Through this masterpiece, Sakamoto literally translated all the pain and the sorrow of Kitty and Port in that very scene, so intense was his comprehension about that moment. I wonder how many musicians would have such gift. RIP Riyuchi, and accept my gratitude for touching our Souls so deeply.
Sakamoto´s Masterpiece for me...this music tears my soul, it is sweet and it is sad as life itself, THANKS FOR YOUR MUSIC THANKS FOR YOUR TALENT MR: SAKAMOTO, MAY YOU REST IN PEACE...
I read the book and saw the movie and this song was always in my head. It's hard to describe, it feels like life is passing through your eyes and you can't stop time, you can't stop things will be always changing, feeling as little as a grain of sand in the middle of the desert.
“Because we don't know when we will die, we get to think of life as an inexhaustible well. Yet everything happens only a certain number of times, and a very small number really. How many more times will you remember a certain afternoon of your childhood, an afternoon that is so deeply a part of your being that you can't even conceive of your life without it? Perhaps four, five times more, perhaps not even that. How many more times will you watch the full moon rise? Perhaps 20. And yet it all seems limitless.”
This is a very difficult film. It is brilliant, of course, but I think that only 1 out of 1,000 people [maybe even less] is able to appreciate it.

"Live like you will die tomorrow. Learn like you will live forever."
Sakamoto is a genius like Bertolucci 🌷
I just love "The sheltering sky".
Great book and Great film
My most favourite piece from the man I've known from Yellow Magic Orchestra to the wonderful film scores. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Ryuichi.
