Pretty much yeah. Balan went for more ‘dreamscape’ than ‘performance’ or ‘stage play’, but that’s an apt similie.
Honestly you can say that for any 3D platformer game that came out after THAT GAME, especially any with cinematic like moments. and even some Pixel art style games too in that case that dont have the typical RPG or Rogue-like or Life sim focus genres propping them up a million times moar.
Never the less, always nice to get a nice chill game that even if its `easy`, still acts as a nice example for polished gameplay design without needing to make the gameplay a Hollow Knight level of complex input pressing for crazy control shenigans to make it `S`kay.` levels of nice.
Also just a sadrge reminder to me i got so much back log to clean up so i cant pursue simple`ish games like those like Cult of the Lamb because its always a mistake to have some backlog and get something like a NOT TBS Yakuza game and then its likely already been many weeks and your still playing that Yakuza game and your backlog has been rotting in a corner.~

Considering the game is made by Good Feel, no wonder this is such a good feeling game. These devs give you exactly what they promise and I respect that.

@@yeatweichin9825 Did that get released in the US? I know it was released in the PAL and SEA regions (since I owned a copy here in the UK) but yes Bowser's Inside Story is the Bowser focused spin off that not a lot of people played it seems.

@@yeatweichin9825 Wasn't that the Mario & Luigi Super Star Saga-like that takes place inside Bowser's belly, and between each section, you play as Bowser and him getting screwed over again and again? All I remember was a "water dungeon" section with him drinking way too much water and, due to his fatness, he breaks through the ground and is stuck, and Mario and Luigi inside his stomach have to traverse the place by rising and lowering the water. A game with just Bowser would be nice even though he's slow af for a platformer

I don't mind the lack of the other Mario characters, but I did find it funny that Luigi gets invited to a swanky hotel and brings everyone along, but Peach finds out about this theater and just goes off on her own.
Maybe Mario and Luigi were busy? Or they just don't like plays
In Mario 3 they host a play, maybe she thought they'd have a role in one of them.
Also, a port of the other Princess Peach game would be nice.
i'd like to think of it as Princess Peach can basically just go wherever she wants, meanwhile Mario and friends would have to report to her. However, this complicates the whole "Bowser kidnapping" her thing as her disappearance wouldn't be considered "unusual" until a toad tells Mario she's been kidnapped.

Super Princess Peach was a game I loved when I was younger, it's basically normal Mario but because they (Luigi too) got kidnapped Peach saves them with e m o t i o n s. Never finished it, got stuck on world 7 I think, I wish I still had it and my DS 😩. It was fun.
Disco and the special red Ninja dress are my favorite outfits.
I definitely think Showtime could lay some good groundwork if they wanted to make this a side series. Let Grape be Peach's King Boo.

The final battle in Showtime reminds me of Kirby final battles.
I saw someone describe this game as “kid friendly Conker’s Bad Fur Day” due to the whole “every level has a different major gimmick” thing and that basically sold me. Was also surprised to learn this was the first game the director of the old Goemon series directed in over 20+ years.

Depends which Zelda, I don't really care for most versions of her but one where you play as Tetra would be cool as a Wind Waker exploration type game but with the pirate ship.

Honestly, even for how simple it is, I have absolutely zero regrets buying this game. I picked it up while in the middle of tech week for a musical, and a chill and adorable game that didn’t try to wreck my shit at every opportunity was exactly what I needed to unwind in the exactly 1 hour of free time I had between work, tech, and passing out at midnight from absolute exhaustion.

I won't STAND for this Super Princess Peach erasure. That game was way better than it needed to be.
Scott is 100% right this game was too easy and if you are a more hard core gamer this isn't something you should consider buying. That said if you have kids or a niece or something then hey it's pretty good. My brothers kid loves it and she's 9 and has gotten way more fun out of it than I have but I'll be sticking to RPGs and harder platformers for the time being.

I feel like how they could have done the whole “pick witch part you want to play” could have been locked behind saving the sparklas, having them fill peaches place until they swap actors having peach go on from there, and switching back to leave. You have to do all of the sparkla stages anyway so…
The editing on this video was really nice. It’s pretty simple, but the bullet points and graphic pop ins are nice. Also a big fan of the most recent Scott model

Wow... I didn't think there would be enough straw in the whole planet for making a strawman as big as the one you made in the beginning.
Okay, but did anyone else find the difficulty of cookie minigame to be weirdly unbalanced and exacting compared to the other levels? I swear I had to do the first two cookie minigames at least five times over because the game was like "Oh, you were off by one batch of cookies? FUCK YOU, no perfect score for you, no third sparkle for you! Have fun starting the level all over again!"
With all the outfits in Odyssey, I was thinking about pretty much exactly this game concept, just with more fleshed side missions and more freedom to roam around looking for hidden goods.

Princess peach: showtime in the most basic form: baby’s first video game

Okay, but this would have been the perfect opportunity to reintroduce Captain Syrup rather than just making some forgettable new villain.
I’ve actually been thinking of getting this game for my niece. She loves Luigi’s mansion and I think she will love this.
I loved the game except for 2 things.
1. No checkpoints so if you mess up (like I do with the Mermaid singing with the fish at the end of each level EVERY FREAKING TIME) you gotta go thru the WHOLE level again.
2. There’s no point in 100% completion. We don’t get anything but an outfit. Thank god I didn’t do that and looked it up after failing the mermaid singing parts 5x! (I just can’t do it. Idk what’s wrong with me I just can’t do it!) At least give us a post card like other 100% Mario rewards. It could have been cute to have it addressed to Mario and Luigi.
And that’s really the only issues I have with the game. It was fun from start to finish. I hope we get more Peach solo games. Because it’s nice when it’s not the same old “Bowser is being bad” and/or “Peach is kidnapped again.” Because that is old. We got a brand new villain and Peach literally got to shine.
I don't think it's very unreasonable to have a small reward for 100%ing a game, especially considering the first flaw you mentioned that makes 100% more of a chore than it needs to be. Breath of the Wild didn't give you anything special for getting every Korok, just an un-glorified trophy. Plenty of people will want to 100% games regardless of the reward, and for those who aren't interested I don't think it's always fair to make them miss out on something important
