The violin bow uses horse hair which is how they tested it in the old days, white lasted longer than black. Still used today. I make a great tenkara wood rod with horse hair line.
the color of the horse's tail has nothing to do with strength, Horse's from cold climate are used for strings because the cold climate generates stronger courser hair. research it before spreading old wives tales.

Great skill to in any bank white horse hair I used to tie flies with that it seemed to be thicker then other colors nice great info Steve thanks
