#77 Joseph Arthur - Say Goodbye (Acoustic Session)

Il y a quelques artistes que l'on rêve de rencontrer en session sur le cargo. Joseph Arthur faisait partie de ceux là. Des mois qu'on lui courait après. Echanges de mails, quelques mots après son dernier concert parisien au Café de la Danse... Pas facile d'attraper l'animal, même pour quelques minutes.
Quand Fargo nous a annoncé qu'ils allaient redistribuer en France les albums de Joseph Arthur, nous nous sommes dit que la chance était de notre coté...
Quelques semaines plus tard dans une petite rue à coté de la Maroquinerie on se retrouve face à un Joseph Arthur bougon et charmeur, charismatique avec son look Gallagherien.
Tout en étant inquiet pour le son (et au final tout content d'entendre pendant le morceau des bruits de voitures ou un bébé qui pleure), Joseph Arthur nous demande ce que l'on désire entendre. Ne pouvant résister on lui demande de nous chanter, juste pour nous, spectateurs privilégiés, l'un de ses plus beaux morceaux : A smile that explodes.

So far, just about everything this guy does impresses or moves me on some level. Just realized that acoustic versions like this are like an artist's preliminary sketches for a large canvas. They may be rough or unfinished but usually have more life and spontaneity than the larger fully produced work.
