If we finish below 6th next season, i wish nothing but the worst for Bohely and co. We've lost a manager best suited to get us back on track for competing and winning trophies. We've lost a manager that'll fight for his players i.e Ghallagher and Chalobah. We've lost a manager that can work with what he's given and make the most of it. Most backwards decision since sacking Jose. They're hoping for a wonder manager to take us to the top with no experience and its most likely gonna backfire horrendously. Selling them for 75m between them offsets the purchase of 375m of external signings, and if you think they are worth double Palmer + Nkunku + Caceido then you have rocks in your head. But the owners believe the best way to protect their assets long term is to grow the business through winning. Bohly is on record in Qatar saying this. They are not deliberately asset stripping, they intend to build the biggest and best global brand through success with young players.
We in football generally don't believe this can be done. They think otherwise and have come to disrupt the traditional models. Time will prove them right or wrong... but they have certainly put a lot of money where their mouths are and they won't want to lose it.

That's totally fine. Poch was a B+ manager and finally under some real pressure, he improved. Take the pressure away and he would have left as the same Poch that walked in the door. The problem is that this club has a gambling problem. It was never guaranteed that this mix of players and coach was ever going to work. They assume sack Poch, sell some players and do it all next season would yield a team capable of winning 5 games in a row again. It doesn't work that way, but somehow the sporting directors have developed hubris after orchestrating a 6th place finish.

It's absolute madness! We were finally starting to see his system and structure work and the players are undoubtedly behind him... would I have like to been challenging for the title? Sure.... but you have to be realistic about where we are and we've made massive improvements from the previous season getting 19 points despite having just as many if not more injury woes. We were told it's a project and when we're finally seeing growth they do this, look at Klopp at Liverpool it took years, look at Arteta at Arsenal it took years, hell even look at Pep at City it took a year and a few transfer windows to start playing with his philosophy. The only way it would ever make sense is if we were signing in Xabi Alonso as a long term manager, which is absolutely not happening.

  • @oscaramiry1318
    @oscaramiry1318 24 дні тому

„Not too long ago, Klopp almost exclusively played a similar type of football to Poch (often referred to as gegenpressing), which led him to thrive against big teams and often struggle against anyone who sat deep and let his Liverpool team have the ball. Klopp, however, was smart and capable enough to evolve his team’s style, teach them how to play possession football, and break low blocks with ease. Time will tell if Poch will be able to do the same…“

Despite results weren't going well for most of the season I could see glimpses of world class performances within the team. I never saw Poch as a long term solution but someone that could get the team gradually improving. I never once saw that with Potter. I felt Poch deserved at least another season but as soon as he started to gain discipline and passion the owners turned on him. I've no doubt he had enough and left by mutual consent. What bothers me the most is having to start at ground zero again and the uncertainty surrounding the team and future performances. Just when you thought the owners were getting their heads together.

I don't think the owners know how to run the club. They think just signing whatever players they want and signing whatever managers they want would get success. But they gonna regret this. Poch's secret of latter day success is he dispensed with man to man marking.
The running off the ball was to find spaces and create attacking situations rather than "safety first" - hence we were able to score more goals.
The drawback was no clean sheets.
Another thing going for him was many of the opposition were tired. Spurs and Villa for example did not last the marathon.
I don't know, do you approve of this ?
Or are you looking forward to a Mou type of system ?
But the last Mou team had of course teeth up front. Eden - Diego - Cesc.
Anyway with the exception of the Arsenal match we were happy the last few weeks.
The big titles "Poch out" all but disappeared.
Overall he was better than Tuchel in his last two months - Potter - Lamps but now whether we like it or not some new adventure begins.

Pochettino’s style evolved a decade (and a half) ago during the rise of gegenpressing, an intensive, high-octane running and often chaotic brand of football originating in Germany and spearheaded by Jürgen Klopp. In the meantime, even Klopp (reportedly under the influence of his assistant Lijnders) migrated towards Guardiola’s positional, controlled style, adapting to the ever-changing football meta which nowadays consists of exclusively positional approaches inspired by Pep (and the forefather Bielsa), with all the young and revered up and coming coaches being direct or indirect disciples of Guardiola.

Perhaps there is one positive way to look at the situation: most of the time you talk about needing a well-known and super respected manager to manage the big egos at a top team. But this Chelsea team is so young I don't think anyone there would have that sort of ego, yet. Maybe this is a time you could bring in a very talented younger manager who has not dealt with a world-class team. Perhaps a young, talented manager could grow with a young, talented team and build something amazing.
Or it could be a complete cluster. Who knows?!

Tbh I see why the sporting directors want to make the signings, look at how Pochettino dealt with the signings he was given - got us top 6 when it looked impossible. They can see talents cause we have a massively improved Caicedo, Palmer's first szn immense, Gallagher looking like a new player, Jackson made good progression, Madueke looking decent, Gusto presenting himself as one of the top RBs this szn. So I am not against them having that control, however a top manager needs to work with what he wants and it shows lack of trust between the club and the manager.
