Also Raul Esparza as Freddie is just too perfect, I love him.
The amazing thing is this is Raul singing while super sick. He battled through during the performance I saw, but was clearly struggling. He wasn't so sick in this performance and sounds so much better, but is clearly not 100%. What a pro
I saw it live when he wasn't sick yet and he was incredible. It may have been the night after this one. Broke my heart to see the videos the days after we saw it where his voice was gone.
I thought he was amazing!

Thank you for sharing what fantastic voices what a treat. Everyone is amazing but Raúl Esparza what a surprise love him in SVU his version of One night in Bangkok is hot, Olivia Benson would slap the handcuffs on him for sure. The Duet of I know him so well was just beautiful I wish there was more.
I´ve loved Chess since 1984...Only knew Raul from SVU...He´s a fab singer !

On this performance he wasn’t fully sick … it got a little worse. I’m glad I got to see it when he still had some voice
Kristine, Do I understand correctly that in this version the Soviet champion Anatoly Sergievsky wins in the final? The Kennedy Center was not afraid to go against the patriotism of the USA and showed the real author's idea as originally written by ABBA?
In this v Anatoly does win in Endgame! He does deflect from the USSR and defeat a USSR player so Freddie and US patriotism doesn’t have so much to do with it anyways. They tied a lot more “fuck politics” sentiment into it, and with the rewrites more heavily tied up in historic events it kind of works? With the final ending they did it with Florence’s dad actually still alive and the two share a song together, which is a bit nicer about the CIA’s integrity, but thematically undermines the idea that politics and bureaucracy don’t care about individual people. Also I didn’t see the show so I don’t know how a lot of this plays visually, All I have is based on a few clips and an audio bootleg.
