@@HelotesHellRaiser my enzymes are perfect. That’s not to say that I don’t have some permanent damage, fortunately there was enough healthy tissue to heal and regenerate. I get a couple of liver ultrasounds a year to catch any signs of cancer as early as is possible. Other than that, I’m better than I’d been in a couple of years pre Harvoni. It’s a miracle drug. I wish your husband the best.

@@msprettykawaii950 soft drinks are directly damage the liver, may not feel it now but it's a slow process cirhosis doesn't happen over night. I suggest to stop those drinks and replace them with healthy options, such as zero calorie sweeteners. Eat healthy diet, you can eat junk food here and there stay away from vegetables oils and you should be fine. And supplements stay away from them no Matter which supplement don't take anything stick to whole food.
This answered so many of the questions i had, and helped tremendously with my fear of stage 4 cirrhosis. Thank you so much for the program. Mine is not from drinking or drugs, but doctors prescribing Advil, ibuprofen etc from work related issues. Sometimes I wonder how in heck they got their medical license.
I had the same expérience. A doctor over prescribed amoxcillan (antibiotics), big doses, that and ibuprofen and tylenol. No recourse against the doctor.

I was diagnosed with stage 4 fibrosis (cirrhosis) on February 7, 2024. I turned 46 on the 12th. This was very informative. I am scared to death of my diagnosis. I have so many things I want to do before I die, but unfortunately I have to work in order to keep my insurance since I am not old enough to retire and get insurance.

I'm 32 stage 1 from hep c and fatty liver but doctor believe the main culprit it's hep c and obesity so I took hep c meds for 12 weeks and it went to remission or cured whatever case is and I lost 50lbs mind u I still have no symptoms besides lethargic sometimes and slight pain thought was from hep c also have 3 years sobriety from all drugs and cigarettes and alcohol plus I'm dieting and my liver is at complete normal function she believes but doesn't guarantee but believes if I continue to do the right things and I'm there's a possibility I could live for a while with stage 1 for maybe 15-20 years and then if it progresses and gets worse you know at that point because I'm doing all the right things there's no reason I couldn't get on a list for a transplant you know God willing that that time is a long time from now if everything goes right then I'll deal with that bridge when I get to it and try to cross it and hopefully I can get a liver because I'm doing all the right things and I have relatives that will help and would willing to give a piece of their liver if that was a possibility or help me pay to get one so you know I found out after having two years sobriety and having two children I have a 3-year-old and a 3-month-old I'm not afraid to die I'm just afraid to leave them without a father but I'm not scared of pain I'm not scared of death I've accepted it but I'm going to do everything in my power to prolong that I didn't know my expiration date before I found out and I don't know my expiration date now and I'm not going to worry about dying so much that I forget to live I need to enjoy myself and do the right things and hope everything happens for the best I thank you for all the information amazing people like you doctors other reason that humanity has hope

Thank you for this very informative video! I’ve recently been diagnosed with NASH cirrhosis (well-compensated, MELD 6) and am working hard to change my diet and increase exercise. I really resonated with the part about fatty liver being serious. I went from having no elevated enzymes to cirrhosis in just 2.5 years. I wish I had understood more about those elevations and taken more aggressive measures to improve my diet/exercise when it first showed in my blood work. I can’t change the past, but I hope to rewrite my future. I’m hopeful that I will be able to see improvements over time!
Gabi if it mild or moderate ask your DR what is the driving force of your problem and then take it out of the picture , like if you have a Fatty liver you may have to loose 10 percent of your body weight, that is what they say. But it may be something else the driving force or what cause the problem in the first place, talk to your DR. I am doing the same, good luck!!
Stage 1 just found out 32 year old male barely drank alcohol I was a heroin addict I had hepatitis c and never treated it but Im 3 years sober I found out after being sober hope I can live 9-12 years if I do the rite things it epidemic my doctor said it happens alot to ppl with hep c

I a 55 year old female, and in Oct. 2019 was diagnosed with stage 3 decompensated cirrhosis due to NASH and told my estimated life expectancy to be 3 years before transplant. I appreciated Dr. Zucker's information on steps to take to step back a stage or two.
@@Aman-gk1cb Hi Andri, I'm not sure it's a matter of one and done but a continual process. You can't undo the damage but you can manage it well with help from your doctors. I take diuretics, watch my sodium intake as well as fats and sugars, I take some additional vitamins and try to eat more protein. I have completed the rounds of banding required to protect me from experiencing a esophageal bleeds for now. Regular exercise is important and the thing I struggle the most with but I am pretty active most days. My doctor refers to it as such because you are trying to do all you can to stop it from progressing. I just had a check up in January and my doctor was pleased to see how well things are going. My blood work, fibroscan all showed that there was no big changes over the course of two and a half years. I realize this could change but I try to keep a positive outlook about all the things I can do.

Why do so many doctors get it wrong? Whatever illness you have. You will find patients telling their doctors of their symptoms..knowing something isn’t right..and many doctors just look the other way, dismiss the symptoms without even sending you for a test. Some just worry about money..our lives are more valuable than that!

