- Still can't believe how well this turned out. Today we are finishing up the re-sloping of a failing drainage. We use dirt perects GMC C8500 tandem axle dump truck to haul in several loads of rip rap. Placed all the rip rap using his Kubota SVL 90-2 skid loader and his CAT 304 mini excavator. Hope you enjoy!

I stocked my new pond this past April. When the water warmed up the catfish feeding was really enjoyable. Working on a second pond now.

Cap’n... why is it that watching random irregularly broken stone being arranged into an aesthetically appealing mat is so satisfying? Call me ‘easily entertained’ but I couldn’t take my eyes off it.... I even paused it when I went to get my second cup of coffee so that I wouldn’t miss one stone fall!!!!

Nice looking job Capt. Having done hundreds of headwalls with rip rap with the highway department it's always the same problem. Never enough flat stone in the loads to suit your needs 🙄 well done 👍

Hello; I mentioned this to Mike earlier but this is another time where it would work. By having a "2' way tailgate (meaning where the tailgate lays down) a person could lower it then drive the 'skidsteer' onto the truck giving you the needed area on the trailer. If you ever watch the 'eastern' operators load equipment into trucks you'll see them do it from the ground. It's an idea I got from an operator I saw do it about 45 years ago. Thank you and Stay Safe.
He use to have that set up on a different truck. Hauled the mini excavator in the bed.

I have one skid steer with steel tracks just for doing rocks like that . that stuff can play heck on tracks.

That's the same way we do it except put the blade in the skid steer bucket

Job well done. Just a suggestion, make of it what you will. Where the riprap from the culvert intersects the riprap along the driveway on the up hill side the angle is too tight to mow comfortably with any ride on mower. If it was me I would dig out more topsoil and add more riprap and make it a more gentle turn . . I learnt years ago that if you do a job like this and it annoys you when mowing and you have to go back with a brush cutter or spray herbicide it doesn't always get done. I assume this is the entrance to the house so you want it to look nice and be easy to maintain. Just a suggestion

I don't suppose that this idea is going to fly well but youtube was the villain in my case. I saw a guy load the excavator in the back of a dump truck and said if he can then so can I! So picked tail gate off with excavator, got behind the truck and set the bucket in the bed and raised the tracks up on to the lip of the dump box... inched ahead a few inches to have a good bite on that bed of the dump truck, swung around and put the bucket down directly behind the whole ensemble and raised the loader up as high as it would push me and let the loader idle on into the bed of the dump truck... same same to unload and the first time was the hardest but I got good at and then tried it on a different set up and not so good.... but since you do have a low boy trailer behind you, what would be wrong with making some ramps to go from the trailer into bed of the dump truck.... you could haul about anything that fit your ramps and it wouldn't be all that steep either. Might want two excavators at one time or any sort of scenario like a loader and dozer.... just a crazy thought that will probably get me blocked/LOL... try at home where some one can take you to the hospital to clean your shorts out.

Now that we can see the finished ditch with the rip rap it is easy to see why Mrs. Dirt Perfect noticed that and didn’t notice that Dirt Perfect did his once every 2 years slope mowing with the 120 as mentioned on his last live stream.
It looks great and I guess it’s safer now that Simon Canyon has been filled.

How long does it take for the pond water to start clearing up? Does it have to fill and start the draining to start clearing up? I imagine that all the dirt in the pond is newly put down, so as the water fills it all the loose dirt can contaminate or cloud the water. When it fills all the dirty/cloudy water can then run off. Is that how it works? I am just guessing.
I love the new grass coming in too. I remember having work done on my property and the grass coming in is like the finishing touch that actually finishes the project and that is when you finally get to see the end result of all your hard work. That is a great feeling. Thanks so much for sharing your video. I really enjoy them.
It definitely takes some time. And yes, flowing water does help a little bit. But mainly it just takes time for the sediment to separate and fall to the bottom. But it most likely won’t start that process until it’s all the way full.
back the skiddy up onto the ramps and move the mini x back a tad.or swap them and tuck the boom out the back and flag it
I think you’re right about the boom tucked in the back.
Put the mini on the back on the skid steer on the front it will work.
It would work skidloader first with bucket facing front then load mini and have blade behind u and spin around put bucket on dovetail

@@CaptainKleeman Yep, it's called Glyphosate and spraying an area that large with it will poison the underlying soil as well as any water wells
@@jaso5114 that’s true, a lot of wells being dug in his driveway in the future, guess he will just have to stick to his city water hookup that we talked about in the video, for now. What a shame too, driveway well water has so many added benefits.
@@CaptainKleeman Good thing the property owner will not be installing wells on his driveway, imagine the logistical nightmare driving around them. In that case, the Glyphosate will be limited to only killing wildlife and insects, and contribute to cancer to the populace.
@@jaso5114 there are dozens of solutions to weeds that don’t involve actual commercial weed killers. Solutions that are inexpensive and safe. But I am just curious here, your solution would be what?

No buckets or other attachments, skidsteer first and both will fit.
thats what i was thinking put the attachments including skid steer bucket in the truck.
Two comments - Please take the first comment as constructive criticism because it is a pet peeve of mine...
I have a name for those turns that you do in the track loader... I call them "Sit and Spins"... because in the vast majority of cases they aren't good for the equipment, the turf, and are really the way inexperienced operators typically turn a machine, tracked or not.
That said, nice job on the ditch!

Take bucket off skid and fork blade load them in to truck, put skid on truck then the bigger with arm between ramps..
