Peaceful Nigeria. As someone said "wish the clock could be turned back" Am in my 50's but l can say without any doubt that l enjoyed my upbringing in Nigeria. I will forever be grateful to my parents for taking my siblings and l back home. Children of this generation both in Nigeria and in the diaspora don't know what they have missed and still missing. Lovely and soul soothing music. BIG Thank U to the person that uploaded this.
Beautiful olden days
Whenever I view these videos of old Lagos, it makes want to weep for the sweet memories they evoke. Those were times when every Nigerian was important and one's tribe was only considered by the way in everything and not as a determinant of anything. Compared to now, things were more peaceful, products were genuine, people were friendlier, weekends were restful, food was more delicious, public transport was a pleasure to use, electricity was more reliable, schools were schools....
What happened to our electricity
You forgot to add there were less people too.
Lagosians still retain the habit of dressing in local attire and look cool as a result.
I love to watch old lagos-nigeria documentary, i wish i could turn the hands of time.
Trust the igbos, they were running their transport companies steady. Watching these videos, it just made me get emotional and have increased respect for my igbo brothers.
🙄It’s hard to trust a group of people who call us slaves and bash us, but live on our land
This is Lagos are you trying to say all these stuff were built by igbos? Cause that's a lie
Excellent memories of those days!! I enjoyed the old sound of theophilus iwalokun.
That was those days people were patriotic they were proud to be Nigerians n proud of the country so people coexisting peacefully from all walks of life
Hmm,good old days.Thanks Bros 👊👍for sharing
life was so simple and so peaceful. ah! whenever I view life in Lagos I will just feel like weeping because of the joy and the beauty of things, and the human nature in society.
Your videos always make my day
Omg, that's so beautiful and peaceful. I have to share it with my Nigirian friends over here in Germany. Thank you so much for uploading the video. Is that really Lagos city?
Yes it is😊
I always feel poignant pain when I see all this, thinking what might have been. In my opinion, the life we're living today is the worst possible of the outcomes. It could only have been better
Ture. But Nigeria is an experiment. There's 500+ tribes in this region, united into one country. The Nigerian government officials have never understood how to handle all these groups of people with their indigenous chiefs equally. One tribe is favoured against others always and that's what has led to all the resistance and corruption from the people as a way of fighting back at the government. The fight never ends and the country is just going down.
Better days of Nigeria and you can go out any tme of day without any consequence or fear unlike whats happening today
It look more clean at that time
Less population and very low migration.
It wasn't, it was much less developed than it is today. The thing with these old videos is that they only capture the good, the fact that education was a rarity and that the colonial only developed white majority areas isn't being shown here.
@@toade1583 its cleaner with better public infrastructure
I relish the good old days. Life was beautiful. No banditry. No numbing of Churches, no killing of Catholic priests. No sacking of villages by Fulani herdsmen. I wish the good old days would come back
LIFE WAS SIMPLE BUT BEAUTIFUL AND EXCITING !
I don't know where you retrieved this old clip from but it's too hard to watch. We've been suffering for a very long time. Look at a woman with a child tied to her back yet pounding yam...so sad. AMO, London UK
Wish things could turn around for nigeria.
When there was still peace in the land...So sad how low the mighty has fallen ....😥😥😥😥😥
I love this, So, there was once peace in a nation called Nigeria. Those bastards had not been born at that time
Nice calming vid
We didn't deserve the independence we got ... I wonder why we were giving
We deserve our independence. This is just like the banana island of those days. Nigeria is much better than today. Don’t let some old videos fool you. But I agree that we can do better and we should do better.
Of course you deserve independence. 💖
I was a kid these time till nearly end of 70er, peasefull, full securities, many Job vacancises and full enjoyment before I left Nigeria, now a days full of mess.
Deep...
That's when White people were in charge. Thereafter Black people took over in late 1960,October ISt and there was "chaos'' ''i be yoruba,i be ibo,i be hausa,'' total confusions. Lagos was never the same again.
@Shine Oyemade - thank u for taking u back in time. Bless u.
Ok but Who merged these YORUBA, IGBOS AND HAUSA TOGETHER? Despite these people been totally different groups with different history and culture. This is a very unwarranted and ignorant comment. Countries like Botswana are doing better because it a more homogeneous country than other African countries.
Most ot these people are dead..Just live your best life that's all I can say.
Beautiful Lagos then. Yet someone will say he made Lagos that was existing and already develop before 1999.
That police man actually stopped the footage. Lolz
What song is this
You will find it written in the description box.
Ecowas will rise and shine
3:35 shy woman 😆
Till date no much development 😡
The time of much money
