Eddie had the big pop hit with it, and Eddy Arnold had the big country hit with it.

Eddie Fisher was one of the best singers of the early '50's. Thank you SO much for uploading this rare footage! "Anytime" was one of his first big hits, charting at #2 in Billboard in 1951. It's a great song, and this is one of the earliest TV appearances I've seen of Eddie. I'd also love to see him sing "Forgive Me" on this episode. Thanks again, I love this video!

The smooth war era crooners were gone, Dean Martin and the lounge lizards and Elvis weren't really in yet and there was Eddie with his dramatic voice, sort of like Frank Sinatra. I remember Eddie's songs being on the radio when I was very young.

Elvis Presley before Elvis came along. A popular crooner and teenage heart-throb of the early '50s.
Like Elvis he even got drafted into the army

He was a big star when there were big stars. Misjudgment finished his career and the key element was Liz. She wasn’t hurt in the least but it finished his career. He was Liz’s pet.

Those Hollywooders, then as now, had the morals of alley cats and for the most part were too immature to have real relationships. Now half of them are satanic.

Fisher was no "crooner". The man could really sing, and sing a lot better than a lot of his Mafioso contemporaries.

true the moment he left debbie for liz is when eddie's career was over!! liz taylor said she never loved eddie fisher but eddie has said she was the love of his life. he had nothing good to say about debbie reynolds. i felt that liz just needed eddie by her side because her husband who died in airplane crash was close to eddie. she used him and he got it back from richard burton when he told eddie that he was in love with his wife

How exactly does feeling 'down hearted' be showing your love for your romantic partner ? This infantile key of C blasting is as horrid as the pathetic words.
