Sooo, I've been following you for YEARS on your guitar reviews on Guitar Max. How did I NEVER know you were a ham radio guy too??? First time this has ever showed up in my feed. KEWL!
Great stuff, man!! I love this channel!! Your videos helped me decide to pick up and learn to update the radtel 470. You manage to scratch all my tizzems, cars, planes, metal, and radios! And you don't just shame the inexpensive stuff like a lot of people do. I swear if you start doing train videos, I'll be in love!
I bought one of these for my Yaesu FTM-7250d. I had one person on our local analogue repeater state that the sound quality deminished so bad that I sounded like the Charlie Brown teacher. I bought an extra yaesu mic and switched the mic elements but it was the same result. Our conclusion was that the BT wasn't wide enough or quality enough for radio audio.
@@chrissewell1608 I still ordered it through Amazon so if it doesn't show up I can get my money back, it just isn't stocked by Amazon so it's going to take a while on the slow boat to get here.
If you are one who likes to make things you can make an adapter for your stereo headphone. A 3.5 mm stereo jack to a 3.5mm mono plug. Just connect tip and ring of the jack to the tip of the mono plug and shield to shield.
This is just such a handy piece of kit to have around and it's so versatile and it leaves you free to do. As you say, cook a meal for yourself for practise. Practise some guitar at the same time and you're not missing anything on on the 2m2 repeater or or one of the Simplex channels etc. Anyhow, I can't wait to see to see you! I have had one of these for years. I initially picked it up to use with Zello through my phone until I got a dedicated Zello radio. Now I use it with my K1 radios all the time. Particularly the K5(8) and TD-H8. I used to use radios professionally, before I took it up as a hobby, so I am conformable with speaker mics (but you do tend to get funny looks out and about). This is less noticeable, and easier to manage too. This would be an excellent mic for something like a Baofeng UV25, instead of hoisting that brick to your head, and definitely for a mobile/base rig with an RJ11 jack. I can't say I have had any audio or connection issues, although mine is an older revision, so I can't say whether something has changed or not (other than the lighted buttons which is nice!) All I can say is make sure you keep the mic AND the dongle charged up.
Cardo and Sena make motorcycle comms systems. Cardo has a Bluetooth setting. Idk if you can connect the Bluetooth mic device to the Cardo, nor do I know if the radios vox will work correctly with the road noise... but, possible solution. With respects to playing radio and riding motorcycle at the same time: is it safe to be distracted while riding a motorcycle?
BTECH GMRS Pro. We use them on convoys as it has BT and a has a wireless HM. It also has an optional wireless PTT that you can strap on to the handle bar.
I am working on a method to send Morse code while riding a motorcycle. I am trying to work around a few extra dits and dahs while riding on a bumpy highway. I am also a little hung up on deploying a 80m end fed from the back of the DR650. First, I get no DX contacts, only NVIS-like regional coverage, and next, 18-wheelers keep running over my loading coil.
Looks like a good addition to the toolkit. I agree the main value is when you want to treat the HT more like a base station which is less rare than it first appears. I've volunteered at events where the HT antenna was marginal but I needed to move around so much that it was really awkward to have to run back to the car's mobile radio all the time. This would let me setup the HT with a better antenna and still move freely within the BT line of sight range while still monitoring and being ready to reply to traffic. Another case would be any portable situation where there's no other option to directly connect an antenna much higher in the air. The speaker/plug combo is far lighter than almost any useful length of coax. There's also cases where mounting outside a vehicle or at height are your *only* options to improve reception due to power/antenna limitations (think MURS/FRS/PMR radios that often have Kenwood connectors anyway). Lastly, on a small boat or in heavy rain where you can put that little handset in a standard small dry bag on your shoulder and leave the HT in a larger, rugged pack/dry bag and have zero worries about water damage or leaks with those awkward radio cases (or having to get a much more expensive waterproof radio).
What I'm looking for is a wireless way to interface with this speaker mic, so I can walk around with something slightly smaller and relay my signal to this speaker mic, and then to the walkie talkie, and then on to my fans in the wider world.
My question is this. I'm type-1 diabetic. I wear a Libre 3 sensor on my arm that is linked via bluetooth to my phone. Will this bluetooth connection interfere with one of these?
There should be no problem with interference. When pairing, the bluetooth devices (the pair of them) pick an open channel, and there's 79 channels I believe. So when you set this up, since your sensor is already operating, this mic will just use a different channel (because the sensor's channel is already in use).
@@robertaz2007 Mine disconnects in a short distance of about 2 meters. And the sound quality of my model isn't very good. Bought it a month ago on AliXpress for 20 bucks.. No use to return it...
it is compatible with walkies using the kenwood type connector if not all, almost all baofeng walkies are using that connector so the answer would be yes, for example for a typical uv-5r
We need a wireless headset for are cars the Head phone speaker must be on the right side of are head the microphone can be adjusted in front of are mouth
@@HeavyMetalHorizons Yes. This very model unfortunately. Others are also complaining about these issues. Compare the review of "Ham Radio Crusader" here on YT for example. Whilst I could live with the short range - the annoying sound quality (high frequency "beeping sound") makes it unusable for me. Perhaps your model is from a newer batch?! Did you test the range?