You forgot to mention liver damage secondary to heart failure. Say a patient had heart surgery and possesses an implanted mechanical heart valve. They are on warfarin anticoagulation and already have a high billirubin count due to haemolysis and breaking down of the red blood cells going through the mechanical valve. Theyre already bruising easily due to the warfarin and theyre on diuretics which may or may not be potassium sparing - nonetheless they lose minerals through urinary output. So if they develop liver fibrosis or cirrhosis, things become a lot more complicated dont they.
That's me. I have constrictive pericarditis and cirrhosis. Waiting on the cardio guys to decide on their way forward before ihe liver transplant is done.

@@MYDODGEYUTUBENAME I had ascites 5 years ago and was drained then and diagnosed with constrictive pericarditis, which has been treated conservatively ever since. Recently the ascites re-developed, and a more thorough examination including a biopsy that revealed the ascites was cardiac, not liver related, and that my liver is cirrhotic. I await a final cardiac MRI before the cardiac and liver docs decide on a course of action.

I was diagnosed with NASH a few years ago. I had hepatomegaly! I don’t believe I changed my diet a lot and a year later, I got my liver function panel and my liver enzymes were back to normal. A few weeks ago, I went for a check up and my liver enzymes were back up. I now have an ultrasound scheduled for Monday. I’ve felt tired all this time, even when my liver enzymes were low. Is it possible that my liver never healed during that time the ALT and AST levels were low? That’s scary because it would be 3 years now with NASH and little did I do to improve it. Anxious for my abdomen ultrasound on Monday
Dr. Zucker/A.L.F., I have fatty liver stage 2 and fibrosis stage one. I eat clean, take supplements , under weight now because of no bad foods and don't drink. However, I am depended on Benzodizipines and can't stop because of the terrible withdrawals. I am trying to wean but that can take months and years.....and maybe it is just to hard to quit??. My question is: are benzos okay to take everyday for years? And is there a better/best brand of benzo to take? I take bromazepam 3 or 4 times a day: totaling about 7.5 mgs. I do find that I get pain in the liver about an hour after I take them but not everytime. I have read on many studies and trials that benzo don't hurt the liver....only in rare cases? Better go to your doctor and get yearly tests. Yearly BLOOD TESTS. That way you can typically catch it if liver disease is sneaking up on you. Once you have cirrhosis its NOT curable. So please go yearly and get annual BLOOD tests from a real hospital. Once you get cirrhosis theyre are no actual treatments except a liver transplant and those are hard to get approved for.

I have autoimmune hepatitis diagnosed 10 years ago. Had a liver biopsy. Cirrhosis Was on cellcept for 4 years “remission” but now seems to be coming back my mom and I both have/had RH and I have vitiligo - my mom died of pulmonary fibrosis of unknown origin at age 70 developed type 2 diabetes at age 60 . / my dad 88 was just diagnosed with hemochromatosis do you think my children age 24 25 will get some type of autoimmune disorder. Is there a genetic test for this spectrum ? I have 3 adult siblings 58 59 60 who have no autoimmune disorders.

I'm in the 4th stage, final stage of Chirrosis. it's awful! I would not want my worse enemy to have this.
I had compensated chhiroses and then I used dupixent it caused the liver into 4th stage . any suggestions ?

Recently the ascites re-developed, and a more thorough examination including a biopsy that revealed the ascites was cardiac, not liver related, and that my liver is cirrhotic. I await a final cardiac MRI before the cardiac and liver docs decide on a course of action.

I was diagnosed with NASH a few years ago. I had hepatomegaly! I don’t believe I changed my diet a lot and a year later, I got my liver function panel and my liver enzymes were back to normal. A few weeks ago, I went for a check up and my liver enzymes were back up. I now have an ultrasound scheduled for Monday. I’ve felt tired all this time, even when my liver enzymes were low. Is it possible that my liver never healed during that time the ALT and AST levels were low? That’s scary because it would be 3 years now with NASH and little did I do to improve it. Anxious for my abdomen ultrasound on Monday
Dr. Zucker/A.L.F., I have fatty liver stage 2 and fibrosis stage one. I eat clean, take supplements , under weight now because of no bad foods and don't drink. However, I am depended on Benzodizipines and can't stop because of the terrible withdrawals. I am trying to wean but that can take months and years.....and maybe it is just to hard to quit??. My question is: are benzos okay to take everyday for years? And is there a better/best brand of benzo to take? I take bromazepam 3 or 4 times a day: totaling about 7.5 mgs. I do find that I get pain in the liver about an hour after I take them but not everytime. I have read on many studies and trials that benzo don't hurt the liver....only in rare cases? Better go to your doctor and get yearly tests. Yearly BLOOD TESTS. That way you can typically catch it if liver disease is sneaking up on you. Once you have cirrhosis its NOT curable. So please go yearly and get annual BLOOD tests from a real hospital. Once you get cirrhosis theyre are no actual treatments except a liver transplant and those are hard to get approved for.

I have autoimmune hepatitis diagnosed 10 years ago. Had a liver biopsy. Cirrhosis Was on cellcept for 4 years “remission” but now seems to be coming back my mom and I both have/had RH and I have vitiligo - my mom died of pulmonary fibrosis of unknown origin at age 70 developed type 2 diabetes at age 60 . / my dad 88 was just diagnosed with hemochromatosis do you think my children age 24 25 will get some type of autoimmune disorder. Is there a genetic test for this spectrum ? I have 3 adult siblings 58 59 60 who have no autoimmune disorders.
