Oh dang, hey! Cool to see a comment from someone involved with the game. Like I mentioned, I really enjoyed the soundtrack, especially the village theme because it reminded me of the Final Fantasy 4 Heroes of Light town themes. I’m a really big game soundtrack nut and love when games go ape with their music. Like my favorite ost has a song that goes on for over 7 minutes before looping which plays in an area that takes like 30 seconds to get through. I hope I didn’t come across as a griping gary by saying there could’ve been more music variety. I like to give at least some criticism in my videos and with how long the game was, I felt it could’ve used much more music.
@@Eroen515 Dude, I'm right with you on the music variety thing. If I could have, I'd have written a soundtrack twice as big! But the budget wasn't there and I think the dev was antsy to get the project out the door, understandably.
@@dimwiddy9808 Yeah that’s understandable. For a (I presume but have no idea) first game, it’s pretty cool what the dev was able to do. I’m surprised that the game was released for free with how much stuff there is in it.
I always try to bring up Memoirs of Magic up in forums or small doom mod groups. I really love that people picked this up and digged through it.
I used to play a pre patched version when a summon HP depleted you died. I had some minor issues with the length and some stuff, but they are minor.
For a doom mod I really liked the story, and there are some jokes like in the gold vault that made me crack.
One of the summons (the snake one) is a Jojo reference, is one of the pillar men.
I think this TC could benefit from some addons, like a magnet for drops ( I think I can do it if there is nothing like it around) because the game is kinda grindy, and stop the action to pick up the gems is one of my complaints in the past.
I will pick it up again in a later gzdoom version and see how compatibility plays on.
I really enjoyed you point of view about one of my must enjoyed TC ever. I feel this game deserved a cacoward.
Yeah this game rocks the socks for sure. I think it got a pretty big boost in popularity recently because it got some references in Pizza Tower and also because the creator just released the demo for their new game Kings of Hell (which I am considering making my next review video about once I'm less busy with school). I discovered this game through, uh, artwork of its characters and I'm not too big on the Doom modding community, but it's cool to hear that this game is regarded well there.
Also it's interesting to hear that you had the death bug with summons because I had it as well and while I mentioned summons being powerful in the video, I barely used them in my playthrough because I thought I was just using them wrong or something. The version I played is still the most recent one (game isn't updated anymore) so the bug still exists unfortunately.
This game is tough but a lot of fun. Nice gameplay loop o:

This game is certainly sick and also potentially radical.
i'm pretty sure the monk's starting stats are more than 1200 because of his lack of guns, which is a huge letdown considering guns are really strong
Yeah this is likely the case. I had just been wanting to cram in a reference to one of my favorite videos created by that old TF2 youtuber STAR_ for like three videos and I decided to do it when talking about the monk's stats which is why I made a big deal about it.

This game has zero chill, I felt lucky enough to just reach the first dungeon.
Very true and wise. The early game can be real challenging especially if you picked a character with bad starting stats like the imp or difficult-to-use starting weapons like the skeleton, but it all gets quite a bit easier once you start unlocking new things and learning which spells are stupidly powerful.
Than the person who made this game went on to make kings of hell which is snk heroines but with animal men insted of girls.
Oh tell me about it bro. I’m actually kinda wanting to make a review video on Kings of Hell soon because I think I saw the creator say that they were releasing a second demo of it soon on Steam and I played a bit of the first demo and thought it was pretty interesting. I did have some game design issues with it though which I hope are changed for the next demo.
@@Eroen515 well it look like a reboot/sequel/fan service/action game where you play as some demons in hell trying to get in a tournament by beating the live out of some evil bad guys also it's has Mal and Gremlin from memoirs in it.

@@noahbradford5342 I only played as the scythe guy when I played the demo but I’ll try to play every character in the Steam demo. He was pretty cool so I’m looking forward to trying out the others since they seem to all play pretty differently.