What an outstanding piece of kit. Thanks for the video giving a heads up that this thing exists!

Bluetooth isn't meant for audio .
it's data protocol.
Thank you, Good video. I just ordered this on AliExpress for less than $20.00
It's still not in stock locally on Amazon so it's going to take a month to get here, but i have one ordered.
Where from? Which chinese company do you trust?

Some pretty bad reviews on Amazon on this and similar devices. I’m skeptical but it really sounds like a good idea.

I like the idea, however what I need is a Bluetooth system I can use in a motorcycle helmet.

A friend of mine has a blue tooth speaker mic hooked up in his helmet, just for ham radio! It works good, he says!

Wonder how far you can get from the radio without losing connection?
Put the radio on the roof for good signal and talk from downstairs heh
@@paulanderegg5536 That’s good. Thanks

Very good, I just ordered one. 😅
Great video. Whats the max range from the radio to the speaker - mic? Most of my bluetooth gizmos have a very short connection range
Great video. What is the range in your destination
Thanks
Bought mine around a year ago👍

The output from the UV-K6 is not clean enough, and you think you want to put it on a PA and then a big antenna?
Might have missed it in the video but what does that P1 button do? Is it programable?
Or you could use an inline mono-to-stereo adaptor. 73 DE W8LV
P1 can be programed for switching from A - B. ?
Do you think that would work 50'-60' away from the radio?
There are planes TXing on an ATIS frequency??!

2 more batteries to charge 😄
Good point!
Will this connect to bluetooth HT's direct without the dongle like the Yaesu FT5D?
No, I don't think so.
Uhhh.. ya. Your link shows delivery sometime in September to October. So, if anyone is hot to get this, you are gonna have to be patient.
Yo we heard you like radio, so we put a radio on your radio so you can radio your radio while you radio other radio enthusiasts
How's the range? Stays connected around the house without any issues?

Is there a bluetooth transmitter that will let you use any brand earbuds with it in VOX mode?
That's a good question! I'll do some research.
Now give me a WiFi bridge with phone app. Bluetooth range is just terrible.

Hi
Make another wireless microphone it work on any radio when the radio VOX is turn on
this is stupid expensive here in Sout east asia, , people are selling it for around 100USD
$35 wireless mic on a $15 radio? Haha
that mic is a bad idea and you know it :)
It's as big as a radio..
Only slightly smaller than the HT itself. Makes no sense.
They could make it smaller but that's not the point. Is has to be comfortable to hold in your hand and also clip on to your clothes etc.
The piece connected to the radio is too big
Why too big? What difference does it make?
