  • Happy Eid Mubarak everyone!
    This was our first ever Hari Raya ever! We looked pretty good in our baju kurung and baju melayu. Don't you think? 😎
    As Christians, we felt so welcomed by our Muslim brothers and sisters. We learned a lot about both Malaysian and Muslim culture.
    We had some incredible food: 3 types of rendang, lemang, ketupat, sambal goreng, kuih raya, and much more!
    Special thanks for Ajib for the invitation. These are the types of travel experiences that we will remember forever. Participating in local traditions, and being treated like family, really touched our hearts.
    Thanks for watching!

    Both of u look so great in the Baju Melayu and Baju Kurung...Usually we celebrate raya much more happening and fun, but unfortunately this time a round, we celebrate in the simplest mode due to the COVID19. The main purpose of Open House is to visit family and friends for bonding moment and to ask for forgiveness (to forgive and to forget) and to treat them with the traditional food in the same time. Usually first thing in the morning we will ask for forgiveness from our parents, younger family members to the elder family members, wife to husband by knee down and kissing their hands while shacking both of their hands. Frm there we will ask for forgiveness and to forget the mistakes or issues that u may have between u and the person in the past by forgiving them...

    • @JetLagWarriors
      @JetLagWarriors  4 роки тому +7

      Right! The CMCO made things a little different this year, but everybody seemed to be going with it and doing the best they can despite the differences. The asking for forgiveness part is really admirable. We had such a great experience during our first Hari Raya! Awesome.

    This is hari raya. Dont need to ask, just eat what ever on the guest table. If you finish it, they will be happy because you appreciated what they cook. At some point it is kind of disrespecting to not to eat without rational excuse. They will feel they dont do good enough like what the prophet has taught them. Muslim has this sunnah/way of our prophet to treat our guest well.

    Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. 🎊🎉👍😃
    Nice Hari Raya clothes guys. Both of you looks elegant in it.
    Lucky you had a good friend who invited you to experience the Hari Raya celebrations (tho in a less festive environment cause of the pandemic). It saddens me you could not fully experience and see how we celebrate Hari Raya in Malaysia. Plz come again next year. 👍
    Stay safe and enjoy. 😃

      Thank you! You too! We felt confident in our clothes 😎! It's unfortunate about CMCO changing the plans for Hari Raya this year, but nobody we talked to was upset or complaining, they were doing the best they could do given the circumstances, and enjoying Raya nonetheless. So, we still had an awesome experience. Who knows, maybe we will be around next year for Raya??

    Hi Steve & Ivana, it’s lovely to see you guys celebrate hari raya at a friend’s house and seems like you enjoyed the food so much.

    • @JetLagWarriors

      It was such a fantastic experience. The food, the clothes! But most importantly, the conversation and just spending time with a bunch of strangers, getting to know them, talking about the Muslim religion, etc. was the best part. Great memories

    Selamat Hari Raya. I'd say you only saw the tip of the Iceberg of Celebration in Malaysia, in Sarawak soon after Raya is Gawai and in Sabah Keamatan (Harvest Festival). You would see Traditional Dance from both State
