It normally does. Psycopaths are often intelligent because of evolution. They have to blend in. As a result, they have to find clever ways to seem like everyone else. This combined with their lack of emotional barriers often produces a human with above average intelligence. That said, this guy probably isn't a psychopath. Psycopaths are rare. 0.3% of men in the US are actual psycopaths. Sociopaths on the other hand are a bit more common. This guy is likely a dumb sociopath.

Wow, life without parole at 20 years old, he could spend 70 years in jail. He deserves every single second, minute, hour, day, week, month, year and decade.
Although I don't know anything about the US legal system doesn't this mean he'll be eligible to apply for parole after 20 years, not that it will necessarily be granted ? I'd imagine that as Brian appears to be a complete psychopath he'll be in prison for the rest of his life.

Many homeless people WANT to be homeless. They feel confined in a building. They will not sleep in a homeless shelter either. They want to be outside. It may seem strange to most of us, but some of them are just like that. Probably an intelligent man too since he would be seen all the sitting and reading books.

Schizophrenia is a really easy way to get out of convictions, and get free money for life. People read up on faking the symptoms, and most professionals either can't or don't care to try to see through it, they just tick the boxes on their list and write their "professional opinions." If friends and family question these diagnoses, the professionals shut them up and say, "you aren't a professional!" Maybe they're not. Having to deal with this kind of evil, and maintaining a "friendly" facade during such interviews, is probably a major reason why so many law enforcement officers develop alcohol or substance dependencies. Just look what happens to veterans, and how they often end up dealing with a comparably "short" exposure to violence and evil, then imagine having to deal with that for years and decades, over and over again. (And, for both, knowing that this will never stop, only the "players" get replaced over time)

Pure evil is actually a personality disorder called antisocial personality disorder - both primarily called sociopathy or psychopathy (difficult to distinguish but colloquially psychopathy is thought to be an extended version of sociopathy, believed to be hardly conditioned by genes). Quite a flat and empty way of thinking to call someone pure evil in this case if he was made like that - either born or suffered a state characterized by lack of connection with one’s emotions.

