since 2014 but I truly dislike the process of putting them in and taking them down. Also, I get bored of them after the first week. I know it's time to take mine out when they literally hurt from hanging loose. That uncomfortable feeling always hits me around the 3 1/2 to 4 week mark.

    Facts! You have to take them out after a month the longest. And if they’re too tight. Your hair breaks and comes out. Traction alopecia is a real thing. My niece had it and she’s only 9. I’m learning to heal her scalp and more. And she had bald spots throughout her hair. It’s growing now and it’s for sure still spots where it needs to grow.

    I enjoyed this video so much‼️I box braid my own hair and I do all of the tips you suggested except the fortifying shampoo/conditioners. I will be adding that from now on 😃 I only leave my braids in for 4-6 weeks…. I learned my lesson the hard way leaving them in too long in the past 🤦🏽‍♀️😩 I also don’t add a whole bunch of hair either cause that definitely adds too much unnecessary weight. Thanks for this video 💕🙏🏽

    The last time I had my hair braided, parts of my hair broke off. My crown and edges.
    My hair is very fine and it cannot handle the extra weight. The extra hair literally pulls my follicles out. 😢 (edit: thanks Cyn for the thorough explanations, I better understand my personal experience)

    Hi Cyn l greatly appreciate all your help and support. You are never to old to learn, and break all dotish habits. Been trying to manage my hair, still have some problems. Wash twice a week, my scalp is very sensitive so Wash. With Simple shampoo and conditioner, once every week I use Nexus scalp srub. Leve in Conditioner Kenra . When blow drying my hair there's a lot of hair on the floor. When I'm finished my hair is very dry and rough. I have very dry dull looking hair, before using the hair dryer. Can you please advise. Thanks.

    So in this case how can I keep my hair for the next 12-16 weeks for the next retouch because, some say keeping it in a bun breaks , protective style too break s,am too confused 😢

    • @IamCynDoll
      @IamCynDoll  3 години тому

      Just leave it down. Your hair doesn’t have to be in a style everyday. There is nothing healthy or protective about ponytails. If you’re tired of wearing it down use a clip. Give your hair attention. Don’t leave your hair in any style for 11-12 weeks I said 6-8 weeks in protective styles. If you don’t want to do anything to your hair for months at a time get locs.

  • @gardeniainbloom812

    I thought i was possibly allergic to synthetic braiding hair. That synthetic hair has chemicals that leach into the hair. Men with long hair get thir hair braided a lot but arent using the added hair. I dont notice issues with them.

    • @IamCynDoll
      @IamCynDoll  3 години тому

      You’re just getting the wrong hair. Simply get sanitized braiding hair it’s very simple. Men don’t do half the things women do you can not compare the two.

    Some of these braiding gel’s are downright toxic. I believe one of the braiding gel that I was using actually had relaxer in it. My entire hair texture changed, and every section of hair that I had applied the braid gel had breakage from the scalp.

    How do you feel about doing 2 loose twists that are taken down and redone daily? I am trying to figure out a low maintenance style, that doesn’t take too much time and has no tension. Currently it has been the easiest thing to do. I take them a loose every morning, then I lightly mist my hair(not to dampen, just a slight amount to rehydrate until wash day, have very high porosity hair) and then apply some oil and a dime size amount of leave in to help lay my hair down. Then I put the twist back in and pin the ends together with a small clip. I know you said twists are for locking the hair. However, I wanted your advice on whether this routine is beneficial or not. I do the twists loosely and pin them together to keep my hair from rubbing on my clothes and such. I’ve decided to only comb my hair every other day for the time sake as I have just started college. Thank you!

      How is your hair and scalp doing so far? Try to give your body more. Your hair is worthy of more movement than that.

      @@IamCynDoll I have been washing it more often since seeing your videos, once a week. My hair I would say seems fine, however I didn’t consider the hair needs more movement. What would you recommend? I do take it down everyday to smooth it out and to apply a bit of oil to prevent splitting.

    Perhaps it’s the synthetic different types of hair that smells like chemical that makes the hair and scout itch
    It needs to be tested have a high chemical smell and on contact with the scalp for most people it makes your scalp itch
    I believe it’s huge health concerns with that synthetic and different types of synthetic fake hair
    Have you noticed through the human hair don’t seem to have a problem.
