@@ConcreteJungleSickness those are his retirement fun movies. You can tell he did all that wanted to do. Plus he has a family and lives a nice life. Both those things demotivate a man or change his goals
its rare to find someone young who not only has the clarity of vision that he does, but also has the support from producers to maintain that confidence and clarity.
The 90s was a different time, if you had an idea, there were studios with actual budgets to help you make it into a film and advertise it. nowadays if somebody wanted to make a movie like Gummo, nobody would ever pay for it, let alone a producer or anybody taking credit for it. Personally, I love Harmony, for a big reason you said is because he always has at least a general understanding of what he wants. im very glad that he got the support/funding to make Gummo a real thing and that i got to see it myself, and I think no matter how hard it is in today’s times, or how small or big your budget is, you should still TRY because the outcome could be beyond your imagination.
He understands so deeply how sacred it is to make a quality movie
Yet can’t make one himself.
@@autofocus4556 so you haven't seen trash humpers then?
Then he made Springbreakers.

Harmony made the most important films of his generation just about immediately after joining the scene
Korine is almost crying in this interview.
you make me fell better, harmony, you are my ''confort artist'' i guess. i love the perspective through which you see everything else
Its so interesting how differently he responds to Herzog as opposed to his appearances on Letterman lol
@@davidlevy4291 you can tell he has a lot of respect for Herzog, very polite versus on letterman he was most likely messing with him on purpose

I’m in love with harmony every day
I love how no one is talking abt how it’s Herzog interviewing him, not even in the title lol
this is possibly the greatest interview a filmmaker has ever given
