    respect for the iLoud for the size to performance quality...probably the best small speakers out there

  • @stringstorm

    The JBLs definitely has more depth on the mid, atleast that's what the reproduction of the audio through youtube sounds like.
    But, you can't discredit the iLouds for lacking a little bit of depth given their size. Small yet incredibly powerful. REALLY impressive stuff!

    holy crap, compared how close they sound the size difference is a big accomplishment.

    The iLoud Micro Monitors sound best to me with the flat EQ setting and the LF tone control set to -3db... This fixes the overemphasized bass and makes the response more balanced... I personally prefer the iLoud MM over JBL LSR305. I used to own the JBLs and to my ears, the iLouds have better resolution and tigher bass... LSR305 frequency response is more balanced, but in terms of sound quality, the iLoud takes the cake IMO. I used to own Neumann KH120 as well and while those sound better, it's not a huge difference... The iLouds hold their own very well!

      I have both, and I can tell you definitely lying. I don't even have to push the lsr 305 to their limit to tell that soundstage, bass, and clarity is better. Yeah the iloud are really good, I use them even more frequently then the lsr, but come on the iloud sounding better than the lsr305? You crazy

      @@tomallonsmusicalcreation1111 If you are really set up on those two, budget wise they are both easy on the wallet, they are probably still the best I've heard in their price range up to now. Since then I've moved on to other speakers but I still have these speakers, impossible to get rid of. The lsr305 have superior audio in all ways hands down, but they weigh like 8 times the iloud and are at least 4 times bigger. It really comes down to "Do I need something portable, do I want to use them in other rooms just as standard bluetooth speakers?" In which case the iloud micro monitor are the best option, trust me, many times I've thought "damn I wish I would've brought my speakers on this trip cause I want some quality audio" can't do that with the lsr305 (well I guess you could just a lot harder), want the best bang for your buck audio? Choose the lsr305, want BIG sound, the lsr 305, being very subjective the the lsr305 sound 10-20% better then the iloud, they can fill up a big room with sound. Also, we are very close to black friday, iloud micro monitors are always on sale for 200$, the lsr305 are usually discounted as well, I bought my lsr308 cheaper than I bought my lsr305 cause I bought them on black friday. Save your self a buck, and wait a little.

    I've watched lots of your comparison vids and they're fantastic. I'd like to suggest adding a voiceover track on its own, male and female for people considering speakers for VO and video editing. I just got a pair of the iLouds and they're killer for music but too loose and not focused enough for VO mixing, presume it would be the same for dialogue

    To me, the iLoud sounds more compressed and with more focus on the mids, whereas the JBL sounds more open and loose, with more sonic space and better separation. Then, listening to the final test on bass response, iLouds have no sound below 50 Hz, whereas JBLs still responding down to 40 Hz, so I guess that's the reason why.
    Still, I think they sound great and the format will be ideal for me, as I live in a small appartment. But having into account that JBLs are cheaper and better sounding to my ears, I think I will go with them.

    Others have said it, but I'll say it again - there is no way that 3" woofer (w/front port) puts out that much bass - they've bent the laws of physics here (and, yes, I realise the pitfalls of making a call bases on YT vids). Thanks for this.

    • @timdonk1916
      @timdonk1916 5 років тому +2

      Late response but the iLouds have a lot of neat DSP work. The front port wraps around the entire enclosure in a U shape to get the required length for a deep enough bass response. The bass response is linear to 50hz but there is a hard brick wall (instead of the standard roll-off) that prevents any output below 50hz. And to prevent the woofer from blowing, this brick wall is a moving target based on amount of bass and how loud you are pushing the speakers.
      Because of the moving bass target, they might amusingly be ill-suited for reference professional work but they're still really perfect for home use. All in all, the iLouds are a very good example of an active speaker taking advantage of everything that active speakers can offer. The name is really unfortunate but these guys are really showing why more speaker manufacturers should be using DSP. Logitech sized desktop speakers that cost $300 and sound pretty similar to speakers with 5" woofers? Sounds good to me!

    I just brought back my I-loud’s to the store. Not due to their sound. The annoying cable in the back is heavy and often causes the little speakers to tip over. I’ll wait for a second generation.

    Switch more often between products. Make a sharp cut in the audio file switching. Use always the same audio track order for for all the equipment (PinkF. , a movie soundtrack BladeRunner2049, etc: Use only a starting audio quality with over exceptional detail level). A good example of this is the photo image comparison for the cameras that use the same real studio.