I’ve run into over of dozen grizzlies up close, and even had to use bear spray on one that kept charging me. It’s fucking terrifying, you feel like a wild animal about to die.
And yet I would still gladly take another encounter with a grizzly bear than an encounter with some creepy dude out in the middle of nowhere. Hands down, no contest.
Humans are the most dangerous of all creatures.
Yeah bears usually be big hairy dom daddies with the lil tickle stashes 🥵🥵🥵
I spend a lot of time outdoors away from people because of people like this, wildlife is nowhere near as scary.
@@LisaAnn777 At least wildlife is predictable.
And bears don’t kill for fun.
To think that people like this are out there mingling amongst us… just haunts n scares me! Rip Warren n prayers for everyone who is missing you!❤
You could be killed today. You never know.
It's good he was sentenced for life without parole. This young man is beyond help. Everything is a joke to him.
be prepared, bc there are plenty more like him.
Poor Mr Warren Barnes, a tragic life and undeserved horrific end. RIP sir
A true crime fan should have known he'd face a lot more than 15 years.
Yeah, we did.
In Australia a lot of killers get 15 years with parole. One killed someone in a road rage incident this week and got 3 years
Wishful thinking I guess
That poor man 😢 I’m just glad that, as the psycho stated, it only took about a minute. That said that minute must have seemed like an eternity for his victim. RIP Mr Barnes
He will be one of the most beautiful angels and will have the best treatment in heaven. I believe god does this for such innocent people being murdered and others that have lived either life where they aren’t sinners or forgive or have been traumatized.
@@TaraBanks-sp4loHe was an atheist….
Ugh, he makes my skin crawl. Every time he laughed, he got me so mad 😡 The ONLY time I laughed was when he said something like “sure, I’ll tell you. What? I mean I’m only looking at about 15 years or so in prison?” 😂😂
I know for real I couldn’t STAND listening to this evil psycho, his laugh and voice made me repulsed. Disgusting individual literally made me sick listening to him what an absolute monster. WTF is wrong with people. This is one interrogation I’ve seen where I was extremely repulsed and absolutely disgusted by the offender. Vile evil CREEP
😅
I was once diagnosed with major depression. The tears would not stop flowing. Even made the psychiatrist cry. But I never killed anyone.
Lmfao waaaaaaaaaaaah waaaaaaaaaaaah pathetic
The fact that he thinks he would only get 15 years for murdering an innocent man says it all.
I just watched another vid of this black guy that shot and killed someone and got pulled over for speeding with the body in the trunk and only got 25 years. I couldn't believe it.
“Well, the next 15 years of my life are set” did he honestly think he would only get 15 years in prison?
This guy isn't arrogant, he's just fucking bonkers
I love that he thought he was the only going to do 15 years. Is there footage of his sentencing? I’d love to see his face.
People with schizophrenia are far more likely to be the victim of an attack than the perpetrator. My Nan had schizophrenia and she was always a lovely person. After she passed, people kept coming up to me in the street, telling me about all the nice things she had done for them. RIP Nan, I wish you had lived long enough to see your wonderful Granddaughter.
Ppl in cultures that dont demonize schizophrenia have been known to have "helpful" or "nice" voices instead of what we see on TV
Wtf.. this guy should never be let out of prison
He won't be
My youngest brothers went to high school with this psycho. They said all the signs were there. Red flag after red flag. My fathers employee was friends with Warren.
I cant imagine the fear and confusion of Warren's last moments, to wake up in the middle of your own murder at the hands of some cowardly, pathetic stranger. This was so tragic to hear about. RIP Warren.
"Stupidity doesn't have an age limit, I guess, HA HA HA" - his mom
This guy is truly a psychopath! He not only lacks common human empathy, he apparently felt great joy at taking someone's life. Thank God he got caught after his first murder, because no doubt he would have become a serial killer.
I was classmates with him, he was always weird. He just gave off a vibe that made me try to avoid him. He started with animals around the town. A lot of us were hoping he would have gotten the death penalty. Warren was such a kind soul
Wait really
@@AbsolutelyAri1
Probably not
Wow. My mother was murdered by a total idiot and their name was Brian Cohee too (they guy, not my mom, lol). Hookers are pretty sparse in Grand Junction too. Not saying that's a problem but clearly you don't need a date to have a good time.
@@thehangingparsiple5692 yes actually
@@beckydoesit9331 I’m so sorry for your loss, and yea. Junction is awful town and I’m shocked there isn’t more, especially around Clifton
Love the way this cop mirrors his attitude. He made him think henhad an understanding friend. Crazy
My mother suffers from paranoid schizophrenia . She has paranoid delusions from time to time but she would NEVER hurt someone. She is so sweet and kind and cant even stand to watch violence in movies...This guy is a monster.
Yes... But if his actions are the result of schizophrenia then the monster label needs to be amended to take that into account . We don't know if delusions played a role . Your mother having schizophrenia and abhoring violence can't be applied to all who suffer from that condition .
@@michaelblankenau6598Just because they suffer from mental illness doesnt mean there not monsters.. this guy is a monster exactly because of his mental illness.
@@azoniarnl3362 Agreed . But then they also shouldn’t be blamed for being monsters .
He's worried about dying from hypothermia while his murdered victim in the river. Psychopath all the way
Self preservation, a common trait for humans
First time I’ve seen the detective in the interrogation room nervous AF! This dude is pure evil and deserves to be put away for the rest of his life
I don't think he's nervous more then holding in his pure disgust and rage having to listen to this monster... That's how I feel atleast listening to this interview
He doesn’t have a clue how evil he is. Same with Diane Downs. They seem so arrogant but it’s a reflection over the fact their brains have no ability to see others as people just like themselves. It’s shocking. They both talk as if other people are just objects. With Diane Downs it was her own children.
I don’t believe this guy when he says he suffers from “depression “.. I think his own depression can’t possibly be like regular folks depression. Hearing him talk, it seems his “depression “ is boredom and self pity.
I wonder how much we can learn about the functioning of the human brain but if we had the ability to see which children lacked human empathy, what do we do about it?
Why is it that suicide is censored but naming every disorder is fine lol
He was right about "the next 15 years set in stone". Thankfully, the judge decided to make it a bit more permanent.
Incredible. Beyond craxy. I hope this guy never gets out, or is executed.
Well, he's never going to get out.
He thinks he's the smartest guy In the room, he's going to get fucked.
Not only do we need to not allow psychopath killers like these back on our streets we also need to start punishing and protesting against the JUDGES who allow them back in public even after clear evidence points to a guilty verdict. Judges need to be held accountable but no one ever mentions them at fault when violent psychos and other heinous monsters are let off to do more similar crimes.
Agreed
He got life WITHOUT parole, you understand what that means? The only way he's leaving prison ,is in a box.🤨😉
@@oliverguenther6360 Good. I am then referring to any other of the far too numerous cases where my described situation occurs.
@@oliverguenther6360 he never said judge in this case was wrong
@anitamiller7960You obviously don't watch many crime shows!
This was such a heart breaking story to think of that poor old man whoever he was.
Did you notice the detective's leg movements immediately after Brian showed him the "Glasgow smile"? Thank goodness these investigators are able to do these interrogations and keep their cool. Props to him, great job
good spot, yeah that said 'oh how I want to cave your face in with my foot'.
I'm from Glasgow, and I'd never heard of Glasgow smile before, I mean I'm not saying it doesn't happen as knife crime is rampant here, most working class lads carry a knife as a matter of course.
@@yakacm how you never heard of a Glasgow smile ?
@@yakacm It's an old thing. Not something a modern working class lad would know about.
(And, for both, knowing that this will never stop, only the "players" get replaced over time)
It's infuriating when someone tries to blame their mental health for actions like this when its clear to see it's just plain evilness. He just thought he'd be able to get away with it. Nope.
to be fair he is clearly very mentally ill. he probably is a psychopath, has no empathy, has no guilt. he didnt choose any of that. lock him up to keep other people safe of course. but it is a sad situation
@ProsiaczekMr
This isn't antisocial personality disorder, that just means you're an introvert. This guy has full-blown sociopathy.
Evil exists as it has to in order for free will to be possible. Evil doesn't just apply to Humans (great apes) but the whole animal Kingdom.....
As a person with mental health illness, I agree completely. I would never hurt anyone other than myself. I'm vegetarian, literally wouldn't hurt a fly. If I was judged on my illness is be fu**ed. But it's wrong! I have free wi!l!
Sounds like Warren was well known in the community, well liked and well used. It is a pity he wasn’t well cared for by the community. They all used him for cheap labour but not one of them gave him a room. I can’t imagine the terror he went through. It’s terrifying knowing these people exist and live amongst us. Looking at this guy and listening to the apparent normality of his mother .. who would have thought!
I don't know the community any better than you do, but I would bet that those who interacted so kindly with the victim also tried to find him shelter, and may well have offered to take him in. You have no basis to attack those who helped.

