Thank you so much for your vlogmas , I'm 61 and have no family. I totally am enjoying your vlog, Japan has always been on my bucket list, again thank you so much.
The green is algae, in the US a lot of our caves limit the time their lights are on to prevent it because it can damage the cave. I know luray they only turn the lights on when someone is in the cave and turn them off as soon as people leave that part. They also turned them all off so we could experience true dark. It was crazy
I can't express how surprised I am to see this video because I actually live there! It's such a beautiful area. It has a Geopark so there's lots of good nature spots all around the city. I'm going to show this video to my friends, they'll be very happy!
I have loved every year you have done Vlogmas but I have to say, you are definitely knocking this year's vlogmas out of the park! Keep up the amazing work and I love your channel!!! Alex is so funny!
I'm really enjoying these videos! I applied for the JET program (teaching in Japan) so I really like getting to see how amazing Japan is outside of Tokyo in your videos
These places you visited in this video all seemed like a fever dream! Cool trippy tunnels... Old toy store thing with classic music... What a whirlwind of sights and sounds!
I think you forgot to put in the subtitle so for those interested, yomogi is known as mugwort in English! I make a pre-period tea and sleep tinctures with mugwort so it's very interesting that it's used in mochi there!
Hope you're keeping well Sharla! Even though you usually keep things light hearted and upbeat for the most part on the channel, you look more content now than I think I've ever seen you. Of course, it's hard to really know what someone is feeling just by how they look, but I hope that things are getting easier with every week and month. Thanks for always showing me a little of the Japan that I so desperately want to visit but still cannot!
I'm really enjoying your Christmas Vlogs. It's a real treat getting to see parts of Japan that are rarely if ever shown. You also look like you're really loving your job. Good for you, Sharla. It's nice when good things happen to nice people. Thank you.
The staff is so freaking sweet 😭❤️ I love your vlogmas so much. It's so simple and refreshing to watch ✨ you're the best Sharla! Hope you're enjoying filming vlogmas too. It must be very demanding and challenging so I hope you get a chance to reste your mind here and there 🥰 much love and thank you so much for sharing 🙌
loving it, from the top of a beautiful mountain to underground caves, wonderful area, one for the wish list, have a sweet dreams sleep and a wonderful day see you tomorrow , thank you Sharla for all the hard work you are doing for us to see all the beautiful places and people you are visiting x A bientot x
I’m so proud of you for putting out such great and polished videos every day! I know how much work that is and how hard getting it done while you’re traveling can be. Good job and thank you!
Wow! All the spots you hit before leaving were splendid, but the Showa era display got me. I have that music on CD which I bought in 2010 from a street band I happened upon in Tokyo. When they learned I was from Canada they were delighted: Now we are international! Natsukashi....
Loving getting to catch this right after the upload! One thing I actually want to mention after checking out the first few minutes of the video is just how do you manage to fit in so many different places in so little time! I feel like that'd make it hard to really take each place in when trying to cram them into a few hours before the next train ride!
Yeah normally I’d chill a bit longer at each place but I wanted to show you guys as many spots as possible so you could get a feel for what the area has to offer :D
@@sharlainjapan I'm glad to hear it! There are so many places you show where I'd genuinely just want to lay back and soak everything in! You've been doing a great job this Vlogmas, and I can't wait to see more!
This series popped up on my UA-cam feed and I watched both of your countryside video's. I hope your upcoming camping trip is as fun as this one looked! I loved the tree house you got to stay in! Green pepper ice cream?! That sounds so interesting because I love green peppers! I will look out for the tasty rice based drink you show when I can finally make it to Japan in the future! Such a cool waterfall, hiking trail, river, and cave! That train ride looked so calming and interesting! Your Ghibli analogy made me so happy and more wanting to go to Japan🥰. I watched a lot of The Travel Channel as a kid and you are by far my favorite tour guide because you give the most intimate personal look at things and if only I had started watching your video's years ago, maybe I could have tried to live a more interesting life like yours! Thanks for sharing all the amazing stuff you do. You fill me with such much needed inspiration! Have a great weekend, Sharla!! 🏕🇯🇵☀🌸🗻
Your videos definitely make being stuck at home sick a little less sucky.😷 Loving the videos, they are definitely adding to my ever growing places to see, and things to eat while in Japan list! Also you find the best guides and people to show you around Japan 😍 Much love from Arizona ❤️ ❤️
I understand your excitement for doing some beginner cave diving. It looks like that would have been a bueatiful experience. Hopefully there is a next time for you!
There’s a weird feeling I get from like early 20th C. stuff like music, movies etc or 50’s /60s Japanese stuff. It’s like nostalgia except can’t be because you’d need to have experienced it first hand to miss it, but there’s just something really cosy & comforting about the culture of those times (obviously minus the bad stuff!) Just seems like a more innocent and simple time. ✌🏻☺️
@@sharlainjapan - For sure! I only visited Hiroshima and Sasebo back in 2014 when I was in the US Navy, so I didn't have as much time as I wanted to really go out and explore, but of what I did get to see was tremendous! hiking wearing crocs! what a mad lad Alex :D I googled Yomogi and it's called Korean wormwood/Mugwort in English, never heard of it but looks familiar on pics. Edit: that retro area was so cool!

Your mountain shots gave me vertigo! 🌄 But crazy beautiful! The caves would be so fun to dive in 🤿 ...and OMG Showa Land looked so cool with that freaky music blaring. 😂 Love Alex! ❤ Such an awesome dude. 👍 Thanks for sharing your day. 🙏✌💕
Those caves remind me so much of the caves at Ruby Falls in Lookout Mountain, Tennessee. They have a huge waterfall inside that spills from the roof and when I was little my dad and grandfather picked me up and pretended they were going to throw me over. This was a recurring theme in my childhood, my dad and grandfather pretending to throw me off stuff. That waterfall, the duck pond at Disneyworld, Swing Along Bridge at Lookout Mountain. Many scares. Much trauma. 😂

The fact that everyone knows who you mean without any description
"Oh, be careful... It's a very narrow path" (5:02) Sharla, at some point, a narrow path becomes a ledge. That's a ledge.
The idea of diving in a cave is terrifying to me! I don't know if it's a claustrophobia thing, but I feel like I would just die...
Same, there's something about deep water that terrifies me anyway, but in a cave where you can see the depths is even worse! Looks amazing though.