I hate when ppl use “mental illness/health” as an excuse for hurting/killing ppl! Sometimes ppl are just evil!!

evil brought upon by severe mental illness. really dumb to downplay mental illness, especially in this day and age.
... not some of the time - it's every time
you make it real easy on yourself...... labeling them as "just evil" doesn't need any thought about what might drive people to develop behaviours like compulsive sadism
@@stefanforrer2573 ….and ppl like you make it easier for them by making excuses them/having sympathy/wanting to use psychobabble bullshit what’s make them mentally unstable. I hate your bust your bubble, but A LOT of people have traumatic childhoods and we don’t grow up with the need to see how it feels to kill a sleeping poor defenseless homeless person. I can tell you one thing though…some the parents need to take responsibility for their kids!
4:23 how he quoted saying it was easy, that he expected it to be more difficult because "it's a homeless guy" - the man literally caught him off guard while he's asleep, anyone in that position would be vulnerable. Such a shame the guy went out the way he did in the conditions he suffered 😔
He kept saying out in 15 years🤣 as if you'd be let back into society
That is the calmest detective I've ever seen.
Where is he getting 15 yrs from. He committed premeditated murder. He is going away for life.
you have to remember these are some of the lowest mentally achieving folks on the planet
He probably thought mommy would mortgage the house to get him the best defense attorney.
The justice system is so soft they probably give him 10yrs
That poor man.. no one is born to become homeless. On the top of that, he was murdered and mocked by his killer. So sad.
I’m glad he got life. He was saying 15-20 years like it was nothing
Right… 20 years is longer than he’s been alive.
I‘m so sorry for the good hearted victim and I‘m sorry for his mom.
If you watch the whole video of his interrogation, he says "I thought my mom was going to push me harder but no, she only reacted when the police started asking questions" His mom was persistently blind to all of her son's red flags.
